Sonia's Confession

As Mateo looked at Sonia, curiosity gleaming in his eyes, he leaned back in his chair, silently inviting her to speak. Sonia took a step closer, her heart pounding in her chest, and with shyness and determination, she uttered, "Sir, I have something to tell you."

His attention then shifted to the letter resting atop the box, and he picked it up, his eyes scanning its contents.
