After organizing all the files, Soo Min and Hyun Woo immediately went through them to thoroughly learn about the "Cherry Blossom Reaper" case. It all started at the beginning of the year, in January, about five months ago, since it was May now.

The first victim was Lee Eun Jung, a 21 year old model from an agency run by a man named Seo In Sung. The next day after her disappearance, Eun Jung was found in the same place where she was kidnapped, with a slit throat. Next to her was a small bouquet made of artificial cherry blossoms, all petals sprinkled with the girl's blood. The marks on her wrists and ankles indicated that she had been strapped to something before death. The time of death was defined as five minutes before midnight of the previous day, i.e. exactly 5 hours after she has been kidnapped. Then it seems that Lee Eun Jung was transported to the place from which she disappeared, along with the bouquet. There were no witnesses, and CCTV in this place was located in a way that it only registered the side of the car, so the license plates were not visible, and it was a car into which the victim was pulled. The next day, the same car arrived in the same place, and a hooded man in a black mask and latex gloves put her body on the ground first, then a bouquet. The man moved as if he knew the exact location of the cameras, so that his image could not be read much except that he was tall and rather slim, and his silhouette confirmed the gender more or less.

Another one that disappeared was Kim Min Hee, a beginner model from the same agency as Lee Eun Jung. She was 19 years old and one day the girl did not appear at her first session she dreamed of so much. The next day, a bouquet of artificial cherry flowers was found in the park near her home. Tests has confirmed that it was the girl's blood sprinkled on the petals, and recordings from nearby CCTV showed the same hooded man, again in a black mask and latex gloves, that puts something on the face of Min Hee, probably a handkerchief soaked in fluid that was supposed to put her to sleep, and then that she is pulled in a direction where monitoring no longer reached. The next day's recording only showed a hooded man laying a bouquet on the bench next to which he caught Min Hee a day before, but no more details could be drawn from this picture. Unlike her older friend, Min Hee's body was not found.

Joon Hwa Young, 18 year old, also an beginner model and Min Hee's friend, disappeared two weeks later. Then the scenario repeated itself - in the place of disappearance the next day appeared a bouquet sprinkled with blood of Hwa Young. CCTV footage showed more or less a similar scene to that of Min Hee, only in a different place. However, this did not change the fact that cameras in that place again did not show the entire area exactly, allowing the offender to disappear with the victim outside the frame. Hwa Young's body was also not found.

At this point, the police decided to keep an eye on the other models from this agency, so that if any disappears again, they immediately check the recordings from the cameras and the next day the police will appear at the kidnapping site to be able to capture the perpetrator, when he will be leaving his gruesome bouquet. Unfortunately, it turned out that none of the models were chosen by the "Reaper" and the plan didn't work.

This time a victim was Choi Seo Yoon, 23 years old daughter of a lawyer, that disappeared when she and her friends near the evening went hiking to Bukhansan National Park. According to friends testimony, Seo Yoon, as usual, outrun the rest significantly, but when they reached the top, she wasn't there. Monitoring was not available, but one elderly man who was coming down testified that he had seen Seo Yoon come off the trail, going between the trees, deeper into the woods. And the next day, just in the middle of the forest, a bouquet sprinkled with Seo Yoon's blood was found, and her body next to it, with several stab wounds to the chest, and the similar marks on her wrists and ankles were also visible, just like in the Lee Eun Jung's case.

Next on the list was Jung Hee Young, 22 years old daughter of the owners of Gangnam's popular cafe. She had a cottage on the outskirts of Seoul where monitoring was not installed at all, because this place was inhabited by only few people. One day, parents simply visited the daughter and found her dead, the cause was an asphyxiation, but this time with no marks on wrists and ankles. And beside her, on the bed, was a bouquet of artificial cherry blossoms, sprinkled with her blood. No signs of burglary were found in the house, which meant Hee Young had to let the killer into the house, probably knowing him. But this fact did not make anything easier, because this girl, helping her parents in the cafe, knew many people, had a lot of friends and acquaintances. Parents also mentioned that she was a nice for everyone, sociable person and had no enemies, which is why her murder was so incomprehensible to them.

