Kirk walked into the room and glanced around. Seeing that no one else was in there, he stepped back and tugged at her scarf.

His face fell instantly, and he asked, "Who did this to you?"

Caroline couldn't meet his eyes. She hadn't expected him to find out about this so easily. She thought she had done a good job at covering it up.
