Chapter 940

"Argh!"

Caroline shot up from bed in the middle of the night. Even Betty, who was staying in the room next door, heard her scream and rushed out of her room and into Caroline's.

"What's wrong?" she asked. She noticed the sheen of sweat on Caroline's forehead and sat down beside her.

"Was it a nightmare?" Betty asked, her heart aching for Caroline.

Caroline's hands were cold and clammy when she gripped Betty's.

Warmth spread to Caroline's hands. She sighed and nodded as she threw herself into Betty's arms.

"It's okay. I'm here," said Betty as she lightly patted Caroline's shoulder.

"You should try to sleep."

Caroline raised her eyes to look at Betty and said, "Okay."

She lay down on the bed like an obedient child. Betty stayed for a while and turned to leave when Caroline's breathing steadied.

But then, Caroline opened her eyes all of a sudden and asked, "Mom, will Aunty Mary be there when the results of the short story competition are announced?"
