Denise Ashford, twenty years old, born to Mr and Mrs Gresham Ashford. The Ashfords were among the most influential families in Xela. If it was during the medieval times, then it would have been a family of dukes or viceroys or something like that. That's how much power they held especially in the political arena of Xela.
Denise was the second child, the first born being the twins George and Georgina Ashford. They were older than her by two years. From the moment Denise learnt how to crawl when she was a toddler, she could tell that she wasn't loved by her family. Her upbringing was left to the servants and she can't ever remember her mother holding her. Her father never talked to her and he would always treat her like an invisible thing. He never acknowledged her. Her two siblings were something else. They never gave her the time of the day. What they did best was beat and bully her whenever they got the chance. The three went to the sames schools but they made Denise know that she was never to disclose that they were related otherwise there would be hell topay. It worked well for her because she didn't want to be involved with them and so, she made sure to keep her distance from her two siblings who behaved like they owned the world. They were so pampered that it made Denise sad to think that they were from the same parents but their parents treatment of them was like heaven and earth.Denise remembers one day when she was ten. Her mother came to the kitchen where she was helping in cooking and threw a package at her."Tomorrow we have visitors coming. You better behave and don't say a word even when you are spoken to." She threw the words and walked out. Denise opened the package and in it was a new dress. The first she had ever received from her mother. The first new thing she had ever been given in fact. She looked at it and smiled. Did this mean that her mother was finally warming up to her? She wondered. From when she could remember, she never received any new clothes. The best she had were passed down to her from her older sister when they ran out of fashion. She didn't mind though. It wasn't like she went anywhere. Her place in the house was with the servants cooking and cleaning up the house. The following day, she was asked to be ready by six and she was. The visitors who arrived was their paternal grandfather and a few people she didn't know. She now realised why she was asked to be here. It was because of her grandfather. Among the visitors, there was a young boy around sixteen who was staring at her from the moment they entered the door. Denise didn't think anything about it because what would a ten year old think anyway? At the dinner table, Denise was all awkward because she wasn't allowed to eat with the family. She always ate in the kitchen with the maids and she didn't know the intricacies of such a sophisticated dinner. For example, she didn't know what dish to start with from the ones on the table. She sensed a glare and when she looked towards where that hot glare was coming from, she saw her mother looking at her with a warning in her eyes. Denise understood that look and as a result, she didn't eat much because she was afraid of the beating she will receive if she ever embarrasses this high class family before important visitors. After dinner, the adults excused themselves and went to her father's study to discuss whatever it was adults discussed indoors. She was left at the table with her siblings and that boy whose name turned out to be Caleb. Since she didn't have anything in common with these people, she left and went to the kitchen. By good luck, the maids had left food for her and after eating, she decided to retire to her roomn. Unlike George and Georgina whose rooms were in the second floor of the mansion, hers was small and was at the back of the house. It looked like the room was built as an afterthought and wasn't meant to be inhabited by anyone but she loved it here because it was away from her siblings and nearer the maids quarters. She knew that if anything was to happen to her, the maids would help her faster than her family would. She walked towards her room and what she didn't realise was that Caleb had been following her every step and when he saw her walk towards a place that had fewer and fewer people, he smiled lewdly and followed her. When she was about to enter her small room, she felt someone touch her shoulder and she turned. Good thing was she wasn't an easy going person. since her siblings would bully her left right and centre, and her mother would beat her at the slightest provocation, she had grown a thick skin. She had taught herself how to deal with bullies and even if she couldn't beat them physically, she had a sharp tongue that usually left her sister in tears. Even though she would be beaten after that, she would always smile remembering how that ugly face cried."What do you want?" She asked Caleb and he was taken aback for a moment because he saw a determination in her face that looked like it came from a grown woman."Nothing. I just wanted to see where you sleep. Can I come in?" He asked with a smile that made her suspicious."Why would I let you in my room and I don't even know you. No. You can't come in." She said and decided to return to the kitchen. When she took a step wanting to leave, he grabbed her by the hand and opened her door and then locked it from the inside after dragging her in."I wanted to be nice but it seems like you want it the hard way. You are so