Unable to sleep, Coralis and Victoria decided to go for a walk. It was cold outside, so they stayed inside the school building. The school had so many hallways and staircases, that they could easily walk for an hour without seeing the same wall painting twice. Moreover, less risk of getting into trouble if they weren’t caught outside past curfew. As they approached a staircase, they heard some whimpers coming from behind a wall. They stopped walking and tried to figure where the sounds were coming from. “You heard that, right?” said Coralis. “Yeah, I’m not sure is the person if crying or in pain, or both… but where is it coming from? Sounds like it’s coming from behind that wall.” The girls stood between an outside window to their left, and a wall to their right. They started to closely inspect the wall to their right, in case there was a secret lever or a hidden lock. Both of them were convinced that the whimpers were coming from right behind it. They patted the wall, passing their hands over the entire wall surface. Eventually, a hidden door opened. They paused. They didn’t know which one of them had a hand on the hidden lever, but they found the secret door, and it was all they cared about. They glanced at each other, shrugged and walked through the door. As soon as they passed it, the door closed right behind them. They stood still, as they processed what was in front of them, they quickly realized that it was a bait. There was a window across the room, the moonlight passing through it cast large shadows on the wall next to the door. Two demons stepped out of the shadows. “Corhaaliniakhys!” both of them said at the same time, staring at Coralis with a grin spreading on their face. They raised their left hand to wave at her, indicating her to follow them. Coralis shook her head. “I don’t know who you are or what you are trying to tell me. I am not going to follow you. I don’t give a shit about what my parents have done or ever said to you, I am not going to follow in their footsteps.” Suddenly, she saw Victoria flying across the room, with one of the demons holding her by the throat. “If you don’t come, she comes with us,” said the demon holding her. Without hesitation, she pulled her wand out of her robe and threw a laser to try to cut the hand of the demon holding her friend. She missed, but it was enough to distract the demon and made him loosen his grip. Victoria ducked as soon as she could and tried to crawl to the wall they entered from. Coralis got into a fighting position. Something stirred within her. She tried to shoot another laser out of her wand, but it bounced off her hand, and fell off the ground, burned out. She was very angry and upset. She didn’t want to follow them and she saw red when they tried to take her friend instead, so she lost control of her emotions. She could feel her aura fizzing at her fingertips with raw energy and she tried to use that as a weapon. In the meantime, two teachers were walking down that hallway and heard a commotion from across the wall next to them. Unlike Coralis and Victoria, they knew where each secret lever was. They opened the hidden door and walked through it to check on what was going on. They saw Coralis injured, Victoria lying in a corner near the shadows, unable to move. One of the demons was on the ground and Coralis was in a position to fight the other one, despite her injuries. As soon as they realized that two other mages had entered the room, the demons disappeared. Swope, one of the teachers who walked into the hidden room, saw enough to know that Coralis and Victoria had been fighting demons. Not just any demons: Swope was convinced that the two demons he saw were associated with Lord Meozo. Borin, the other teacher, was a mythology teacher. He was well versed in demonology and all types of mythological creatures. He saw some demon blood on the ground and collected a sample. He always had sampling paper and an empty container on him. “Tell me, girls, what brought you here at this time?” said Swope as he was looking at Coralis’ injuries. She had deep gashes across her right shoulder and on her ribs. Her left shoulder looked broken and she had blood coming from her eyebrows. Victoria was slowly moving to a sitting position. “We couldn’t sleep,” answered Coralis. “I couldn’t shake off the feeling that something or someone was watching me. We were walking down some hallways when we heard someone whimpering. It came from across that wall,” she raised her right hand toward the door they came from. “We couldn’t see a door, but when we inspected the wall, because the whimpers clearly came from across it, we found some kind of lever and a door opened.” “But there was no one crying when we got in this room. I swear we could hear someone in pain from across the wall, but then two ugly guys came out of the shadows and one of them tried to take me because Blue didn’t want to follow them,” said Victoria. Swope and Borin looked at each other. If Lord Meozo was back, his associates would go after the descendants of the loyal ones who got killed. Although it was well past curfew, they didn’t want to give the girls a detention: they were baited there and Coralis was their target. However, they would need to explain what happened