Sitting in her office, the ringing of the phone, placed at the corner of her desk, made her jump. She had been staring at the pictures again. Even going as far as to pin them up on her way map of the town as to where the bodies were found. Hey bulletin board was littered with post it notes with dates, times, and other significant details of each victim. Dropping the red twine she had been trusting strong each tack, she picked up the phone."Investigator Jones, how can I help you?" She spoke into the receiver, all professional and routinely."Cilyna, I need you to come down to Seventh Street. There's been another attack." The Chief of police's deep voice boomed through the ear piece."Yes, sir. I'm on my way." She threw the phone back onto it's cradle, grabbed her leather jacket and started for the door. As she passed the kitchen, headed for the front door, her husband stopped her."Supper is done, honey. Where are you going?" He said after noticing her jacket draped over her arm."Th
"I need to have a word with the Hybrid Alpha. May I pass, please?" Kaynon stood on the border of Ciaran's territory.'What business do you have with him?' Jake, Ciaran's beta, replied standing his ground to protect his pack from any threat, even from a once highly respected alpha suck as Kaynon."I need his help to track down this coven I've been dealing with." Jake stood in silence, his fur rippling with the breeze as he heavily considered the rogue alpha's words before he replied. 'Remain in your human form and follow me. You will be flanked by two of my males to ensure you mean no harm.'"Understandable." Kaynon replied, tilting his head in a slight bow, respectfully, as he fell into step behind Jake and two wolves fell into step behind him, spread further apart to cut off all exits. As they arrive at the pack house, home of the alpha and his family, a red haired boy of about six or seven comes barreling through the front door."Uncle Jake! Give me a ride! Please!" He grabs a hand
Cilyna found her leather jacket that had been wrenched from her body before she shifted and draped it over her shoulders, thanking whatever god for her getting one that covered down to her knees. She done up the buttons, noticing one sleeve was ripped at the seem by her shoulder, then found her way out of the coverage of the trees. Her hair a disheveled mess, her feet bare, she approached the edge of the grass, where it met the asphalt and where the whole scene began. The Chief was about thirty yards away from her, peering into the thick foliage, calling her name. Funny, he dared not let his high dollar leather shit kickers leave the man-made ground."I'm here, Chief." Cilyna called weakly, his head whipped around in her direction, she almost caught whiplash from the speed. The sound of his boots clapping across the pavement, echoing over the trunks of the trees were magnified due to the stunned silence around them. Cilyna could feel that all eyes were on her, a couple news crews comi
Thomas could get his heart squeeze at the sight of his wife lying sprawled out on the floor. A vision of strength and beauty, one of the reasons he fell in love with her. He could not believe he was so blind that he did not know his only love was there enemy his father and the counsel have been forcing training for. He rubbed his sweaty hands over his face, trying to wipe away his feelings from the past eighteen years. "Why did it have to be you?" he muttered as he stared at her unconscious body."You and our children! Now I will be forced to do things I do not want to be subjected to." he bellowed knowing she was not going to respond. If Thomas had not followed her and seen with his own eyes what she truly was, he never would have believed it to be true. He had brought the twins to they're neighbor at the end of their road and parked his truck just outside of the blue light range. He watched as everyone began screaming when Cilyna was dragged into the dense foliage and disappeared.
"Yes, sir. I have her captive." Cilyna heard a male's whispered voice from afar. "I'm not sure if that's necessary." She heard regret in his tone. "I understand. Yes, sir. I'll bring her right over. What would you have me do with the children? They should not be subjected to the same fate, they're only children." Cilyna's eyes popped open as fast as the speed of sound at the mention of 'children'. Her pupils landed on the male she thought she knew better than herself. The man she fell in love with and had had children with. "I don't believe they pose a threat. They are only half breeds, there is a possibility they will never come into that side of their genetics." He continued, slumping his shoulders at the response he received."Understood." He said in defeat.Thomas had his back turned towards her bound body with his phone pressed to his ear. Frustration and sorrow etched in the muscles of his back. If it were not for his voice, she never would have recognized him. Clad in a blac
"How could you?" She screamed at him, borderline growling with rage."Don't make this harder than it already is." He grumbled, gripping the steering wheel hard enough to turn his knuckles white."After everything we've been through together! Our children we had together! The life we built together! And you volunteered to kill me yourself! How could I possibly make things harder for you? Why did you not tell me you were part of a secret organization of hunters?""Would it have changed anything? No, you would still be what you are. Our children could have been avoided, I suppose.""Thomas, I abandoned that part of me a long time ago. I was too young, and blocked that part of me out. I only recently figured out that I am what I am." She sighed."Enough of the lies!" He bellowed, jerking the vehicle to a halt in the middle of no where, surrounded by trees and foliage."The vampires you're working for are liers!" she yelled. He jumped out, jerked her door open and pulled her out by her hai
"The Hunter's have already gotten the children." Kaynon whispered to Ciaran at the entrance of his cave."We'll have to track him. It's not going to be easy to do without her, but she is in no condition for such a mission at this point." Ciaran replied, just as quietly."I agree, she's still getting used to shifting and reconnecting with her wolf. She'll ravage anything and everything in her path.""You'll need to stay here with her. Keep her safe, not just from anything harmful out here, but safe from her losing her sanity because of this." Ciaran ordered."Yes, Alpha." Kaynon turned towards the glow of the flames lighting the stone walls."Oh, and Kaynon? Now would not be a very good time to talk to her about mates either." Ciaran said, gripping his shoulder firmly."I know. I know." Kaynon said with a sigh before walking in his den and sitting beside Cilyna."So what's the plan?" She asked, her gaze never wavering from the orange and yellow flames licking up the sides of the logs.
