Conan's POVThe police who stormed into the room gaped, his eyes almost bulging out of their sockets as he whispered and as his lips wobbled. "Conan, boss of Ming company" He gasped as his hands flew over his mouth while he glanced back and forth between me and Liana. He quickly lowered his head. "I had no idea that you were here, I mean silly me, how can I expect that someone like you would be here in the first place" He palmed his forehead as sweat formed on his forehead, almost trickling down his face.I raised a brow, squeezing Liana's hand tightly as I shot him a glare. "Don't you have manners here? you just barged in when I was doing something very important with my wife" I said, expatiating on the wife. Liliana attempted to speak. "Conan, you don't have to shut him off. Remember that this is a police station and not any other place, he has the right to barge in here and we are the ones at fault....." Before she could complete her statement, the police officer cut in."I am sor
Liana's POVI took in a deep breath despite the way that my heart had juddered in my chest. Different thoughts ran through my head and the only thing that I wanted was to escape that moment that I had found myself in.Conan stood behind me and his scent wafted through my nostrils, soothing the inside of me before placing my hands on the doorknob and pushing the door to the interrogation room open.As soon as I stepped foot into the room, Kayla jumped to her feet but she soon slumped back to the chair as soon as she caught sight of Conan who sauntered behind me with a smile creeping at the corner of his lips.Kayla glanced back and forth between me and him before she spoke. "Honestly, Liana, was it necessary to let him know that I am here? You could have just told me that you were going to be bringing him along and I wouldn't have bothered showing face in the interrogation room at all" She said, not taking her eyes off him as she glowered at him in anger. Before I could complete my sta
Liana POVKayla made me ponder so much that I didn't know when my father barged into my room. I jumped to my feet in fright and I was so shocked to see my father in my room and he was holding some sort of documents or something like that."These are the divorce papers, sign it and I would send it across to Conan. You must cut all ties with him because he isn't someone that you can be with and I wouldn't allow you to be with someone like that" He said while his words caused my heart to sink into my stomach instantly. The thing was after everything that had happened between me and Conan since the day that I saw him in the police station, I didn't want to divorce him. I felt that it was all something that could be sorted out and ever since that day, there has been one crisis to another and with the way things were going, if Conan asks for the amount of money that was entailed in case I breach the contract, I doubted that father would be able to pay such huge amount of money.Plus, I didn
Conan I stared intently at Kayla, not taking my gaze off to get as I raised a brow which she frowned deeply. After what looked like a minute of silence, she slammed her fist into the table, her eyes blazing with fire. However, every one of her actions made me chortle before I finally leaned forward."If you don't keep calm, I am going to put a stop to every one of my plans and there's nothing that you would do about it! I would leave you here to pay for the sins of two people while your accomplice would keep making waves around the globe and you would spend the rest of your life behind bars! That is my promise to you," I said to her while she kept calm and swallowed even though she was still staring daggers at me.She blinked her eyes amidst rolling them and sucking her teeth. "How can I help you and most importantly, how do you want to help me?"I let out a smile. "Now you are talking but my dear, I don't plan on helping you because you would be coming back but this time, with what
Liana's POVMy father was bent on me going through a divorce with Conan and despite how much I was trying to tell him that I could make things right by telling Conan about my father's side of the story, my father was bent on making me divorce Conan and Matilda, she had grown into something that I had no explanation for. She was acquiring properties and although my parents didn't find anything wrong with it, I found a lot of things wrong with whatever she was doing, not to talk about the fact that her company was on the verge of being bankrupt! She was now acting nonchalant about things and although I don't talk, every part of me ached to enquire what was going wrong. But all of the time, I would always decide against it because someone as evil and selfish as her was not worth talking to.Amidst my thoughts, Bruce Lawrence flashed through my head, and to think that he hadn't tried to reach me concerning everything that had happened that day kind of bothered me, or has he forgotten tha
Conan's POVBruce Lawrence beaned with a smile as he took long strides in my direction while I forced out a smile as soon as my eyes and his met. He removed the hat on his head while waving to me from afar. When he got to where I was sitting, he stretched his hands forth for a handshake and I acknowledged his gesture before he took his seat and reached his hands for the glass of wine that was placed on the table specifically for him."I was so surprised when you called, I wasn't expecting that you would call me to meet you out here. I am greatly honored by this kind gesture from you" Bruce Lawrence said as she sipped his wine.A smile that faltered spread across my face and I leaned in the chair. "I don't think that you should thank me for this, I mean isn't that how you should treat the people that you call friends? I consider you a friend now and you and I would be extremely close,"He gasped, as he dropped the glass of wine in his hands, and his mouth slackened. "Are you for real?
Conan's POV.A groan escaped Bruce Lawrence's lips as he held his chest tightly with another hand placed on his stomach; as he groaned in pain, gritting his teeth as well, with his eyes reddened.Bruce Lawrence growled and because of the amount of pain that he was going through that conflicted with the wave of anger rushing through him, his veins were evident and that was when I brought out a gun and pointed it to his head."I am not going to repeat myself, Bruce! Who was responsible for my father's death? Is it your father or is it Liana's father?"He shot me a glare, his eyes blazing with rage."How am I supposed to know who the hell is responsible for all of this? How am I supposed to know who killed your father, when it wasn't like I was there? Why are you doing all of this and who exactly are you!" He asked, biting his lower lips in pain as he fell off the chair. A smile crept at the corner of her lips. "I knew that you would act like a fool and you would act like you don't know
ChapterLiana's POVThe most devastating news that I ever heard, the news that shattered me into pieces that caused me to be at a loss for words to say. Every part of me crumbled and the only thing I wanted to do at that very moment was to confront my father for doing something as horrible as that to me. But in the end, I knew that it was only going to lead to a dead end. I couldn't even believe that I believed my father only for it to turn out that he was using me because he knew that I was going to fall for his lies easily. One thing I needed to do was to talk to Conan and I knew that father could have forbidden me from leaving the house, but I needed to see Conan. I didn't even know how I would face him, how would I even tell him about what I heard?I had made up my mind to leave the house and find out about the truth no matter what so after I found out about the truth, then I would confront my father concerning what I heard him say.I didn't even know what to do as I buried my f