beautiful. Do you know that? And your brother dared me that if I sleep with you he will help me convince grandfather to buy me the latest Bugatti for my seventeenth birthday. So, this isn't personal," he said with a grin as he held her hand and dragged her towards her small bed."My parents will punish you if they know what you are about to do," she tried scaring him using her parents name but instead of showing fear, he laughed."Ha! You are funny! You think that I don't know that they don't care about you? They would even be happy if someone killed you," he said this time towering over her on the bed.She decided to try begging, "please don't hurt me. I'm only ten years old.""Don't worry. You are a big girl and it won't hurt. I will be very very gentle. I promise," he said with a smile as he started touching her everywhere. She felt disgusted and she knew that even if she screamed, no one would hear her as even the servants were in the main house cleaning up after the dinner. She had to act fast or she would lose her virginity at ten to a rapist. The little fighter in her couldn't and wouldn't allow that to happen. He would have to kill her first before he could defile her.Caleb held young Denise down and started undressing her. She didn't shed any tears as she had learnt from an early age that shedding tears didn't solve anything. It would just rile up her emotions and she needed to be sober as she thought of what to do next before Caleb actualised his evil plan. Yes he was stronger than her but she had to use her brain. Then an idea came to her. She always kept a pocket knife under her pillow because she wanted to be ready if ever her siblings did what they always promised. They always told her that no one loved her and that they would kill her the first chance they got, especially Georgina. She thus had to be ready just in case they thought of killing her. Denise reached under her pillow but Caleb didn't notice as he was occupied with raising her dress up above her knees and holding her legs that were trying to kick him in place. After she got the knife she raised her hand and stabbed him on the shoulder. She caught him unawares and he screamed inp
There is nnothing bad in this life than realising that what you thought was true wasn't. Someone feels played and they feel that life is a scam. This is what these men experienced. With the mentality that woman and girls are weak, it came as a surprise to see one girl beat them senseless. After the kicks she had given them, those men realised that she wasn't as fragile as they thought. They thus stood and surrounded her although the one who was elbowed in the spine was still trying to flex his back which was still painful. The one who was holding the knife attacked first. He swiped at her from her left and she bent backwards. She then held the hand that was holding the knife at the wrist and twisted. The man shouted in pain and let go of the knife. Denise took it mid air and let go of his hand. She then bent on one knee and stabbed his thigh. She did all these so gracefully that if one saw her, they would have thought that she was practicing a dance move. All this took less than ten
For almost ten years since her grandfather died, Denise had lived worse than a maid in that house she was supposed to call home. It was worse than the help because at least those were paid and had leave days. But for her, she worked even when she was sick. She just thanked her guardian angel as she rarely fell sick. What her family members didn't know was that she was living a double life. Since she had to hide and play hide and seek with her parents and siblings so as to minimise how much they saw each other, they thus didn't know her schedule. They thought that whenever they didn't see her around that she was somewhere in the big mansion doing what she was supposed to be doing: working her arse off for them. But after school, where she had joined the taekwondo and karate club, she went to a dojo where she had also enrolled for classes in a not so near distance from the estate where they lived. Since her father was a very well known man in the political and business arena of Xela, he
Georgina stood there gaping at Denise like she had seen Angel Lucifer in person. She couldn't just believe that the dumb girl they had bullied since they were born was talking back at her. She did the only logical thing she could have done at that moment, according to her: raised her hand and made to slap Denise. But like Denise had decided; she had seen and taken enough.in this house and it was enough. She raised her hand and held Georgina's. She couldn't let herself get slapped. Not anymore. She was through with that. The only reason she had allowed them to beat her however they wanted was because she was young and didn't know where she would go if she ever left home. But now that her father had refused to take her to theUniversity despite her good grades, she had nothing to lose. It's time she taught them a lesson they will never forget."How dare you!" Georgina screamed as she tried to take her hand from Denise's hold but she found that she couldn't. The grip Denise had on her ha
