When we got out of the elevator on our floor, Cole put a hand on the wall and trapped my body within his as he looked into my eyes.

"I did not tell Kiera anything like that." He gritted his teeth and tapped his feet as he waited for my response, but I just pressed myself further against the wall and folded my arms.

"Are we going to talk about this here?" I asked hesitantly, and he gave a single nod and continued to pierce me with his gaze. In return, I rolled my eyes and gave an exasperated sigh.

"Okay. Fine. I believe you," I agreed and then held up a hand. "Why are you so determined on making me believe you?"

His gaze faltered and stopped at my lips for a second before he leaned backward and ran a hand through his hair. "Because...I lo–you know what? It doesn't matter." He turned away from me and swiped his keycard across the door lock. "Believe what you will."
