Chapter 17

Davian and Theo finally arrived at Aleta's old house. There was no sign of life in front of the girl's house. Dave had hoped he would find Aleta there.

The girl's cell phone is unreachable, as are the two bodyguards guarding her. Davian had a bad feeling! Especially when the man walked into his house.

"Are you sure Aleta came here?" Theo asked curiously.

"Felix said so," Dave replied. He closed his eyes and smelled the scent of Aleta's body lingering in the house.

"And, there's the scent of Aleta's new body here," Dave added.

"You have a very keen sense of smell," Theo said.

Of course, wolves of noble descent had special abilities. After all, the scent of Aleta's body was different from that of an average human.

"But there's a trace of wolf blood here," Dave muttered.

This was frustrating for Dave. After all, this meant something had happened.

Dave followed the scent of Aleta's body and entered her room and looked out the window.

"It looks like something scared Aleta so much that she ran away and jumped through this window," Dave said later.

Theo frowned in surprise at Davian's conjecture.

"Why do you think that?" asked Theo.

"Because the scent is getting stronger here and it's heading that way," Davian said.

Davian let out a long sigh, this is so bad! what happened to Aleta.

"I've put that girl in danger," Dave said in a tone of voice that sounded a little desperate.

Theo patted Davian's shoulder and rubbed it slightly.

"It's no time to complain, now we have to find Aleta. She'll be fine. Their goal is not to catch Aleta. They just want to lure you," Theo explained.

What Theo said was true. It's not about Aleta, it's about Davian. The main purpose of the arrest was still Davian.

"Alright, let's go!" said Davian to Theo, following the scent of Aleta's fragrant body, leading to the forest behind the house.

Theo followed Davian's footsteps in confusion. He wondered to himself, what happened to Aleta that she had to run into this dark forest.

Davian continued to walk sniffing around Aleta's body scent, going deeper and deeper into the forest. Until finally he stopped right in front of a large shady fir tree.

Davian let out a rough sigh after he glanced around.

"Why are we stopping here?" Theo asked later.

"The scent disappeared here. That means Aleta didn't manage to escape. Damn it, I don't know where they took her. This must be Gordon's doing!" said Davian later with annoyance. He banged on the tree trunk in front of him until it left a mark.

"Calm down, don't be rash. I'm sure we'll figure it out," Theo said trying to calm Davian down.

"Calm down? That girl is in danger because of me. It's my fault, I should have always had Aleta by my side, to keep her safe. But instead I left her," Davian started blaming himself.

"Don't worry, I'm sure Aleta is fine. Both Gordon and the others must know that Aleta is something useful. They won't let Aleta get hurt, at least until they use her," Theo explained.

But what Theo said was also true. An enemy will definitely make the most of an opponent's weakness. At least for the next little while, Aleta would be fine.

"Now all you have to think about is how to find Aleta," Theo added.

"The only person who knows where Gordon lives is Felix. I was once locked up in one of Gordon's prisons, but... I think it was a different place," Dave said.

"Ahhh, I can't believe I have to go to my enemy's residence!" he added in frustration.

Theo squinted, looking at his frustrated friend. An unusual relationship for Dave. It seemed like Theo had never seen Davian like this. Even though Theo knew that Davian had not known Aleta for long. This was not just a reciprocal relationship between Davian and Aleta as Dave had explained.

"Perhaps, Dave has found his partner without realizing it," Theo thought.

Davian and Theo return home and go straight to Felix. He had told them the chronology of Aleta's disappearance today. Davian certainly hoped that Felix would tell him where Gordon lived. But unfortunately Felix's answer was...

"I can't!" Felix said flatly. Yes... Felix Memnag almost never showed any emotion. And this of course annoyed Davian.

Davian pulled Felix's shirt collar roughly and gave him a sharp look.

"What did you say, Felix! You disobeyed my orders!" Davian said with emotion.

Theo hurriedly grabbed Davian's hand from Felix's shirt collar.

"Hey hey hey, relax first. Davian, let Felix go. We have to talk nicely," Theo said trying to calm Davian's emotions.

Davian took a deep breath and tried to suppress his emotions. He released his hand from Felix's collar.

"Tell me why you won't tell me where Gordon lives!" Davian said, trying hard not to show his emotions.

Davian knew that Felix had been Gordon's servant before he became the Ricardo family's loyal servant. Therefore Felix must know where Gordon was.

"I don't want to take any chances. Your safety is at stake here," Felix replied.

"My life is not more important than Aleta's. If it wasn't for Aleta's help that night, you think I'd be here right now huh!" snapped Davian.

"Please understand, this is for your own good. You managed to get free from that man's grip. So you must not be rash. I know very well what kind of person Mr. Gordon is. He won't hurt Miss Aleta because his goal is you," Felix explained.

"You want me to stand by while Aleta is with the most dangerous man in our lives?" said Davian.

"I'm sure sooner or later Mr. Gordon will return Miss Aleta as long as you pretend not to care. The only thing that makes Mr. Gordon interested in Aleta is that you are so protective of her," Felix said.

Davian still doesn't accept Felix's explanation. But Theo felt that Felix had a point.

"Let Mr. Gordon think that Miss Aleta is not something valuable to you," Felix added.

Although Felix had a point, the man also had his own plans. Felix didn't really care about Aleta. All he cared about was the safety of the Ricardo family's successor, Davian. Actually, he just didn't want Davian to risk his life again just to save the girl. But... it seemed that this rottenness had not been smelled by anyone yet.

"Felix is right, Dave. It's better not to be too rash," Theo said in Felix's defense.

Davian didn't answer and just sighed. He thought hard about how to solve this problem.