The last disappearance attributed to "Cherry Blossom Reaper" was the one of two girls, talent agency trainees, since two bouquets sprinkled with their blood appeared on the road leading to their dorm. The girls were 16 years old Shim Eun A and 17 years old Kim Hae Ran. The kidnapping of both girls again took place in a place where CCTV cameras barely reached. From the distance, it was only visible that a car stopped around the corner of one of the buildings, which again resulted in the non-visibility of license plates, and the hooded figure approached the girls that were returning to the dorm. First, Eun A becomes intoxicated by putting on her face a handkerchief, probably soaked in some liquid, and then dragged to the car, in the meantime Hae Ran escapes behind the building, disappearing from view. However, the figure follows her in pursuit and soon brings back, carrying her in his hands, clearly unconscious, and puts in the car. Then the vehicle drives away, but backing up behind the building instead of driving forward. Again, as if that someone knew that if he drove forward, his car would be too visible.

In general, none of the girls had any specific enemies who could be considered suspects, especially not among men. Each of them had similar features - they were beautiful and young. Each of the girls whose bodies were found died between 10 p.m. and 12 a.m. Although the cause of death was different, two of the three killed girls had visible marks on the wrists and ankles, indicating that they were probably strapped, perhaps to something like a hospital bed. However, no fingerprints or traces of foreign DNA were found on any of the bodies. Personal belongings of each of the victims that they had at the time of the abduction, such as handbags, documents or telephones, also belonging to those who still had the status of missing, were always found a few days later near the garbage dumps, of course in places where monitoring did not reach.

At first, when models from one agency disappeared, suspicion fell on the owner, 40 years old Seo In Sung. Mainly because this man was generally considered a weirdo and huge admirer of beauty, in addition the perfectionist to the exaggeration. There were also rumors that he had abused models if they had done something wrong. However, this could not be proved, besides the models who fell victim to the "Cherry Blossom Reaper" belonged rather to his favorites and he very much regretted their loss. Although he was similar in height and figure to a hooded man, and also liked to buy artificial flowers, he even had a cherry blossom bouquet in his house, but after searching his property no car was found which was even slightly similar to the one on the CCTV recordings, also none of the missing women or their bodies were found. And when the "Reaper" switched from the models to others, the case got complicated again.

Searching for a car without a visible brand or number plates was like looking for a needle in a haystack. Customers of flower shops who recently bought artificial cherry blossoms has been checked, but this search did not bring anything important to the case.

Now the latest victim was Choi Ye Eun. She disappeared on Sunday, on a road leading from a private property where a charity event was taking place. The next day, which was yesterday, her mother reported the daughter missing, and a few hours later a cherry blossom bouquet sprinkled with her blood was found. And this morning, Ye Eun's purse along with her phone, wallet and documents was found by a security guard working during night on the car junkyard, as he finished the shift and was about to go home. Of course, the phone went straight to Cyber Security Division, Digital Forensic Section, where it was supposed to be checked for Ye Eun's telephone contacts and messages. Results could be expected the next day because phone records were to be checked immediately and added to the files too, in particular to trace and check numbers that may not have been saved in the contacts or could even be protected and displayed as a 'private number'.

- Who is the "Cherry Blossom Reaper"?- Soo Min asked herself, putting down the newest folder with files about Choi Ye Eun. She glanced at the watch on her phone. It was almost 10 p.m. and the room was completely empty. She and Hyun Woo were the only ones sitting at their desks, and the darkness of the night was clearly visible through the window, slightly lit by the moon.

- Hm?- Hyun Woo pulled away from reading, hearing her words.- Going through these files, it's really hard to point anyone as the perpetrator.- he continued, sighing heavily.- Do you think we can solve this case?- asked Hyun Woo, looking at her.

- I do not know. But we have to, we can't let this person continue to roam the streets freely, abducting and killing young girls.- Soo Min replied.- Besides, only three were found dead. The rest can still be alive. Just because the bouquets were sprinkled with their blood doesn't mean he killed them. At least I want to believe it.- she added and her voice trembled slightly.

Hyun Woo looked at his partner for a while. He saw something in her eyes that made him sure that Soo Min was not as mean as she tried to be. Hyun Woo also noticed how the other detectives were treating her, especially Min Joo Chan. He didn't understand it, Soo Min was really good at what she was doing. They should praise her, not harass like this. Hyun Woo decided that he would try to stop this practice somehow, because he did not like it at all. When Hyun Woo was working in Gwangju, at his station rules were clear that upon no one should be looked down on because of the gender.

- I think that if we join forces seriously, we can finally find out who the "Cherry Blossom Reaper" is. After all, two geniuses can't fail, can they?- he said with amusement to loosen the atmosphere a little and cheer her up a bit.

- I hope, genius, that you'll be ready tomorrow morning to go out.- Soo Min answered a bit coldly, but she could not completely hide the smile which appeared on her face.

