LORENZO RUSSO

I always thought if I believed in fate, I couldn't believe in choice. I hadn't been much of a believer, but all that changed when Tiffany West entered the picture because there was nothing else that could explain it.

The thought of Tiffany and the baby she was expecting never existing without me in the picture wasn't possible. All three were a static pair and I had merely reached into the right pocket at the right time and made them mine.

The hard truth was, I had stolen someone else's fate, and I was never giving it back.

Tiffany and I had been married for one hundred and twenty-five days. I'd proposed to her again with a ring, a bended knee, and even a nice dinner. She hadn't wanted a big party so we made do with a small wedding in a church. I had the date tattooed on my chest, right next to her name.

I'd flown to Paris with Tiffany for the weekend getaway, and regretfully, it was our last night tonight.

"Last night in France." I lowered my head so my lips grazed hers

Dear Readers, thank you all for reading so far. This is the first part in the Mafia Obsession Series where everything began between Elena and Dimitri Castello.I really hope y'all enjoy it. Please don't forget to leave me a comment, I'm curious to know what y'all think about the book so far since it's my first attempt at Mafia dark romance.*****Warning! Matured Content!!!“You're making a deal with the devil Elena,” The deep timbre of his voice was thick with warning.“I don't care,”“This wouldn't be a walk around the park, you're asking for the keys to hell, Elena,”I paused, inhaling as the image of my dead parents and sisters flashed in my mind. “I still don't care,” I said, dragging my bottom lips between my teeth.Dimitri's eyes dropped to my lips. His gaze was hot and searing but they also battled with rage and indecision.“You should Elena because once you walk through the gates of hell, there's no going back,” His fingers grew firmer on my thighs, gripping the flesh, caressi

ELENA DUVAL“Elena,”“Elena?”“She's pulling through,” I flapped my lashes as a drone of a few voices invaded my mind. Gosh. They were too loud. I wanted to silence them all. To shut them all. To get some peace and put an end to the pain I was feeling all over my body. And the darkness that surrounded me promised to give me just that. Relieve from the pain and torture I felt.Once again, I stopped fighting. I let the weakness and pain in my bones swallow me completely until I was numb to them and I was falling back into the deep, endless pit of darkness.“We are losing her again!” A sharp voice pierced through the darkness in nothing but a whisper but I could feel the fear coated in the voice. “Stay with me,” It was begging for the impossible. I have lost every strength I had to fight. I just wanted it all to end.I was at peace. I had embraced the darkness and all its promises, not looking back. Not having any regrets.“Elena,” I heard. The sound of my name. “Elena,” It was a low dra

ELENA DUVALI held onto the white sofa with one hand for support, while I stared at the large wedding portrait of me and Mr Castello that hung against the wall of the massive main living room. A proof of my marriage with Mr Castello. We'd been married for two years already and I couldn't even remember a thing.I took a deep breath, blinking away the tears that were about rising to my eyes. I just couldn't understand how so much had changed within two years. How on earth did I end up marrying a stranger who was also Dad's business partner? Dad would never use any of his daughters as a bargain in business deals, so why did I end up with Mr Castello, going far away from my family and everyone that meant something to me in Texas, and moving here to California? What about Tyler, we were planning to get married. Why didn't we get married as planned? What on earth happened to me?My eyes burned with unshed tears, and once again, I pulled out my phone, trying to unlock it with a different pas

ELENA DUVALGrowing up, there was only one man who had the right to control my life. Luther Duval. My sweet Dad. And as much as Mr Castello's words had somehow sent a shiver down my spine. I hated it when people tried to control me or boss me around.I drew in a long inhale, still holding my breath as those words left my lips. They somehow made Mr Castello halt instantly with his back to me. Slowly, I turned around and I fell right into the trap of his cold gray eyes.He didn't say anything, his unreadable deadly stare only hardened as he took a step closer, and instinctively, my feet moved to take one backward. He took a couple of steps forward, and I took more backward until I was backed against one of the stone pillars and Mr. Castello's hard body pressed up against me. His eyes bore dangerous holes into mine.“What did you say, Elena?” He counted each word carefully, and they were laced with a terrifying tremor that caused my bones to vibrate against his.Suddenly, I felt my legs

DIMITRI CASTELLO“This better be important,” I shrugged off my jacket, receiving my phone from Chris. The damn thing has been ringing for hours. This was the first break I had had since I arrived in San Francisco. So far it has been exhausting, to say the least, I've had a whirlwind of meetings, and photo ops, and I had the unfortunate fate of dealing with complete idiots as business partners. But the good thing in all of this was I was finally closing an important deal with the Sanchez's in two hours. As I scroll through the endless list of missed calls, the only one that caught my attention was one from the mansion. I felt my entire body stiffen instantly at the thought of what could have possibly happened.Elena.That was the first name that snuck into my mad thoughts. I was about to call the mansion when a call came in.“Yeah?” I brought it to my ears.“Hello, this is Rose from JPMorgan Chase. Am I speaking to Dimitri Castello?”“You are,” I rubbed a thumb across my brow.“Great,

