Diana

“What do you want?” I snapped at the snake. Shrugging, his grin widened.

“Just passing by. Imagine my surprise when I found you here, looking all scholarly.”

I turned away, refusing to give him the satisfaction of a response. Then, I plastered on a neutral expression, pretending his presence didn’t bother me as much as it did. He leaned against the doorway with a smug grin plastered across his face.

“But seriously, what are you doing here?” His voice carried a casual arrogance that grated on my nerves.

I turned back to the shelf. “Looking for a book to read.”

Eddie let out a low chuckle. “You? Reading? Since when did you develop a love for books? Last time I checked, you’d rather watch paint dry than crack open a novel.”

“People change,” I said simply, keeping my tone light, though my insides were irritating.

“Change?” he echoed, stepping closer. “You? Change? That’s rich. What’s next? You’ll tell me you’ve suddenly taken up knitting or decided to become a saint?”

I shot him a

Diana The night felt like a slow tease that prickled under your skin and left you restless. I decided that I wouldn't shy away if Asher came to my room tonight. Lila was dead, after all, and Asher was my mate. The bond burned between us like a wildfire. It wasn’t a crime. Not if the real Lila was gone. Maybe this would soften the inevitable blow when he found out the truth.I stood before the vanity and stared at my reflection. My heart raced as I slid into a black lingerie set that hugged my curves in ways even I had to admit looked good. The lace danced over my skin, and I adjusted the straps carefully, making sure it looked perfect. The fabric gave a teasing hint of my body. I spritzed a vanilla perfume, hoping the scent would excite Asher. The room wasn’t left to chance, either. I placed small candles around the space to create an intimate warmth. I adjusted the pillows on the bed, fluffing them just so, and draped a satin throw over the foot of the bed for that added touch of s

Asher The night stretched endlessly as I lay on the massive bed, tossing and turning. I couldn't sleep. Instead, my ability to sleep was replaced by a swarm of thoughts that clung to my mind like stubborn cobwebs. I stared at the ceiling and an unbearable frustration coiled tighter with each passing second. My marriage with Lila had been a battlefield, filled with, betrayals, and uneasy truces. I hated bringing up the memories, seeing that we were now fated, but they came uninvited. Back then, I had started noticing her changes. Her absence from the boys’ lives, the way she always had an excuse to leave the room when I entered, her phone constantly glued to her hand, the messages she’d quickly hide when I got too close. At first, I thought I was overthinking it, or perhaps I was just imagining things. But the evidence piled up were so obvious.Every time I confronted her, she denied it with the smoothness of someone who had practiced lying. “I’m just busy, Ash,” she’d say, rolling

Diana My ear pressed against the heavy oak door as muffled voices drifted from the other side. At first, I couldn’t make out much of the servants' gossip, but as I adjusted my stance, I realized they were talking about me, or rather Lila.“Do you think she’s changed?” a young voice asked, sounding skeptical. “People don’t just wake up one day and decide to stop being horrible.”“Maybe an exorcism was performed on her, and now the demons are out, and she can see the light,t,” another voice said, sounding amused.“Pfft,” the first one snorted. “And pigs can fly. You weren’t here last year when she made the head cook cry because the soup was too salty. She threw the entire pot on the floor and told him to lick it up.”“Oh, I was here, alright. Have you forgotten that she made me polish the silverware three times in one day because she said she could see her face but not her soul in the reflection?”They all laughed. The sound bit into me like a whip, but I kept listening.“A chameleon c