- Where are we going?- Hyun Woo asked, still cheerful, as if completely ignoring her cold tone.

- We will review the CCTV footage from the place where the bouquet sprinkled with Choi Ye Eun's blood was found and visit the area looking for witnesses, in particular the house where this charity event took place. We will also have to interview the guests of this party.- replied Soo Min.- We have a long day ahead of us, so we better go now.- she got up from the desk, hiding the last folders with files in the cabinet, and later locked the door with a key.

- Well, you're right.- Hyun Woo agreed, and they both left the room, turning off the light and closing the door.

Soo Min got into a car and drove to her apartment, and Hyun Woo went by bus to the place in which he rented the room after arriving in Seoul.

The next morning, as it was decided earlier, Soo Min and Hyun Woo went out into the city. First they checked the CCTV footage from the area where the bouquet sprinkled with Choi Ye Eun's blood was left.Recording from the early morning of a day the bouquet was found showed a very similar view as previous recordings, on other girls cases - a fairly tall slim man in a gray hoodie, in latex gloves and a black mask on his face. Neatly stretched hood and mask made it impossible to see even a piece of his face, and the slightly stretched hoodie material also masked most of the details of his silhouette. It was hard to tell, but it seemed he wore the same sneakers as before, which, however, were barely visible under the material of dark denim trousers, which had clearly too long legs. As before, the figure avoided soft ground, walking only on the asphalt part of the road, clearly not wanting to leave footprints. In general, it moved so that even for a moment from under the hood did no

They entered a corridor at the end of which was a door with the inscription 'Cyber Security Division'. Soo Min put her ID card on the reader located on the nearby wall and pulled the handle, opening the door. Hyun Woo came in with her, closing the door behind him. Several people in the main office said hello to Soo Min, and she replied, Hyun Woo bowed every now and again, seeing curious looks on himself. The first thing he quickly noticed was that definitely more women worked here. Soo Min finally stopped at the next door

After eating, Soo Min and Hyun Woo got into the car and, having a guest list on hand, visited them one by one, asking questions about Choi Ye Eun. Unfortunately, only few people had direct contact with her at this event, and no one noticed her disappearance, except perhaps the bodyguard who was supposed to watch her. Many repeated that they should talk to Ye Eun's fiance, since he was with her most of the time. In any case, talking to the guests of the event did not bring much to the case and Soo Min felt that they were wasting time. The organizer of the charity party had a guest list that was checked both on entering and leaving. And the only person who didn't leave the party through the front door, with others, was Choi Ye Eun. So it was doubtful that any of the guests had something to do with her disappearance, or could be a witness. Ye Eun managed to walk away from the mansion a good few kilometres before getting into the mysterious car and disappearing. The security guard

The next morning, very early, Soo Min and Hyun Woo went to the residence of the Choi family, the family home of Choi Ye Eun, for the appointed visit.- From the information we gathered, there should be 3 people. Choi Young Sik, 60 years old, the head of the family and CEO of the fashion house. Next one is his wife, Lee Eun Hee, called by everyone Madam Lee, 47 years old. She used to be a very famous fashion designer, but now she practically gave up the spot to the Choi family's only son.- Hyun Woo read the information when Soo Min was driving.- And if we're talking about a son... His name is Choi Hyun Sik but for job uses name Hyun Choi, he is 27 years old. A very talented artist and the obvious successor of both father and mother. His designs are now the face of the Choi family's fashion house brand.- he added.- I hope we will find out something important this time. We miss some point of attachment in this case.- Soo Min replied, turning from the main street into a small

Soo Min was not very surprised by the passing views, she was in similar residences while solving her previous cases. However, Hyun Woo was clearly surprised by the splendor. In Gwangju he did not have the opportunity to visit such places, so he absorbed these views as long as he could. He only escaped from a light trance when Soo Min nudged him lightly on the shoulder with her elbow. At that time, they found themselves in the living room, where on the equally elegant sofa sat a couple dressed in clothes adequately to the luxury surrounding them. It was obvious that Madam Lee, Choi Ye Eun's mother, was tall even though she was sitting. Her figure was thin, skin was pale and kind of dry, she had black eyes and long black hair, but their dark blue shade indicated that they were clearly dyed. Madam Lee had very little wrinkles for her age, but it was certainly due to cosmetics and rejuvenating treatments. Her small movements were full of grace and she was dressed as befits a fashion des

