This was a man who killed for fun, yet here I was, and I didn't even know why. It couldn't be because of the insane feeling that kept growing in my chest. It couldn't be because I loved him.

Fuck. I had never loved any man in my life aside from my dad. And even if I ever did, I was almost sure it wouldn't be a man like Lorenzo Russo. It shouldn't be. Loving a man like him was trouble because I didn't belong in his world, and I didn't belong by his side. Yet here I was going against my own thoughts.

Before Lorenzo could get a glimpse of the confusion that lay behind my eyes, I took my fighting stance and swung my fists into action, aiming for his stomach. But unfortunately, he moved quick enough to evade my blows, gripping my hand, and pushing me against the wall. His body pressed up against mine and I fought the urge to moan from the pleasure just being pressed up against him was creating.

“If you've changed your mind and decided to kill me for real this time, then I apologize in adva

LORENZO RUSSOMy muscles relaxed only when the speedboat came to a halt and I safely tucked my gun back in my holster. We had just arrived at one of my mini resorts on Montenegro Island. It was the safest option until we found Leona and put an end to Frizz and whoever he was working for.I watched as Dario and my men alighted from the boat, stalking towards the house. I picked up the suitcase Tiffany had brought along, helping her out of the boat. All through the flight she had been awfully quiet. I wasn't sure exactly what was going on in her mind. Fuck, I wasn't even sure what was going on in mine.I was on the edge and was slowly losing it with Leona's kidnapping. I couldn't even imagine what she could be going through right now or what I’d done if it were Tiffany instead. The thought alone sent an inferno burning in me.I placed a hand on her arm, ignoring the stare she was pinning me with as I guided her into the house. I wasn't sure if I had made the right call bringing her here

LORENZO RUSSO“I’ll offer you safe delivery routes for your drugs through my territory. You lose more than half of your deliveries because either my men or Famiglia soldiers intercept them. Truce means you won't have to worry about it anymore. You can double your profits, and focus on the MCs,”“And all you want in return is to stay out of your fight with my consigliere?” Davano sounded suspicious.“You’re close with Camo Sanderi, aren't you?” I asked.“I am. He isn't one to look for trouble. Sanderi controls Montenegro and owns half of Greece. Why?” Davano asked.“Because I need him to utilize his peace-loving nature and turn a blind eye to my fight in Montenegro,” The last thing I needed was an open war with Camo Sanderi soldiers. He had never breached my territory and I had never breached his. And I'd like it to stay that way.“I'll contact Sanderi,” He paused. “And my niece?”“Dimitri will have his Famiglia soldiers drop her off in her house, unharmed. And if for whatever reason s

TIFFANY WESTHe held my gaze, working his charm like he always did while I paced back and forth in my head like I'd done throughout today, planning out exactly what I would say. Because I knew if I didn't have a strong argument, he'd win like he always did. But I couldn't let that happen tonight. For the sake of my sanity and my heart. I couldn't.My mind and my heart were in a complete mess. I didn't know what to do. After our moment in the training room, I knew without a doubt Lorenzo Russo had somehow managed to work his way not only into my panties but into my mind and heart, and I soon realized there was no way to get him out. This was the only way. I had to put up some kind of barrier between us until I figured out what I wanted.I wanted him. My heart wanted him. I didn't just want everything he could give, selfishly, I wanted all of him. But my mind knew the truth. My mind couldn't just accept that Lorenzo Russo was a Made Man. He wasn't like the others I had dated, he was the