to Principal Arthurio. “Are we in trouble?” said Victoria. “Blue saved my life. I know we shouldn’t be here and be fighting, but these creatures almost took us.” “No, you won’t be in trouble, we’ll make sure of it”, answered Borin. “Ms. Golmar, what you fought were demons. Honestly, considering that you are only 12-years-old, I am impressed that you have been able to stand your ground against them and remained in one piece. I’m sure that Swope agrees with me. I am a lot more concerned about how these two demons got here and managed to lure you in.” “They called me a weird name. Sounded like my name, but it wasn’t, “said Coralis, thinking about the name they used when the demons saw her. “Corhaaliniakhys, that’s how they called me.” The teachers’ eyes went wide for an instant. This confirmed that the demons were specifically targeting Coralis, and tried to use Victoria as leverage to get her to come willingly with them. “Never ever repeat that name to anyone,” warned Swope, “unless you absolutely need to and trust the other person. Actually, don’t even repeat it to any of the school administrators. The demons called you by your true birth name, the one your parents used to introduce you to their god. The true birth name of an elemental has power. If you would have been marked, they could have used it to summon you wherever they want, but you are too young for that and your powers are still developing, so all they could do was to try to lure you somewhere.” “Speaking of summoning,” said Borin, “they injured Ms. Golmar and drew blood. If one of the demons managed to get some of her essence under their fingernails, they could also use it to summon her. She’s young, very young, but her aura is active, her essence is developing its energy signature, so in theory, she could be summoned.” “True, hopefully they didn’t get enough of it to be able to do anything with it,” said Swope. “We need to speak to Principal Arthurio and the school administrators to reinforce the school wards before they try again to take students. For now, Ms. Golmar, let’s get you to the infirmary. Ms. Millous, Borin will take you back to your dorm.” Borin noticed a burned wand not far from Coralis. “Is that yours?” he asked her. “Yes,” said Coralis. “I was trying to throw a stronger laser spell to cut his hands, but it was as if the spell got stuck in the wand and it burned it inside-out.” “It happens. We aren’t witches,” said Borin. “For us, a wand acts mainly as a conduit and amplifier for our energy. If we load it with too much energy at once or try to cast a spell too strong for it, it can overpower the wand and burn it. Tomorrow is Sunday, I’m sure Martha will be able to take you to Glasgow so you can get yourself a new wand. You had a beginner one, make sure to buy a more advanced one this time.” The next day, most of her injuries were healed. Her left shoulder was still broken and she was worried that the cuts on her ribs would scar, but the uneasy feeling of being watched was gone. Martha was granted permission to take Coralis to a wand shop in Glasgow. Usually, when a student needed a new wand, their parents would get it for them and send it to the school. However, Coralis didn’t have any living parents. As her guardian, the responsibility fell on Martha, but she couldn’t buy it for her. Coralis needed to be there, to make sure the wand would be compatible with her energy: Martha wasn’t of the same bloodline and had a completely different type of elemental energy. Martha was a potion teacher. However, she was also very skilled at defensive magic. Concerned about the threat looming over Coralis’ head and that the school didn’t take it seriously, she decided that she was going to personally give Coralis additional defence classes, just in case she ran into more demons while in Montreal, away from school grounds. On the way back from the wand shop, Martha instructed her to come see her at her office at 20:00. From this point on, every Sunday night before curfew, she would give her some advanced lessons in defensive magic. Just like the two previous summers, Coralis went back to Montreal for a few weeks when school ended, then traveled to the Fullemons mid-July. This time, she didn’t feel like someone was watching her at the airport. The day before Coralis, Erik and Henry were to go back to school, Swope visited the Fullemons. He wanted to speak with Coralis. He knew that the Fullemons cared about her and he trusted them enough that his conversation with her didn’t need to be kept from them. In fact, he figured that it was probably better if Henry and Erik knew what was going on, as the three teenagers were close and often hung out together at school. “Did Ms. Golmar tell you about what happened this past February?” Swope said to the family. “Victoria said that she fought demons and saved her life”, said Erik. “When the boys told us what happened,” said Kief, “right after they got home from school, we tried to contact the school to find out more about it. Barla and I were worried about Coralis’ safety once she was out of school grounds, but they wouldn’t tell us anything, because we aren’t her guardians or family.” “I can assure you, even Martha is fighting the school administrators to get information,” said