ELENA DUVALAll I could do was stare blankly at the car window and into the darkness with my blurry eyes. I haven't been able to stop the tears that flowed from my eyes since we left the station and flew out of Texas. No matter how I tried, I couldn't halt his words from repeating and echoing in the corner walls of my mind. If I wasn't sure before, I am now. I hated him.I hated him so much.As I shut my eyes, more tears still rolled out through the jammed gates of my eyes. There's nothing much to understand, Elena. And there's nothing to go back there for. That woman didn't lie. Your parents are dead. Your family is gone. And that's the truth. As his words repeated once more in my mind, I shook my head, sobbing silently.“What happened?” I had asked him right before I was forced into the private jet in Texas and all I could get were vague answers.Cold heartless answers. He couldn't even spare me a glance as he threw what he called the truth to my face. ELENA DUVALTiffany left much later in the day. She had to return to work after receiving an urgent call from her boss about a scoop in town. Her parents owned the biggest media house back in Texas and in a few countries, including New York.I stepped out of the shower box and pulled on the robe, hanging close by. It was a few minutes past midnight and I couldn't seem to fall asleep. I couldn't stop thinking about my sisters and then my mind shifted to the gala this weekend. I had to be there. DIMITRI CASTELLOMy brows furrowed and the corners of my eyes had begun to darken.Just one glance at her sent the blood rushing in my bones boiling. She was a fucking mess and I couldn't think straight. Just the red marks around her chin, neck, and Jesus, the fucking bruise on her lips made something within me snap. And I felt the anger that crept up beneath my skin. It was slow but searing. “Who hit you?” Was the first thing that left my lips as I withdrew my hand from her face. My voice was low and dark, sending a trembling shiver down her spine. Her body stilled suddenly, and I knew it wasn't because of the fucking rain. She was scared. She had no idea just what I was capable of but at least she had an inkling.“No one,” She answered with a trembling voice. Maybe I'd believe her if she wasn't a fidgeting mess already or if she wasn't covered in bruises. But nah, not even then.I knew it was a fucking mistake bringing her here. I'd known why she begged me to come here. To see tha

ELENA DUVALI narrowed my eyes as I walked slowly through the short hallway and soon, I found Tyler, my ex-fiance on the edge of the large bed with a woman straddling in, kissing him. She had half of her face covered in a brown mask that matched her dress.I froze in my next step and there was a small, unwanted prickle in my chest. I knew whatever had happened between Tyler and me, had been two years ago for him but for me, it felt like it was only a week ago. I had been married and there was nothing wrong with him moving on, and finding someone else or falling in love again. But still, the sight in front of me sent an ache to my chest.I could only believe it was natural. I had once loved him. And he was my first. We had grown up together building dreams of getting married and a future with one another. So yeah, it hurts, knowing our love and everything we shared had been reduced to nothing.I took a quiet step backward, backing against the wall as the woman he'd been kissing pulled

ELENA DUVALI didn't imagine I'd be this nervous. This was the first time I would be attending a party after two years and well, after what happened to my family. This was the first time I would be going as Dimitri's wife since our flash marriage two years ago was kept under wraps because of my family's scandal, it was safe no one knew who I really was. And thank goodness, tonight would be no different.“Elena, are you listening?” Tiffany's voice over the phone brought me out of my thoughts and my eyes took in my reflection once more in the mirror.“Yes, Tiff, I'm with you,” I brushed my palm against the softness of my dress. We'd been talking over the phone for hours now as we prepared for the gala. Tiffany would be in attendance as well. Not as a reporter, but as an invitee as well. Her family was a member of the Oasis Clubhouse where the gala tonight was held and Dimitri was the sponsor of tonight's event.“So what do you think?” Tiffany's voice shot through, and I brought my gaze

ELENA DUVALAs soon as I turned on the lights and turned around, I jumped and stifled a scream at the unexpected figure that leaned against the kitchen cabinet and blended just perfectly well in the dark. My hip had banged against the wall, sparking a jolt of pain through my bones and my breathing suddenly became erratic.“Dimitri, you scared me,” My voice came out way breathier than intended. “What are you doing up at this time?”Fuck. That was a stupid question and the way his full perfect brows tipped up a bit told me so. But I couldn't think clearly through the fog of adrenaline rushing through me.“Working,” He tipped his head just a little to the pile of papers scattered on the kitchen table which I was too busy calming my beating heart to see.I raised a brow, but I didn't say anything about why he didn't turn on the lights. But it was obvious, he wasn't just the devil, and dangerous. He also owned the dark, and most probably ruled it.However, I wondered why he couldn't just w

ELENA DUVALI woke up at the sound of the beeping alarm, pulling up from the bed, I glanced around the room, it didn't seem like Dimitri had returned last night. Last night he had left with his guests. I didn't know where he was last night or who he had been with but it didn't matter anyway. All I needed was for him to take me to the gala.I had wanted to wait all night for him, but unfortunately, I fell asleep at some point.Without wasting much time, I dragged my feet from the bed and changed into my black sports bra and workout pants. I had to look my best for the gala in a few days. Even though I wasn't yet sure if I was attending. I didn't know what I'd do if Dimitri refused.I walked out of the bedroom, taking the stairs to the gym downstairs. I entered the doorway to find Dimitri on the treadmill, running at a high speed. For once, he wasn't wearing a suit and a tie. Instead, he was wearing a black sweat pants that hung just low around his waist, and the upper part of his body w

ELENA DUVAL I pressed my lips into a smile, and with my heart almost in my throat, my gaze shifted from the guys, moving slowly, yet impatiently to the windows.Every nerve ending sparked with awareness sending goosebumps down my spine and oxygen out of my lungs as our gazes met.A shiver ghosted through me.Something in me cooled instantly, I felt my body frozen under the weight of his stare. He had his usual dark, cold gaze. But somewhere deep in his eyes, I could see a spark of fire in his eyes. It was tiny, just a shadow of flame, but it was enough to fill my stomach with flutters. Strange.I inhaled slowly. And released it.His eyes held mine for the briefest second before they flicked over me. I felt instant heat as his eyes roamed down my body, stopping briefly at where my dress stopped a few inches above my thigh. I was wearing one of the new dresses Tiff and I had shopped for.James shuffled in his seat, clearing his throat suddenly. The action seemed to cut through the tensi