TIFFANY WESTI rolled out of him, snuggling close with my head on his chest, and a hand running down his chest, tracing each perfectly defined abs and tattoos.“Lorenzo…” I inhaled, feeling his fingers running up and down my spine. It sent a wave of tingling sensation through me.“Yeah,” He kissed my temples. “Tell me what's on your mind,”My fingers brushed up his chest, and I forced air into my lungs. “What would you do if I wanted a divorce?”His fingers paused for a splitting second, and his muscles tightened. “I'd never give you,”His response made my stomach drop. “And if I ran away? “If you ran, Tiffany…” The words were malicious, yet somehow soft and desperate in a war-torn field. He pressed his lips to my ears. “I would find you,”I broke out in shivers. “And?”“Drag you back. You're my wife,”Anger finally lit in my stomach, and my gaze snapped to his. “I'm not a fucking piece of property that you own, Lorenzo. It's bad enough I was sold like a fucking cow. I refused to sta

LORENZO RUSSO“Come,”I led Tiffany back to the bedroom and stopped near the bed. I jerked my head to the door on the left, staring at her. It was barely noon, yet she looked painfully beautiful in simple jeans and a white body hug top that exposed the piercing on her little belly button.I felt myself go hard, and maybe if it wasn't for the important task today, I would have contemplated spending my day buried in that body of hers. But I couldn't. And the restless anxiety that followed me from the early hours of the morning still stuck with me. No, it only grew worse.I had started to believe bringing Tiffany and Dario here was a bad idea. Dario was a Russo and well capable of defending himself. Even though he hadn't been initiated yet, he had killed before during one of the Bratva attacks a few years ago and I knew with the proper motivation called survival instinct, he could kill again. But still, something about not being around them, especially now that Viktor was in Montenegro,

LORENZO RUSSO It was five after seven and my men were already waiting in ambush, blending into the darkness. We received the route Viktor would be using to meet up with Frizz from Savio and Ronan and we were waiting for him.It didn't take long before a line of three cars came into sight, and on cue, it began raining bullets, causing a return fire from Viktor and his men. One of his cars flipped over, while the others came to a halt from busted tires. The gunfire lasted a few more minutes before we cleared up Lorenzo's men, leaving just the bastard Russo. He had sustained a bullet wound to the stomach from the gunfire but was far from vulnerable. His cold-blooded eyes shot to mine as I stalked closer to one of the SUVs he had used as a cover. His eyes darkened when they met mine, and his lips pressed into a thin grimace. He remained silent, his jaw clenched as he watched me lower to my haunches in front of him.I examined him carefully, rubbing my hand on my jaw, then met his gaze ag

TIFFANY WESTI sat on one of the chairs in the dining room, cradling my cell in my hand while I stared at the sheer curtains billowing in front of an open glass door leading outside. I could barely see the faint outline of the deck chairs, the beach umbrella, and the corner of the pool. There were Lorenzo's men at every corner, and I honestly doubt anyone could successfully get past the mansion doors even if there was an attack, yet Lorenzo's words kept troubling me.I sighed, glancing at the time. It was almost eight, and the darkness outside made me grow more anxious. Stefano was a significant foot away from me; he was leaning against the wall, staring out into the darkness while Dario had joined the men outside twenty minutes ago, and I couldn't stop thinking about Lorenzo, debating whether I should call Lorenzo or not. I was going crazy with worry, I needed to hear his voice and know he was okay. Finally, I made up my mind to give him a call. But my worry only intensified as I lis

LORENZO RUSSO“Two at three o'clock,” Dimitri said, his voice low and quiet as they echoed in my ears.“One at ten,” I heard from Dimitri’s capo, Luca, just as I adjusted the little device in my ears.“Three on the balcony at four,” Ronan's voice seeped in as well. He had joined us after escorting Leona and the two girls he had rescued with Savio into one of our jets, and they were already on the way to Las Vegas.I slanted a glance over at Vito from the passenger seat. The car slowed as we reached the corner of Salvatore's street. He had forwarded an address the second our call disconnected.I took out my phone, sending a quick text to Savio. I was fucking worried, I hadn't heard from him since Ronan and he parted ways. I had no idea what the fuck was happening at his end with Frizz, and the younger Duval. He could be in trouble seeing as he wasn't even picking up or hadn't read my previous texts informing him about Salvatore's sudden appearance and Tiffany's and Dario's situation.“