Swope. “The fact is, two demons have been able to breach the school ward and attempted to kidnap students. I know what I saw, so does Borin. I believe that Lord Meozo is back and is currently targeting Coralis because her parents were working for him. However, Principal Arthurio and the school administrators refused to take the threat seriously. They think that a student summoned the demons as a prank.” “Do you think it could have been a prank?” asked Coralis. “I don’t feel like I’m being watched anymore.” “This was no prank, and you know it” said Swope. “I remember very well the time when Lord Meozo was alive, this has his smell all over it. When Lord Meozo found out about you, he most likely saw your dad through you. He prepared a trap to get you under him, but that failed. He may have left you alone for the past few months, but I don’t trust it, I’m sure he will try again with a more refined plan.” “Are you serious about Lord Meozo being back?” said Barla. Erik and Henry were listening with interest. They remembered what Sean told them about his friend Julian. “Do you know if Julian, the guy who was attacked 2 years ago during the EET, is also in danger?” said Erik. “Yes, to both questions. I am serious about Lord Meozo, but Principal Arthurio doesn’t believe so. I am also certain that he is also going after M. Dewarp, but he is under a different school jurisdiction and I believe that he graduated this last spring, so I’m less concerned about him at the moment. In the eyes of the elemental community, Julian Dewarp is now considered an adult.” “We tried to take Coralis under our custody for the entire summer, but human bureaucracy is very complicated,” said Barla. “I’m glad to hear that he didn’t go after her this summer, but what about next summer? If he is truly back, then this mess is only getting started and he needs to be taken down again before he becomes stronger.” “I agree with you entirely,” said Swope, “and that’s also why I’m here. I cannot do anything to facilitate procedures regarding Ms. Golmar custody, but I can help ensure that she stands a chance against him. Ms. Golmar,” Swope turned his attention to her, “I know that Martha started to give you additional defense classes on Sunday evenings, and that she plans on continuing that when you get back to school. On Wednesday evenings, at 20:00, come see me at my office, and I will give you advanced combat lessons. I know that you usually have flyball practices on Wednesday evenings, which should start around mid-October, but I want you to come to my office when practice is over.” “Why would you do that?” said Coralis. “If the principal doesn’t believe the threat is real, would that put you in trouble?” “I am concerned about the safety of the students when they are on school grounds. If a cursed creature is specifically going after you and the school isn’t stepping up to improve the safety protocols that are currently in place, then the least I can do is to help you get stronger, so that if he sends more goons or comes after you himself, well you can hopefully resist long enough for people to have time to get you out of his claws. I’ll take the heat if it comes to me.” During the school year, Coralis didn’t receive more letters and she wasn’t feeling watched. However, she did take Swope’s warning seriously and as instructed, every Wednesday and Sunday evenings, she met with Swope and Martha for combat and defence advanced lessons. Come the End-of-Year holidays, she was exhausted, both mentally and physically. While Martha insisted on teaching her how to defend herself against mind control, Swope taught her advanced combat spells. He knew that Coralis was already very skilled in hand combat, and it wasn’t likely that she would have any weapon on her when they came to her again, so he focused on elemental combat spells. Mid-February, Martha had to take Coralis to Glasgow again to get a new wand. There was an inter-school flyball competition coming up soon and Coralis would need to travel to France with her team. Just in case something was to happen while there, and knowing the summer was also approaching fast, Martha convinced her to buy a second wand.April 22, 1994 Every 4 years, there was an inter-school flyball competition between the strongest teams of the world. During March, regional leagues would host small tournaments to determine which team will get to participate. United Kingdom had 4 flyball teams: two for the Glasgow Elemental School, and two for the Imperial Elemental School. This year, The Brazen Bolts were selected to represent their region at the inter-school flyball competition, which was held in France. Erik and Henry were looking forward to it. They didn’t get to participate at the last inter-school competition because their team hadn’t been selected. They heard that scouts for the national teams would often attend and that even if they weren’t looking into recruiting new players at that moment, they would then keep tabs on those that got their attention, especially if the players they wanted were simply too young to be recruited. Coralis was also excited at the idea of scouts attending the competition: she was