Denise felt braver than she ever has. She wanted answers and she wanted to leave here. She couldn't stay with these people anymore but she couldn't leave without the answers she wanted. She felt like screaming her heart out but she couldn't give them that satisfaction. She refused to break down l before them."How dare you!" Mr Ashton bellowed. "How dare you talk back to me? You are an abomination to this family! You caused the death of my sister and you are the one to talk? I will tell you why you are an abomination!" He continued but his wife pulled his hand as if asking him not to say anything."You want to know why I call you an abomination? I will tell you," he hissed but one again, his wife pulled his hand."Darling. Please don't. Just punish her for beating our children," she whispered but Denise heard her clearly."Why shouldn't he tell me? Don't you think I deserve the truth? Just tell me!" She screamed and Mr Ashton had had enough of her 'nonsense' as he called it. He looke
After Denise got to her house (if you would call that shack that), she put water in the one basin she owned and went to the shared bathroom outside her house. She had to lock her house first because she didn't want anyone to get to her house and maybe take the little she had. That's how little faith she had in humanity and she had every justification to think that. She slept with a smile on her face as she remembered the girl she saved and that the following day would be the auditions. She didn't have an eventful night, obviously, and she slept soundly until the time she normally woke up. Anyway, in this place there was no chance of oversleeping because people woke up as early as four to open their small businesses and others to go looking for work. That meant that the noise itself would wake someone up if your problems didn't.She got ready for the day. The auditions would start at ten but she preferred to be early because the last thing she needed was to be late and annoy the judges
Denise left that salon with a smile. She had not known that a simple beauty procedure could bring out her beauty in that magnitude. She felt like a totally new person and she could already imagine herself as Laura King. She knew she had the right height and size. Even her face, she knew that would be an added plus. What she wasn't sure of was her acting. She had never done it professionally but she was confident in herself. She was a go getter and she would do it.She boarded a vehicle and by nine thirty, thirty minutes before time, she was already at the venue. They were to do auditions in the hotel that had been mentioned in the advert and it was her first time being in such a place. It did not take her long to arrive as she had decided to be generous with herself. Since she didn't know the city well and she was not sure where the hotel was, she decided to take a taxi there and here sg was. When the receptionist who gave her the script saw her, she was flabbergasted and she looked
Laura carried her bag carefully and walked stealthily towards the safe. When she got there, she looked all ways to make sure that she was alone. She then placed the bag she was carrying on the ground and knelt on one knee. She looked at the safe and smiled. She caressed it and her look said that she had found her baby. She looked like a psycho who worshipped a safe at that moment. "Oh, my baby. How I love a good challenge," she said with an excitement that clearly showed that she was a pro at what she was about to do.She then opened her bag and produced a pen, a writing pad, a stethoscope (she had made hers from materials she could find) and a timer. She placed the watch at the floor and smiled, "only two minutes to break you. I love breaking beauties don't worry. I will take good care of you," she talked to the safe again with a smile and she giggled. She looked like a beautiful psycho who was entirely focused on what she was doing. She then took the stethoscope and placed the diap

For those who enjoy one on one action, happy reading!Denise was Ansel's first love and likewise, Ansel was Denise's first love. What that meant was that they both were clumsy in their actions but they were both really determined to make it memorable. Denise had never done this again but she didn't just want it to be like any other night for Ansel. She wanted it to be something that would be remembered by this man for a long long time to come. After that kiss, she excused herself to go to the bathroom and Ansel did just that. He was already aroused and if Denise was experienced enough, she could have told from the way his eyes clouded with desire. But she didn't and thus she couldn't tell. All that was on her mind was to make this night special and Ansel was also happy she chose to go to the bathroom at that time because he was feeling like his boner would explode from all the ne
When Denise got out of the bath and wore her night clothes, food was already waiting for her on the small table in their bedroom. She looked at the arrangement and wondered whether Ansel had been sent by someone to torture her heart. He had already done enough but he never got tired of doing things for her. He never got tired of taking care of her and that really made her heart warm. This was a brand new feeling for her and she loved it. She also wanted to experience that feeling for the rest of her life. What Denise didn't know was that to Ansel, he didn't think that he had done anything special for her. To him, this was the normal treatment one should give to the person he cares about let alone the one he loves. But to Denise, who had never experienced any kind of care at all in her whole life, this was humongous. She appreciated every little thing he did because she knew what it was like to lack. She thus appreciated him big time for what he was doing for her no matter how minimal.