ELENA DUVALI didn't imagine I'd be this nervous. This was the first time I would be attending a party after two years and well, after what happened to my family. This was the first time I would be going as Dimitri's wife since our flash marriage two years ago was kept under wraps because of my family's scandal, it was safe no one knew who I really was. And thank goodness, tonight would be no different.“Elena, are you listening?” Tiffany's voice over the phone brought me out of my thoughts and my eyes took in my reflection once more in the mirror.“Yes, Tiff, I'm with you,” I brushed my palm against the softness of my dress. We'd been talking over the phone for hours now as we prepared for the gala. Tiffany would be in attendance as well. Not as a reporter, but as an invitee as well. Her family was a member of the Oasis Clubhouse where the gala tonight was held and Dimitri was the sponsor of tonight's event.“So what do you think?” Tiffany's voice shot through, and I brought my gaze

ELENA DUVALAs soon as I turned on the lights and turned around, I jumped and stifled a scream at the unexpected figure that leaned against the kitchen cabinet and blended just perfectly well in the dark. My hip had banged against the wall, sparking a jolt of pain through my bones and my breathing suddenly became erratic.“Dimitri, you scared me,” My voice came out way breathier than intended. “What are you doing up at this time?”Fuck. That was a stupid question and the way his full perfect brows tipped up a bit told me so. But I couldn't think clearly through the fog of adrenaline rushing through me.“Working,” He tipped his head just a little to the pile of papers scattered on the kitchen table which I was too busy calming my beating heart to see.I raised a brow, but I didn't say anything about why he didn't turn on the lights. But it was obvious, he wasn't just the devil, and dangerous. He also owned the dark, and most probably ruled it.However, I wondered why he couldn't just w

ELENA DUVALI woke up at the sound of the beeping alarm, pulling up from the bed, I glanced around the room, it didn't seem like Dimitri had returned last night. Last night he had left with his guests. I didn't know where he was last night or who he had been with but it didn't matter anyway. All I needed was for him to take me to the gala.I had wanted to wait all night for him, but unfortunately, I fell asleep at some point.Without wasting much time, I dragged my feet from the bed and changed into my black sports bra and workout pants. I had to look my best for the gala in a few days. Even though I wasn't yet sure if I was attending. I didn't know what I'd do if Dimitri refused.I walked out of the bedroom, taking the stairs to the gym downstairs. I entered the doorway to find Dimitri on the treadmill, running at a high speed. For once, he wasn't wearing a suit and a tie. Instead, he was wearing a black sweat pants that hung just low around his waist, and the upper part of his body w

ELENA DUVAL I pressed my lips into a smile, and with my heart almost in my throat, my gaze shifted from the guys, moving slowly, yet impatiently to the windows.Every nerve ending sparked with awareness sending goosebumps down my spine and oxygen out of my lungs as our gazes met.A shiver ghosted through me.Something in me cooled instantly, I felt my body frozen under the weight of his stare. He had his usual dark, cold gaze. But somewhere deep in his eyes, I could see a spark of fire in his eyes. It was tiny, just a shadow of flame, but it was enough to fill my stomach with flutters. Strange.I inhaled slowly. And released it.His eyes held mine for the briefest second before they flicked over me. I felt instant heat as his eyes roamed down my body, stopping briefly at where my dress stopped a few inches above my thigh. I was wearing one of the new dresses Tiff and I had shopped for.James shuffled in his seat, clearing his throat suddenly. The action seemed to cut through the tensi