March 31, 1995 Coralis was beyond exhausted. For the past few months, she’s been spending all of her time between classes, flyball, additional classes and the library. She felt like she had no free time for herself, even if in fact, she considered flyball practices and games as fun times. She missed the shenanigans with the Fullemon brothers or with Victoria. She wanted to end it with Lord Meozo. She hadn’t received any random letters for over a year, but she remembered them well and didn’t want to receive any more of them. She was tired of it all: of the looming threat hanging above her head, the uneasy feeling of something watching her and waiting for it to concretize, the overloaded extra-curriculum activities, and all of those people who thought she would start worshipping Lord Meozo just because her parents did. At 19:00, she was sitting in the library, once again, trying to research what had been tried before to destroy the type of creature that Lord Meozo was. As far as she
May 26, 1995 Coralis could not sleep. She barely slept the entire week, regardless of how exhausted she was. She couldn’t shake off the feeling that something was about to happen. Lord Meozo was the topic that was on everyone’s lips, everyone had a story to tell. The school didn’t share any news about him, because they didn’t want students to panic, but relatives and friends outside the school would write everything about it in their letters to students. The elemental population was frightened: they didn’t want to lose their aura to Lord Meozo. The students knew they were safe at school, but the school year was almost over. What would happen when they get home? What would they come home to? Coralis knew the school wasn’t as safe as the administrators wanted the students to believe and she knew that it was a matter of time before he came for her himself. At 4:00, she got up and went to the window to sit on the ledge. The windows were locked, but she had found a way to open them. Loo
June 30, 1995 It was Coralis first flyball game with the Canadian national team, against Spain. Flyball seasons started mid-August and ended the first week of July. The top 8 teams then had 2 weeks of playoff finals to determine which team would win the Silver Cup. The season was almost over, with only 3 games left to it. The team wasn’t going to make it to the playoffs and the remaining games were on home turf, so the coach decided to let their three new reservists play: Coralis, Lydia and Sebastian. Lydia was 17, a fellow attacker, while Sebastian was 16, a goaltender. Although Lydia and Sebastian were supposed to be graduating at the end of the following school year, the team had also signed them up for 2 years as reservists because of other contracts with other players already in place and just in case they would have an additional year of schooling to complete. She was introduced to everyone as Blue Thunder, as per Martha’ stipulation. Coralis didn’t mind it: she was used to s
March 23, 1996 Coralis was in Denmark with Martha. The school had agreed to let her play in some weekend flyball games, provided that Martha would go with her: she was still considered a minor in their elemental laws and customs. While they walked through town after the game, heading back to their hotel after stopping for coffee, three vampires started to follow them. They sensed that something was following them, but didn’t know how many people. They tried to lose their stalkers, but they didn’t know the city. “What is it this time?” said Coralis. “I think I want to bait them in an alley to find out who sent them and why they’re after me this time. Lord Meozo better not be back again.” “I think our stalkers are vampires. We should indeed get them to follow us into an alley, to at least get them away from humans. Lord Meozo cannot come back, you made sure of that.” “Authorities said that 15 years ago and they were clearly wrong,” said Coralis. “You heard Borin when you got back
August 1, 1998 Coralis was lying on the couch, her legs hanging down over the armrest, in the middle of the living room of the flat she shared with Erik, Henry and Gus. She was exhausted. “Tell me again why we have to go out for drinks?” said Coralis. “Do we really need to remind you about what day it is today?” replied Henry. When she had to be in London for training with the EBEE or help on missions, she stayed with Erik, Henry and Gus. When she had to be in Montreal for flyball practices and home games, she would mostly stay in hotels or in small inns located in a pixie area near the flyball field. Once in a while, she would sleep on Victoria’s couch, but she didn’t like to go there because there were too many people living there. After graduating, Victoria went to study in a human college: she wanted to get into human medicine and there was a 2-years program that she had to follow as requirement. She was living in an on-campus dorm. “I know what day it is; I just don’t want