    - Okay, now we'll get to you, Madam Lee.- Soo Min said, looking at the woman.- But before that I would like to ask where is your son? We also need to ask him some questions.- she added.- Ah, it just came to my mind that Hyun Sik went to Gwangju days ago... My son has his summer house there, where he can peacefully make his creations.- said Madam Lee, slightly embarrassed that she had forgotten such an important detail.- It's okay.- Hyun Woo said suddenly.- It's Gwangju city in Gyeonggi Province?- he asked, and when Madam Lee nodded affirmatively, continued.- We will go to Gwangju later and talk to him there.- he assured, smiling slightly. One could see that after leaving of Mr. Choi, Hyun Woo regained some good humor.- Exactly.- Soo Min confirmed, glancing at her partner, then focused on the woman.- Your name is Lee Eun Hee, right? Mr. Choi's wife and a fashion designer. And you're a mother of Choi Ye Eun, on Monday you reported her missing at our station.- she ask

Before visiting Choi Ye Eun's older brother in Gwangju, Soo Min and Hyun Woo stopped on the way at the office of Jang Chang Woo, lawyer of CEO Choi and at the same time the father of Ye Eun's fiance. After they showed their badges and said why they came, the lawyer's office receptionist - a pretty, tall, slim girl with deep black eyes and long dark brown hair tied in a high bun, dressed in an elegant dark-blue suit with a skirt long a little bit above the knee - asked them to sit on a small sofa in the waiting room, while she called the lawyer Jang.Soo Min observing this girl came to a somewhat gruesome conclusion - Ji Won, because that was the name on the plaque attached to her clothes, would be the perfect material for the next victim of the "Cherry Blossom Reaper". By the type of beauty and age, as she certainly wasn't more than 25 years old, this girl fit the profile of previous victims very well. And certainly this receptionist was not the only girl to suit the preference

And in fact it wasn't even five minutes when the door opened and a tall young man walked through them, well-built but definitely less muscular than his father. He had quite luxuriant black hair, but perfectly arranged with a hair gel. His eyes had the unique dark blue color that he inherited from his mother, Kim Yoo Na, born in a rich medical family, was a pediatric oncologist and unfortunately, got cancer herself shortly after her son's birth and died after 5 years of fighting with the disease, being only 32 years old. Chang Ho's face was a real mix of father and mother features, which made him look quite exotic for a Korean. He was wearing a gray suit, a white shirt without a tie and same black leather shoes as his father. Jang Chang Ho was undoubtedly handsome, although it was obvious that he used to party quite hard, which unfortunately left a mark on him in the form of a very emaciated face and strongly visible shadows under the eyes. Also because of that, even tough he was onl

On that day, exactly one month after they took up the "Cherry Blossom Reaper" case, Soo Min and Hyun Woo were just coming out of court after the final trial. Lee Joo Young was found guilty of course, but not entirely aware of his actions. Unfortunately, the final opinion of the forensic doctors clearly indicated his at least partial insanity, so instead of prison, he was locked up in a psychiatric hospital, but in a closed ward, and under the clear custody of the police. The court gave doctors a chance to undergo treatment, at the end of which Lee Joo Young will be examined again to see if the treatment will have any effect on him. If not, and Lee Joo Young continues to unrepent, he will be imprisoned with a life sentence.- A little bittersweet sentence, isn't it?- Hyun Woo asked as they descended the stairs and headed towards the parking lot.- Yes, very much.- Soo Min admitted, sighing heavily.- But that was the opinion of doctors. I don't really believe in Lee Joo Youn

At the beginning of the next week, a lot happened. Firstly, the court hearings of "Cherry Blossom Reaper" began, and with them a huge stir among the public. Although CEO Choi seemed to be completely cut off from his recent son and heir, the attorney firm representing the fashion house and the Choi family decided to represent Joo Young in court, specifically Jang Chang Woo himself as his lawyer. However, he did not try to prove his client's innocence, but to alleviate the punishment as much as possible, based on the preliminary opinion of the forensic psychologist that Lee Joo Young was not completely aware of what he was doing. At the same time, Kim Dong Min, the same one who stayed with Lee Joo Young in a foster family after the Gwangju orphanage burned down, came to the Seoul police station and turned himself in. He confessed of being guilty of helping the "Cherry Blossom Reaper", because Dong Min was a hacker with the nickname 'Void' and all the technical stuff - getting pla