ELENA DUVALTiffany left much later in the day. She had to return to work after receiving an urgent call from her boss about a scoop in town. It turned out my dearest friend was now one of the best reporters at JK Media. And I was really happy for her. Tiffany also belonged to a wealthy family. Her parents owned the biggest media house back in Texas and in a few countries, including New York.I stepped out of the shower box and pulled on the robe, hanging close by. It was a few minutes past midnight and I couldn't seem to fall asleep. I couldn't stop thinking about my sisters and then my mind shifted to the gala this weekend. I had to be there. I had to meet Tyler.I changed into some night pants and a shirt. I couldn't wait for tomorrow. Tiffany and I were going shopping. I was changing more than my closet. I was going back to the young lady I used to be, and if I wanted to have a successful attempt at ensuring Dimitri took me to the gala, I had so much work to do.I headed downstairs

ELENA DUVAL “Tyler Whitman is a shameless thief and a conniving bastard. I don't know what happened between you both right before he broke off the engagement, you never told me and whenever I asked, you didn't want to talk about it,” Tiffany shifted closer. “But what I do know is that Tyler is a fake. He stole your work and idea, Elena, and now he's living his best life off your work. Over the last two years, Tyler has skyrocketed from being a complete nobody in the industry to the top actor of all time, all thanks to your script being stolen. Remember, the script you wrote two years ago when we were—”“Still in college,” I completed. “But Tyler isn't the type of person who would do that. And his father would have never allowed him to pursue a career in the entertainment industry,” Tyler was the only son left after his elder brother died in a plane crash back in high school. It was no secret I had wanted to major in directing back in college instead of business, and Tyler had an inter

ELENA DUVALAll I could do was stare blankly at the car window and into the darkness with my blurry eyes. I haven't been able to stop the tears that flowed from my eyes since we left the station and flew out of Texas. No matter how I tried, I couldn't halt his words from repeating and echoing in the corner walls of my mind. If I wasn't sure before, I am now. I hated him.I hated him so much.As I shut my eyes, more tears still rolled out through the jammed gates of my eyes. There's nothing much to understand, Elena. And there's nothing to go back there for. That woman didn't lie. Your parents are dead. Your family is gone. And that's the truth. As his words repeated once more in my mind, I shook my head, sobbing silently.“What happened?” I had asked him right before I was forced into the private jet in Texas and all I could get were vague answers.Cold heartless answers. He couldn't even spare me a glance as he threw what he called the truth to my face. My parents were dead. And what

DIMITRI CASTELLO“This better be important,” I shrugged off my jacket, receiving my phone from Chris. The damn thing has been ringing for hours. This was the first break I had had since I arrived in San Francisco. So far it has been exhausting, to say the least, I've had a whirlwind of meetings, and photo ops, and I had the unfortunate fate of dealing with complete idiots as business partners. But the good thing in all of this was I was finally closing an important deal with the Sanchez's in two hours. As I scroll through the endless list of missed calls, the only one that caught my attention was one from the mansion. I felt my entire body stiffen instantly at the thought of what could have possibly happened.Elena.That was the first name that snuck into my mad thoughts. I was about to call the mansion when a call came in.“Yeah?” I brought it to my ears.“Hello, this is Rose from JPMorgan Chase. Am I speaking to Dimitri Castello?”“You are,” I rubbed a thumb across my brow.“Great,

ELENA DUVALGrowing up, there was only one man who had the right to control my life. Luther Duval. My sweet Dad. And as much as Mr Castello's words had somehow sent a shiver down my spine. I hated it when people tried to control me or boss me around.I drew in a long inhale, still holding my breath as those words left my lips. They somehow made Mr Castello halt instantly with his back to me. Slowly, I turned around and I fell right into the trap of his cold gray eyes.He didn't say anything, his unreadable deadly stare only hardened as he took a step closer, and instinctively, my feet moved to take one backward. He took a couple of steps forward, and I took more backward until I was backed against one of the stone pillars and Mr. Castello's hard body pressed up against me. His eyes bore dangerous holes into mine.“What did you say, Elena?” He counted each word carefully, and they were laced with a terrifying tremor that caused my bones to vibrate against his.Suddenly, I felt my legs