November 19, 1999 After her flyball game against Columbia, Coralis flew to Victoria’s dorm window. Victoria had started a medical program at the university to become an optometrist. Her dad’s family being human, she wanted to be able to better help them to see the world around them. It didn’t matter to her how gloomy the world seemed to be some days; it was still beautiful to see. Victoria wanted to help humans see the world for what it was: colourful, vibrant, full of beauty. As she approached the window’s ledge, Coralis jumped off her flying stick and transformed into her black cat form mid-air, right after shoving her stick into her cloak. She landed on the window’s ledge as a black cat and scratched the window. “Hey Cheetah, did we win?” said Victoria, as Coralis transformed back into her mage form. “Yup, we did. Columbia’s team is better than it was last season, but they’re still lacking in cohesiveness. You missed the game?” “I literally just got back. Human university is no
March 13, 2000 Coralis had to attend a mating gala hosted by the Swamtons, a prominent fay family. They wanted their eldest son and heir, Ollyo, to find a bride. They invited dozens of single elemental women of prominent families or who were powerful. Coralis didn’t want to go. She knew Ollyo very well: he was always surrounded by all kind of women. She didn’t think that there was any species that he didn’t sleep with. She dated his cousin Rowan for a short period of time, but his father was always in their business and they ultimately realized that it was better for them to remain friends instead of pushing for a relationship that would feel forced. The Swamtons were close to Coralis’ parents. They told her to bring a single friend with her. She was still a little bit angry at her parents: she thought they should never have gotten involved with Lord Meozo in the first place and stood up to him, but she didn’t know what their deal was exactly with the Swamtons. She also remembered h
December 24, 2002 – 21:35“There is a lot of truth to that, I think,” said Coralis.“What about your bloodlines? You two are pure-blooded, right?” said Lizzy.“Yes, we are. Mine originates from the Roman goddess Salacia, we’re water mages. We’re close to our god and although most of my family lives in an elemental realm… somewhere underground… we never agreed to the radical ideology that wants us to rule over humans. We believe we should guide and protect, not rule and enslave.”Sebastian removed his vest and rolled up the short sleeve of his shirt to reveal what looked like a small tattoo behind his left shoulder, a pattern symbolizing his family goddess.“When we reach maturity, usually a few years after graduation, but depends on bloodline and, well, life events,” continued Sebastian while putting his vest back on, “we get the mark of our family god. It appears on our skin overnight or gradually, depending on the bloodline.”“Oh, so we could potentially be in danger from your kind?
December 24, 2002 – 21:00“Uh, right, sure. I admit I’m not fully knowledgeable about human marriage rituals, I mean, ceremonies, except from what I saw in the movies I watched with Stephanie. I’ve had classes on human society at school so we can blend in better, but the teacher didn’t elaborate on the marriage part. Coralis might have to teach me about it,”“Nah, my past among humans taught me about divorce, I’m not a reference there.”“Right, so. Yes, we view mates as soulmates and unlike humans, we don’t do divorce. For us, when we decide to take a mate, it’s a forever thing and the ritual ensures that. However, I will also point out that when it comes to mixed couples, I mean, when an elemental takes a non-elemental mate, or spouse, we may or may not do the full ritual, it depends on the couple and uh, the non-elemental partner,” said Sebastian.“Why does it differ, is it because it involved a certain amount of magic?” said Frank, his arm still around Coralis’s shoulder.“Partiall
December 24, 2002 – 19:10“BRO!” said Stephanie and Frank at the same time. They all stopped eating.“Why would we?” said Coralis.“Humans aren’t our enemies, I don’t see why we would kill you all just because we could,” said Sebastian.“I’m not trying to offend anyone, but I can’t help myself from wondering if you’re all into a fake bubble, feeling safe when you aren’t, although I can hear myself thinking clearly, so I don’t know. I’m confused about all of this. Coralis, if you grew up in orphanages, shouldn’t you hate us all? Unless you didn’t.”“BRO! That’s enough!” said Frank, then looked at Coralis, “Luv, you don’t have to answer him.”“It’s fine,” she said while massaging his thigh to reassure him. “It’s a legit concern, especially considering the current heated climate among elemental clans and other supernatural. There are a lot of clans and factions out there that want me to hate humans enough to turn against them.”“But you would never, I know you would never, right? Neither
December 24, 2002 – 17:45“Uh, kind of,” said Coralis, looking between Frank and Raymond, confused.“BRO!” said Frank, quickly turning to his brother. “They aren’t witches and they aren’t here to kill you.”“Sorry about that,” said Linda, walking to them to collect their winter coats and bags. “Raymond found out when Sebastian and Frank arrived. He asked questions about Audrey school’s situation and why you were the one to pick her up. He doesn’t know everything yet.”Audrey was holding tight to Coralis, which didn’t go unnoticed by Frank. It meant a lot to him that his family was accepting of Coralis and how close she and Audrey became. Lizzy got up the stairs and went around Raymond to meet up with Coralis and Audrey.“Sebastian and Lizzy said they were mages, so they’re witches, aren’t they?” said Raymond.“No, Ray, they aren’t,” said Stephanie, looking at her brother through the railing. “A witch and a mage aren’t the same thing. Let us explain it to you before you jump to conclus