Joo Young hated that thought, therefore, he did not want to see absolutely anyone. But that changed when Joo Young heard that Kim Dong Min wanted to visit him. He even asked for this himself so this man could be let in. His little Dong Min, whom he always wanted to protect from all evil. He knew seeing him would definitely make it all more bearable, however, he was afraid that this visit would make someone suspect that Dong Min had something to do with Joo Young's 'mission', so he had to ensure today that it was Dong Min's first and last visit. No matter how badly he wanted to see him again... Joo Young had to protect Dong Min, he was his hyung after all. Joo Young had decided so from day one, when he had defended his dongsaeng from one of those obnoxious guardians in that damn orphanage, and for that had been given a hard spanking himself in his place. Now it should end exactly the same way - Joo Young had to take the punishment for the two of them.- Dong Min-ah... - he spoke

While being in pre-trial detention, Joo Young had no desire to see anyone, especially Choi Young Sik and his wife, Madam Lee. So he was glad when they stopped trying to get a permission to visit him. He hated these people even though they made his life so good, or at least that's what all the people around him told him. While playing the role of Choi Hyun Sik, Joo Young had heard that he was extremely lucky to be born into such a family. But what these people did not know was that Joo Young was not born into this family at all. The burden of the secret that Choi Young Sik and his wife had thrown on him was a bit unbearable at times. The only thing Joo Young was really grateful for was that he met Ye Eun after entering this family's house. Normally, as an ordinary child, he would never had a chance to meet her. However, it was a bittersweet feeling as he was supposed to be Ye Eun's older brother, so could never show her his true feelings, which probably started to sprout slowly in hi

    - Joo Young calmed down, but Ye Eun began to have nightmares and was afraid to approach her brother. She wanted to tell father about it.- Madam Lee replied after taking another sip of coffee.- I told her that she can't tell anyone about it, because it's just such a disease and her brother has already recovered from it. Ye Eun was such an innocent and extremely naive child, believed in everything I told her, so she believed in this too. Ye Eun stayed away from her brother for a while, but after a year she seemed to have completely forgotten about it and normally accosted him, encouraging to play with other children. As they both grew up, she even caught a great contact with him, he spoke to her more willingly than to anyone else. I was very happy about it and I forgot what Joo Young used to do. I was so proud of him, of his academic performance, and then the results of his work. He made such wonderful creations that I was very happy to give him the place of main designer in our fashi

When CEO Choi found out that his son had confessed to everything, he seemed completely devastated. It was evident that he truly believed in his innocence to the end. Madam Lee, on the other hand, seemed much less shocked and Soo Min did not understand it at first, because she thought this woman was the one who would be more devastated by the news.Soo Min went to their house on her own, without the Chief Kim's knowledge, to just tell them about their son, that a court hearing was about to take place and to find out if they would want to attend, because however little they knew about what Hyun Sik was doing, their testimony might help a bit. Besides, Soo Min also felt that although he was not their real son, they had raised him over the years and treated as their own child. No matter what their reasons were at the beginning, they surely loved him at least a little. The more she wanted to tell them what was happening with Hyun Sik, or rather Joo Young, because he himself did not

I think someone helped you, at least with some of these things.- added Soo Min, looking at him closely.- Apparently I'm not just a genius at fashion design.- Joo Young replied, his face turning serious.- You think I couldn't do it all? Why? Do you doubt my intelligence?- he asked kind of reproachfully.- I'm saying I did everything myself. I know it may be hard to believe, but I learn really fast, much faster than others. If you ask at the schools I attended, they will confirm my words. I have always had the best academic record and heard many times people calling me a genius. But to me it was natural and I never understood what all these delights were for.- he explained.- Well, if you say so, I will not pursue this topic anymore.- Soo Min surrendered, seeing that even if her suspicions were right, and he was lying, she would not be able to get any information about a possible helper out of him.- We alrea

    - What about the KIA car that belonged to your father? How did you get it?- Soo Min asked, curious about this part of the story.- As for this car, when I took it from the junkyard, I didn't necessarily think about the plan.- Joo Young confessed.- I just liked this car and I didn't want it to be destroyed. When I was a child, I asked if my father would give me this car when I get older, but he said no, he would like to buy me a car more worthy of an heir to a huge fortune. Then CEO Choi added that I should not think about such old junk.- and as he said it, one could see the disappointment on his face.- It seems funny now, but as a child, I felt very hurt. So later, when I found out that my father had instructed Secretary Lee to take the car to the junkyard and see it destroyed, I had to do something. Since I knew how much Secretary Lee wanted to be friends with me, I called him and asked to run an errand that I was supposed to handle myself. Later I called the junkyard and aske
