When Caroline walked into the office, her colleagues seemed livelier than usual as they greeted her in a flurry. Nothing had changed, and yet everything had changed.

Caroline played with the pencil in her hand, still thinking about Jack. He seemed like a loyal and honest man, not some bad person. But why had he lied about the company hiring him?
