Chapter 681

Silence filled the air again after Caroline left.

"Chery—" Jack started.

"Stop. You listen to me first." Cheryl straightened her back. "I was wrong last time. I shouldn't have gotten mad at you."

"You were being kind by introducing me to someone else." She continued, "I'm so sorry."

Jack suddenly found himself at a loss for words. The two of them sat quietly in the car after that.

Sometime later, Cheryl broke the silence and asked, "What were you going to tell me just now?"

Jack was about to say something but thought better of it. He shook his head and told her, "It's nothing. I have nothing to say." The words that were on the tip of his tongue just now disappeared.

"Can we still be friends?" Chery asked.

Staring into her smiling eyes, Jack found himself sympathizing with her. "Yes, of course."

"That's great," Cheryl said. "So, we'll just pretend like nothing happened then?"

"Okay …"

"Well then," said Cheryl, her tone sounding much more cheerful than before. "Let's go
