Finding a friend.

“I must say, it pleases me that Alexandro has finally decided to settle down,” I said the words with his eyes on me even though Alexandro was sitting by his side. It was the same with his daughter who didn’t spare me a glance but her eyes were for my husband.

I smiled and nodded, “I heard most people were surprised.” I said the words easily, playing with my bare fingers, not knowing I was only drawing attention to it.

“You aren’t wearing your wedding band.” Ian raised his brow at me, he had acknowledged that Alexandro was wearing his.

“Yes, why aren’t you wearing your wedding band.” Alexandro echoed the question and I rolled my eyes internally.

“I was hoping I would pass off as a single woman,” I said the words boldly but internally my heart was fainting. I considered apologizing but it would only make it public knowledge that I was afraid of my husband.

Ian laughed, “It would seem like Alexandro the Great has finally met his match.” I was partially relieved when Alexandro laughed too
