Chapter 0005

Livvy's POV Continued

"So, what brings you to town? We don't get many newbies around here when it isn't tourist season."

"Hmmm? Oh, I had vacation time from my job, decided to go out camping when I got a bit lost, found this town on a map so I headed in when I saw the storm rolling in. Then I managed to get a flat tire. The rainwater is coming down so hard I couldn't manage to change it, I tried a few shop doors before coming across yours.

I guess the others locked up when the power went out, or just closed because of the storm, thankfully you didn't so I could get out of the rain, as well as some nice conversation and great food."

"I appreciate that, thanks. Glad I didn't lock the door before I ran to the back then, honestly I didn't think anyone would even be out in this to go lock the doors."

He chuckled, it was so deep as he looked up, I could see his eyes glow momentarily before he shook it off to hide it, thankfully I stayed looking down so he didn't think I had noticed.

The storm was still raging on as we sat there making small talk with one another before the rain began letting up finally. Just before two, Kayla came running inside, she shook herself off before she removed her hood to be startled by me sitting there with this man in the dark.

"Holy Shit! I, I mean, sorry. I was just taken by surprise. No power here either huh? Crap."

"Hopefully since the storm is letting up a bit they will have it back on soon. I better get this all cleaned up. Do you want anything else?"

"Thank you but I'm okay, I better get going now, try to change my tire, or find somewhere to stay for the night. Thanks for keeping me company, umm, actually we never shared our names. I'm Byron, Byron Chase."

"Happy to have met you Byron, I'm Ellie. If you give me a few minutes I can help you since Kayla is here now, my shifts about pver anyway."

"You don't have to do that."

"I don't mind, just let me get this stuff into the kitchen and grab my raincoat."

I didn't give him a chance to object, I truly wanted to see if he had a flat tire or if he was lying to me. I was anxious about him being here. Steadying my breathing I cleaned up then pulled my raincoat on as I headed back out to the front to find him standing by the door waiting for me.

Calming my racing heart so he wouldn't pick up on it, I had to hide my fear of going out with him alone, especially to his vehicle in which he could possibly grab me while forcing me back home.

"Ready?"

I asked as I handed him an umbrella making him smile at me, his head tilted as the light hit my face a bit better from outside but he shook his head then turned away from me.

'Please be telling the truth, I know this is probably a stupid thing for me to do considering who he is, how he has to know my dad, but I had to know despite this horrible weather.'

"It's just down the block, are you sure you want to help? It's still raining pretty badly, I would hate to be the reason you got sick."

"I really don't mind, I was taught how to change a tire when I was a kid by my dad, he always said a the a girl should know how to change their tire or the oil in their car, so he made sure I knew how to do that, and a bit more, he really loved working on cars."

I felt a bit nostalgic as I spoke of him when it dawned on me that I shouldn't say anymore. If he was by chance looking for me then I could give myself away by speaking of my family, family he would more than likely know about considering my family's position.

"It's just up here, watch your step, it's a bit slippery out here."

He yelled to speak above the loud sound of the rain hitting his umbrella as I walked just behind him trying to keep the rain from hitting my eyes. It wasn't raining as hard but the drops were so big when they hit you it was as if you were getting splashed in the river.