Denise slept for the better part of the afternoon into the late evening. All this time, Ansel was sitting there like a faithful dog waiting for her to wake up. She had requested him to be by his side and he was going to honour that promise even if it meant not going back to work. For Denise, he was ready to work overtime for the hours he would miss. He also loved being near her and seeing her this peaceful as she slept like a baby actually made him feel peaceful in his heart. Her abduction had really shaken him and he had to be here to make sure that it was true that she was here and safe.During the time that she was asleep, he had taken a shower and asked the butler to prepare light foods for her for when she woke up. He was sure that she would wake up famished since she had missed lunch. He was thus ready.Denise had the best dream she has had in her entire life. In her dream, she and Ansel had been married for ten years and they had two children: girls. Ansel had spoilt the chil
Ansel helped Denise board their car on the gun shot seat and he drove them personally but there was a bodyguards’ car behind them. He could not trust anybody else to drive her home after the scare he got. He had never felt so scared in all his life and he just wanted to make sure that she got hone safe. He wanted to stay with her to reassure his troubled heart.Denise sat there obediently like a school girl holding onto her bags. She didn't want to talk because she knew that her emotions were allover and she didn't want to annoy the man who sat there looking at the road. She just felt so happy and grateful that she had this man in her life. Denise had never been this emotional and she felt embarrassed about it and she didn't want to embarrass herself more than she already had."A penny for your thoughts," Ansel said bringing her back from her stupor. She turned and looked at him but lacked words to tell him. She really didn't want to talk because she knew that if she did, the well th
At the same time that Denise was settling scores with Mandy and her goons, Ansel was going crazy looking for her. It was after thirty minutes that one of thebodyguards who took the driver to the hospital called Kai and told them that the driver was conscious now and had told him something. The vehicle had a GPS tracker and it was on when he was carjacked and beaten and he didn't think that the kidnappers knew about it.This was the breakthrough they had been waiting and praying for. Ansel had really prayed even though it was a long time since he had.Immediately Kai was told this, they sent the information to their IT guru and within minutes, he had the location of the vehicle. He immediately sent it to Kai and Ansel and his men immediately drove towards thatarea. It was a run down building where there was no sign of life and what gave them hope was when they found the taxi and another car parked next to it. Since they didn't know how many people were there, they waited for all the
Denise looked at Mandy and wondered why and where all the hatred came from. She didn't know the other woman and she really didn't think that even if it was a grudge because of taking Ansel or humiliating her the other day, it warranted her asking her people to kill her."Why do you hate me so much first of all? Do we know each other from somewhere?" Denise asked Mandy because she thought all this crazy. How can one hate someone else out of their own delusions? It wasn't normal. But she needed to hear it from Mandy herself because maybe she had a reason."Do I have any reason to hate you? You took my man away from me. Isn't that reason enough? I hate your very guts!" Mandy said through gritted teeth but Denise just looked at her with pity in her eyes. Really? Did Mandy just call Ansel her man?"Has Ansel ever told you that he loves you or has he ever given you any reason to believe that he does? Has he ever behaved in a way to suggest that he mightwant you?" Denise asked her again,
Denise had known that marrying Ansel would come with its own troubles but she didn't expect it to come so soon. She should have expected that there were people who were in love with Ansel in his own home but she never suspected that any of them would go as far as trying to take her life. But it was okay, they were giving her the experience she needed to live in this world that she had found herself in. She loved Ansel and she was ready to fight for him… literally. She sat on the couch again but her heart was still aching. Every time she would look at the bag that had been holding the food she had bought for Ansel and then think of how these fools had eaten it, she would feel so bad that she would feel better after beating them again. This time, even the guy who had been shot was no exception. They were beaten so badly that they could not speak well because their lips were the sizes of sausages. On the other side of the town, Ansel was going mad as his people tried tracking that taxi
These men regretted underestimating Denise and taking her nonchalance as fear and helplessness. If they had known that she could handle a gun and she knew how to fight, they would have recruited more men or even dealt with her more ruthlessly and without delay. They sat on the floor in a line like obedient school children and faced her. She then sat back on the couch and bent her back a little, parted her legs and placed her elbows on her knees and looked at them the way one would look at children. She was like a mother teaching her children how to be good boys. She was dangling the gun before them and they seemed visibly scared until one decided to be brave. "Do you even know how to use that thing? Stop pretending! Our young miss told us that you are a nobody. So, stop pretending to be brave. Why don't we fight and see what you can do?" He said and she smiled at that. An eerily scary smile that had him regretting why he said that. "Okay," she said just that and pulled the tri