Diana I couldn't stop the nerves from gripping my heart. Asher crossed his arms and fixed me with a patient dog."Lila, trust me. This isn’t a debate. Seeing the doctor will help you."I opened my mouth to protest again, but his eyes silenced me.“I’m fine,” I muttered for what felt like the hundredth time. “You’re blowing this out of proportion.”He smiled softly and kissed my fingers one after the other. “Then humor me. If there’s nothing wrong, there’s no harm in going. Right?”Cornered, I had no choice but to nod reluctantly. “Fine.”“Good. Now, go get dressed.”---Knowing this outing wasn’t optional, I wore a simple green tunic. It had a wide belt cinched at the waist and short sleeves paired with sandals. When I returned to meet him, Asher was waiting by the door. The drive was quiet. I stared out the window, avoiding Asher’s gaze. For the first time since stumbling into his home, I was stepping outside the castle groundsThe sight of the pack stole my breath. The semi-urban l

Asher I focused on Lila as if trying to unravel every secret she held. Something about how she looked at me—soft but guarded—tugged at a part of me I didn’t know existed. The connection between us pulsing with a magnetic pull I couldn’t ignore. Her eyes drew me in. It was insane how the bond had transformed everything and made her the center of my world. Her breathing quickened, and I caught the flicker of desire in her gaze, mirroring my own. My fingers itched to touch her, to close the gap between us entirely, and I couldn’t stop myself any longer. Slowly, I reached out and drew her closer. My hands rested on her waist, feeling the warmth of her skin through the thin fabric of her robe.I leaned in and brushed my lips against hers, softly at first, to test the waters. The kiss was gentle, like the first raindrop before a storm, but the intensity built quickly. I groaned with desire when her tongue wrapped against mine and deepened the kiss, letting my desire speak for me. Her lip

Diana's POV“Darling, what’s going on between you and Eddie?"My heart skipped so hard it could have been auditioning for a circus act. I blinked at Asher, pretending I didn’t understand the question. “What do you mean?” I asked, keeping my voice even as possible, though I could feel the panic creeping in.Asher leaned back. His eyes flicked between Eddie and me, who stood off and looked far too relaxed. “I mean, I’ve noticed the dwindling rapport between you two. You don’t invite him to dinners like you used to, and the friendship you two had seems off.”I swallowed hard, fighting to glare at Eddie, who dared to look amused. “That’s not true,” I said quickly, shaking my head. I turned to Eddie, forcing a smile onto my face. “We’re fine. Right, Eddie?”Eddie tucked his hands into his pockets, enjoying my discomfort. “Maybe Lila’s just outgrowing me,” he said, his voice dripping with mock hurt.I gave him a playful nudge and burst into a fake laugh. “Don’t be ridiculous. Diana's POVI stood before the mirror, adjusting the gem-encrusted crown on my head. The rubies and emeralds sparkled under the light. It wasn’t too heavy, but it carried the weight of expectations. On my wrists, gold bracelets chimed softly as they shifted. I kept the jewelry minimal—Lila’s style may have been extravagant, but I wasn’t trying to blind anyone. My dress was a lavender silk that fell in gentle folds to the floor. It hugged my figure but wasn’t overly revealing, just enough to suggest elegance without making me feel like a walking chandelier. With a final glance in the mirror, I sighed. I’d been dreading this evening since Asher suggested I reconnect with Lila’s friends. Friends who probably thrived on scandal and gossip. I could only imagine what they thought of Lila’s miraculous return. When I stepped into the garden, the cool evening breeze hit my face, carrying the mingled scents of flowers and spiced wine. The guests were scattered around, and their voices rose and

Asher's POVI watched Lila out of the corner of my eye, and, for what felt like the hundredth time since her return, she left me utterly bewildered. The Lila I knew could barely sit through a meeting without finding an excuse to leave or turning the conversation into a complaint about her busy life. Yet here she was, standing amidst a group of widows, nodding intently as if their every word was sacred. She wasn’t just standing there. She was listening, really listening. She even leaned forward a little when one of the older women whispered something. I caught a genuine smile on her lips. The same woman who once scoffed at the mere idea of sitting through charity work was now whispering back to the widows in a low and compassionate tone. It was like watching a play where the lead character suddenly forgot their lines and decided to wing it. But it wasn’t bad; it was surprisingly good. Still, it was strange.Lila gestured to one of the attendants, and they brought forward small parcels