Cilyna had had enough of sitting around in Kaynon's cave while those men were off doing only God knows what while her children were kidnapped. She dropped the bear skin blanket covering her naked flesh and immediately shifted. She was not exactly sure where she was but looking out the mouth of the cave she could just see the wide space the town should be located and twisted her paws in that direction."I have to find my babies!" She declared to no one."We need to start with the last place they were to follow their scent trail." The soft, low rumble of her wolf's voice echoed through her mind."So what, you're helping me now?" Cilyna asked in disbelief."They are mine to me as well. I am part of you and they are part me too." She declared and Cilyna could feel the pride and protectiveness from her wolf as her words echoed. Now, with more determination than ever, she urged herself forward as fast as she could. She reached her home first to grab some clothes, there was no way she could
"So what's the story that has been passed down through our family history?"Cilyna asked her mother after they got supper cooked for everyone and Cilyna got her children settled for bed. They were not to happy about having to share their rooms but finally agreed when she explained it was only temporary until they found everyone else's family's. "It started when the moon goddess's twin sister went against their father, the god of all creation, and created her own beings. The vampires and witches, who ravaged all life. He ordered the moon goddess to create a being that could rival the goddess of darkness's creatures, to restore balance but she could only alter what was already created." Cilyna's mother began. ******************************************************The full moon's silvery glow shines down as a spot light on a pure white wolf with golden eyes that glowed with the magic of the moon goddess. She leaned down to get a drink from the cold steam and suddenly noticed a pair of e
"Mother?" Cilyna repeated as she shifted into her human form."Yes my darling. It's me. I'm so sorry I've had to stay away for so long. I've missed so much." she spoke, Cilyna ran to the wolf and threw her arms around her neck as tears spilled down her face into the soft fur at her mother's neck. "I thought I would never see you again! So much has happened! I'm sorry, I'm too old to be blubbering like a child but I've missed you so much!" Cilyna rambled, her voice muffled in her fur as her mother nuzzled her back. Cilyna had all but forgotten about Kaynon standing behind her until he wrapped a blanket around her shoulders to cover her naked body. She did not know where he grabbed it from, she also did not care at the moment but she was grateful as she pulled it tighter around her as she stepped away to look her mother in her eyes. "We have so much to talk about. I have two children now, twins and they're five years old." Cilyna started and closed her mouth when she saw the shock in
"Very clever trying to use our own potions against us. But it will not work, you see we have detection spells for just such occasions and your plan failed miserably." a rather large pale man stepped into the moonlight as he chuckled."This is not good." Kaynon muttered as more vampires and witches stepped from the line of shadows the trees cast across the back yard.Cilyna was not surprised that they had returned. She half expected it, though she was surprised at how fast they came. "How do they keep finding us so quickly?" Cilyna said without thinking."Did you really just ask that question, Cilyna?" Kaynon said "It was a rhetorical question!" she yelled before shifting and lunging for the vampire leading the group. He dodged her easily, jumping straight up and flipping over her. Rather gracefully for a larger man who looks out of shape. Cilyna slide right into the manicured hands of a female with black hair that followed to her hips and bright blue eyes."I finally get to meet my
Getting Rasmosis to help set up the traps around the yard was not easy to do. His strong objections were due to the vials interfering with his magic to find the families of the young witches."I have to pull as much energy as I can from the earth and if I do, I could possibly trigger the vials accidentally." Rasmosis said angrily."Without the traps set we won't be able to keep you safe properly for you to do your little spell." Kaynon growled, glaring at him."I'm just saying wait until I have found every witches family first." Rasmosis said between clenched teeth."How long will it take?" Ciaran spoke up while Kaynon was trying not to lose his temper."For the dozen witches? I'll need at least five hours." Rasmosis turned his eyes away from Kaynon's yellow gold stare to look into Ciaran's onyx colored ones."It can be done but my wolves will be patrolling in the mean time."Ciaran spoke with finality.Kaynon walked away from the young wizard before he ripped his head off him self for