December 24, 2002 – 16:00Sebastian and Stephanie arrived at Louis’ house.“Hey Ray, I wasn’t sure you’d be here tonight,” said Stephanie.“Misha’s family decided to visit their family in Italy for Christmas and flights to go there are too expensive for me.”“I don’t know your situation, so I apologize in advance if I’m out of line… but if she wanted you to come and you wanted to go… could she have covered the cost of your flight tickets?” said Sebastian.“Don’t worry, you’re fine. I’m sure she could have, her family has money, but she didn’t offer and I didn’t ask. I heard Coralis is taking Frank to Scotland tomorrow?”“Yeah, and she didn’t offer either. She just paid for his tickets when she booked them, she knew he wanted to go.”The doorbell rang. Sebastian was still standing by the door so he answered it.“Hey Frank! Coralis and Audrey aren’t with you?”“They should be here around 6. Their flights from St. Johns got cancelled, they had to take another one that had a layover in Ha
October 22, 2002 – 22:40“Who is Mousse?” said Molly.“She is Pier’s mother, I believe,” said Lizzy.“Yes, that is correct. Mousse is also involved in this mess,” said High Mage Finnas.“About the school, I would like to have Audrey transferred to the Northern Labrador Elemental Institution and if her mother agrees, I would like permission for a mind-link. That way, if something else ever happens at school or when she’s with her mother, she can reach out to me instantly.”“Granted. Both requests. I will get back to you regarding her transfer to NLEI, but you can go ahead with the mid-link.”Lizzy wondered what a mind-link was but didn’t want to interrupt. Remembering all that happened during the past 2 days, she didn’t care what it was: if Coralis thought it was a good idea, she would agree to it. She had seen enough to know that she could trust anything coming out of Coralis’ mouth when it came down to Audrey’s safety.“Thank you. Before coming here, I spoke to Lucida Chorms, the mot
October 22, 2002 – 22:18Everyone was holding their breath. Neither Coralis nor Dwayne got back up. Frank wanted to rush to Coralis, but Sebastian stopped him.“She isn’t dead, isn’t she?” said Lizzy, her hand covering her mouth.“I want to go to her,” said Frank.“She probably stam’ed out, but we can’t go in yet. Given how much energy has been discharged during the battle, it's not safe for humans to get close to them, not until the lingering energy starts dissipating. If there is no movement for 5 minutes, the officials will go have a look.”A few minutes later, High Mage Finnas and the two CMMA officials walked into the circle to check on them.“What does stam’ed out mean?” said Louis.“Means she entirely drained her energy and passed out, out of stamina.”High Mage Finnas stood back up and whispered something to Vectan. The CMMA representative nodded and headed to Audrey’s family.“Blue Thunder won the duel.”Lizzy hugged him and Frank released his breath.“She stam’ed out?” said
October 22, 2002 – 21:03“Your brother should have known better than to make that kind of deal with a human, you know it’s against our laws to begin with and I didn’t have to accept it.”“That may be, but only Audrey’s new guardian can accept it and duel me, you should know better.”Coralis remembered what Frank had told her about his conversation with Pier. Feeling proud of him despite the situation, a grin appeared on her face. She held her wand tight in her left hand and had her right one stretched next to her, palm facing him.“You are facing Audrey’s new guardian,” said Coralis as she threw a laser beam at him.He tried to dodge it, but the laser went right through his left hand.“LIAR!” he said while throwing her a blast of air, throwing her backward in the air, “Audrey’s cousin said the guardian is his girlfriend. Where is she?”Coralis shifted into her panther form as soon as she passed the shadow line, and landed on four paws behind a treeline. She crouched and transformed ba
October 22, 2002 – 16:50Frank looked at her. He was speechless.“Our laws and customs do not allow an elemental to make that sort of deal with a human unless he, or she, is a marked mate of an elemental. Blue and Frank are a couple, yes, but she didn’t mark him as mate,” said Sebastian.“Like how shifters mark their mate? I know all about what mates mean for werewolves, is it the same for elementals?” said Stephanie.“It’s similar. Like it is for werewolves and most shifters, the ceremony surrounding it is the equivalent of a marriage, a mate is a soulmate, but the ritual isn’t the same. There is no biting involved and there is a spiritual aspect to it,” said Sebastian.Frank was listening with interest to what Sebastian was saying. He knew that a long-term relationship with Coralis was possible, but it didn’t occur to him that their customs regarding marriage would be different, so he never thought about asking her about that.Coralis’ hologram vibrated. She pulled it out of her clo