Asher My guest, Marcus, whom I wasn't particularly fond of but saw as someone I could see an advantage in allying with, had arrived. When he arrived, I had many back-to-back meetings and had to introduce him to Eddie earlier. Now, I joined them as Marcus bowed respectfully.“My pack sends their greetings,” he said, offering several boxes of gifts.“That wasn’t necessary,” I said, trying to keep my tone neutral. Internally, I wondered why I would need gifts from someone here to borrow money.“The queen has prepared us a sumptuous dinner; let’s join her,” I said, leading him to the dining room. The table was set, with the cooks and maids waiting to serve, but I noticed Lila’s absence.“Send for the queen,” I said, washing my hands. One of the maids bowed respectfully and left to fulfill my order. She returned moments later, bowing apologetically. “My king, the queen seems to be under the weather. She’s resting in her room, covered in a blanket, and has requested broth to be delivered t

DianaAfter successfully obtaining Theodore's hair, I went to the lab to get the testing done. But now I worried about what the technicians would think, and I had to navigate the delicate process of getting it tested without arousing suspicion.Being the supposed queen of the pack put me in the public eye. Gossip could spread like wildfire, and I needed to ensure this matter remained under wraps.I pushed open the door and slipped inside. The receptionist looked up as I entered and had a curious expression on her face. She recognized me and leaped off her chair.“My Queen,” she bowed.I hesitated for a moment, unsure of how much to reveal. "I need to get some testing done.” The head scientist, a man in his fifties with sharp eyes and a calm spirit greeted me. He didn’t strike me as someone who would spread rumors, but the people working under him might not be as silent."This is strictly confidential," I said, looking him straight in the eye when he led me to his office. "Can I trust

Diana I was getting ready for the night when I suddenly looked up and saw Josh standing at the entrance of my room. His mop of curly hair made him look even more adorable. My heart swelled with love and affection for him. “Hey, sweetie, come here,” I said, patting the bed beside me.He looked at me with a sad expression in his eyes and took a small step forward, holding a stuffed rabbit. My heart went out to him, knowing how he had been feeling down lately. I had been trying to spend more time with him and make him feel better, but with my own problems of unmasking Eddie and his cohorts, I wasn’t giving him the attention he deserved.“Come on.” I opened my arms wide. When he reached the bed, I scooped him up in my arms, lifting him onto the bed beside me. He snuggled into my chest, his hands wrapped tightly around me. I held him close, stroking his hair and back. All Josh needed was love and reassurance, and even though he wasn’t my biological child, if the tide turned in my favor,

AsherI lay in bed, sensing that something was bothering Lila. She was still, her back to me. I could feel the tension in her body in the way she held herself like she was trying to hold everything together. My hand rested on her hip. I waited for a response, hoping that she would relax into my touch. But she didn't. She didn't stiffen either, but she didn't melt into me like she usually did. Instead, she remained still, like she was a million miles away.Usually, when I touched her like this, she would turn around, snuggle into me, and we would spend the morning wrapped in each other's arms. I wanted to ask her what was wrong and fix whatever was bothering her. But I hesitated, knowing that sometimes, when she was like this, asking for answers only made things worse. So I stayed quiet, holding her, hoping that my presence would be enough to remind her that she wasn't alone. I held her close, feeling her warmth, her heartbeat, and her gentle breathing.Perhaps she was struggling with