After everyone ate, Cilyna went into her office to look over her map to try and find any clue for where exactly the main headquarters for this new council was. She stuck a green pin in the location where she was taken by Thomas, than she stuck another green pin at the location they found the kidnapped kids were. The two pins were on opposite sides of the town. There had to be another location where they all resided, Cilyna was sure of it. If they could eliminate this threat, at least in this location, it would be easier to find other locations with the same issue and it would be safer to get everybody back to their families."Can I ask what's got you so focused to have been in here for the hours?" Kaynon's soft tone have Cilyna a stay as she turned away from her map."Oh, you startled me!" she said as her hand flew to the center of her chest to cover her racing heart."I'm sorry. So what are you looking for, maybe I can help." Kaynon replied with a smile, stepping closer to her at the
Kaynon and Ciaran split up to circle Cilyna's house coming up empty. Content that everything was safe though to move the group of males in, Kaynon tried the door. Jiggling the knob he found it was still unlocked. They made their way inside and they all got comfortable sitting around in the living room."Coast is clear for your return, Cilyna." Kaynon mind linked as he walked around the inside of her home."Ok, just don't pay attention to the mess in sure is there." she quickly linked back. Her words made him smile because her home was incredibly tidy. A place for everything and everything in it's place. Kaynon found himself in her office at the back of the house where he first observed her through her big bay windows overlooking her back yard. His eyes tailed over all her paperwork and over her bulletin board. The only messy part of her home was her board, littered with pictures and hand written sticky notes. The board underneath had a map of the town. Each picture was in the location
After leaving the dinner, not without leaving fifteen hundred dollars for their meal and a generous tip on the table Kaynon and Ciaran had occupied, the group headed to the large public park so the smaller children could play while the older ones sat down at under a gazebo for a serious chat."So, we know that we'll have to get in touch with the Rocky Mountain pack, the Lotus pack. My mates previous pack, the Black River pack. In my opinion you are better off in another pack, Raven." Ciaran gave a pointed stare to a girl of around thirteen who decided she was grown enough to sit with the adults."What do you mean, alpha?" the girl asked."Nevermind, little one. The choice is yours all the same." Ciaran smiled kindly."And I will need my computer to find the coven of witches, but I will need help since a month ago I didn't even know any of this could be real." Cilyna chimed in."I can help with that!" a young man who looked to be around sixteen or seventeen pushed his way through a few
Kaynon woke with a splitting headache and the most wonderful sight in front of him. Cilyna's worried stare shifted to one of relief as his eyes landed on her and a soft smile graced his lips. She helped him to a sitting position and he grabbed the back of his head."Do you remember what happened to you?" Cilyna asked holding out a glass of water for him, he took it graciously taking a long sip and swallowing down."The only thing I can remember is sitting someone in the house and then I got hot over the head from behind. What happened?" he asked looking between Cilyna and Ciaran. "When did you get here?" he asked puzzled."Cilyna linked me that something was wrong and I can running." Ciaran explained."Yes there were two men, hunters. They tied you up and put you in this car before one the other. Ciaran and I dealt with the other. They were lying in wait for us again not sure if we were going to come back but apparently they know enough about me from Thomas that I'm perfectly predicta
"We will travel to the local dinner for breakfast. We're going to move in the same fashion as last time, smaller children on the inside and the older gradually moving outward to the edge. So if everybody ready to move?" Ciaran barked out orders after everyone was awake."Would it be ok if Kaynon or myself could scout ahead and grab some clothes from my house for those who have shifted so they can at least have clean clothes on?" Cilyna asked through the mind link as to not cause a stir, and she wanted a little more practice linking with individuals."That is a good idea. You two will go out first and link back to make sure the address is clear as well." Ciaran agreed before linking Kaynon with instructions.Cilyna found Kimberly and Xander amongst the crowd. Chloe and Kade were bouncing around their legs. The sight brought a smile to her face as she thought what a pack life would mean for her children. "Hey my darlings!" she greeted her children while she walked up."Mommy! Are we go
