Chapter 587

"The big four families?" Caroline pondered out loud.

"I don't know anyone who had been adopted into those families."

Strangely, though, a child would appear out of the blue in some of the families.

Then, the families would claim that the child's parents were their relatives' or even say that one of the women in their families had given birth to the child out of town.

To put it simply, they wanted to spare themselves the embarrassment of admitting that the child was illegitimate.

These children certainly weren't adopted. After all, the families took bloodlines very seriously. They would never allow an outsider's blood to taint their bloodlines.

"Please help me take note of this then," said Marietta as she glanced at Caroline.

"I've only just gotten some news about my daughter."

"Don't worry," Caroline told her.

"I'll help you ask around."

"Thank you so much, Carrie."

"No worries. It's the least I can do."

They chatted some more and soon arrived at the restaurant.