DianaThe hotel doors slid open, revealing a lobby that screamed luxury. My eyes adjusted to the warm lighting that filled the space, scanning across the space in search of Eddie.I couldn’t wait to get this over with. I moved with quiet determination, making my way deeper into the lobby. Just as frustration bubbled to the surface, thinking the bastard hadn’t even shown up, I saw him. He was lounging on a sleek couch at the far end of the lobby, sipping a drink with the smugness of someone who thought they owned the world. When our eyes met, a wave of disgust crashed over me. I didn't bother to hide it. My stomach twisted, but I forced a cold, practiced smile onto my face as I approached him.“Oh, there you are,” Eddie drawled, his tone dripping with mockery. “I was beginning to think you wouldn’t show.”I kept my eyes locked on his, refusing to give him the satisfaction of looking away. Bullies thrived on fear, and I wasn’t about to give him any power over me. His smile widened as he

Diana I was halfway through my skincare routine, a ritual I’d adopted from Lila’s impossibly high standards. My naturally clear skin had never needed more than a splash of water and maybe some Vaseline on a bad day. But here I was, layering on vitamin C serums, retinol, and ridiculously overpriced products that smelled like spa treatments. It was wasteful, excessive, and insulting to the simplicity of my old life.I had nothing against skincare itself, but knowing that beneath Lila's glowing skin was a conniving, two-faced bitch made me hate every step of the process. A maid walked in, bowing awkwardly as if afraid of breathing wrong, and handed me an envelope. “From Beta Eddie,” she said. The sight of that envelope in her hands made my blood boil. Eddie was like a cockroach—impossible to get rid of and always lurking in the shadows, ready to spread his filth. What could he possibly want now? Another manipulative plea for attention? Another scheme to draw me into his web of lies an

Diana Reading Lila's journal had become a twisted daily ritual. Each entry was a masterclass in manipulation, leaving me torn between admiring her descriptions and wanting to throw the damn thing into the nearest fire. Her imagery was so vivid that I paused frequently, letting her words paint scenes in my mind. Every written sentence was soaked in her lies, and uncovering her little secret felt like peeling back the layers of a perfectly frosted cake to find maggots crawling inside. My stomach churned as I came across a particularly chilling entry—sketchy details about Eddie’s plans to overthrow Asher. The thought of such betrayal left me shaken. It was rare for someone in power to have even a handful of genuinely loyal people in their corner. Asher, unfortunately, wasn’t one of the lucky few. His so-called inner circle was filled with selfish bastards.I sat tucked away in the furthest corner of the house library, enjoying the silence as I read.---Lila's POVThe first few months o

Diana Standing at the edge of the dance floor and chatting with Lisa, my laughter bubbled up as Asher appeared out of nowhere. His possessive intensity caught me off guard, and before I could react, he swept me into his arms.“Oh, so feisty!” I giggled, still riding the high of my amusement. His movements were fluid and deliberate, and every sway of his body was perfectly in time with the music. My hips moved in sync with his, swaying in a slow, sensual rhythm that felt like it was just for us, the rest of the room fading into the background. His hands were firm on my waist, guiding me, holding me close as though daring anyone to even think about interrupting. Then he dipped his head and buried his face in my neck, his breath hot against mine. The intimacy of it sent a delicious shiver down my spine.“I want to eat you,” he murmured, his voice low and husky.A soft, dreamy smile replaced the playful giggle that had been on my lips as his words sank in, leaving a trail of heat in thei

Asher The day had been exhausting. Between discussing military strategies, settling disputes, and enduring countless petitions, I was ready to collapse. Yet the moment I reached home and saw my family, a surge of energy filled me. From the doorway, I watched Lila sitting with the boys. Jayden was fully engrossed in painting, his little hands smearing colors across the canvas with dramatic flair, while Josh lay sprawled on the floor, his eyes glued to a cartoon. My arms folded over my chest, and a smile tugged at my lips. This was everything I’d ever fought for—this chaos, this love.Lila sniffed the air, her head snapping in my direction. The bond we shared was unlike anything else; she didn’t even need to see me to know I was near. “Daddy’s home!” the boys screamed in unison, their enthusiasm rattling the walls. Before I could react, they pounced on me like tiny wolves.“Boys,” Lila called out with mock exasperation, “can’t you have pity on your dad? He’s been out all day.” She st
