The moon hung low in the night sky, casting a glow over the dense forest that was filled with leaves. Shadows danced among the trees, and the air was thick. Noises could be heard, the smell of furs also lingered in the air.

Freya stood at the edge of the clearing, her amber eyes scanning the gathering wolves. She was no ordinary wolf. Her fur was a mix of gold and black, a testament to her dual heritage. Half werewolf, half witch, she straddled two worlds, yet belonged to neither. As most of her werewolf companions saw her as.

"Shadow hunters!" She began.

She was speaking to the werewolves she had trained whose jobs were to track down the enemies.

"We all witnessed what happened with the moon today. We all saw that the full moon did not stand even though it was meant to. We all heard the Oracle say that it would rise in a few days to come"

" But hunters, we heard too how the guardian of the pack had said he saw Vampires in the forest"

" Why would the vampires leave their Gothic Castles and come deep into the forest where we werewolves have our lairs? Does that not tell you that they are planning a war against us? Are we not sitting back while they are busy strategizing how to access our weaknesses? Who knows if they have a spy amongst us too?!!"

Her last lines struck echoes among the werewolves gathered in front of her.

It stirred a mixture of concern and unease as the werewolves murmured if truly there was a spy. They exchanged glances amongst each other too hoping to see, with their heightened vision under the dark, whether there would be a member trembling out of fear of being caught.

"I speak the truth! Now is not a moment to distrust ourselves but the time to unite against our adversaries that might come knocking! We cannot ignore the signs when they right in front of us. We cannot ignore the signs of potential threats lurking in the shadows!"

" Vampires are cunning adversaries! Their motives are always veiled in secrecies! They always strategize when their enemies defences are down, that was why they were able to expel our ancestors from our land, our land which now serves as theirs, our land which now serves as the soil they built their Gothic Castles!"

" We have lost a lot of comrades. We lost alot of our ancestors in the past. Most of us had mates that we watched their blood get sucked in front of us! Right till they turned stone! The vampires did not consider us! The vampires did not consider that we had given them our land for peace! They still wanted more and more !!! Will we keep on giving them our lands whenever they come knocking at our doors for war? Should we keep on getting separated from our packs because we are running for our lives?!!!"

The air grew heavy with grief and anger as Freya's words down the memory lane resonated among the gathered werewolves.

A werewolf moved to hold her father as he was about to break down in tears.

He was a seasoned warrior, and his fur streaked with covers of battle scars.

The memories of his fallen and lost comrades, and the brutality of vampire attacks he had witnessed in the past hung over him.

Noticing that her words were having the desired effects, Freya continued.

" We must stay vigilant! We must be prepared!!" Her gaze hardened.

" We must strengthen our forces!! We cannot afford complacency! We must gather intelligence, and stay alert and ready for whatever our enemies are planning! If there is a spy amongst us, then we must uproot them out swiftly. If it is a fellow werewolf selling us out to the enemies forces, then we must have them punished! We cannot afford to keep on hiding! For how much longer are we going to keep on hiding?!" She asked rhetorically.

A younger wolf, his fur mixed with gray and black spoke up.

"But how do we know their intentions? What if the Vampires seek peace or an alliance with us?"

" We cannot afford to trust blindly! Freya shot.

"Vampires cannot be trusted! Our ancestors trusted them and that is why most of them are not here with us any longer! My father was amongst those who fell!"

" A Vampire is not worthy of becoming an ally of us! We have endured countless losses at their hands. It is not just about me or my father, everyone here can attest how they lost their mates or partner at the brutality of the vampires! Our sacrifices for peace in the past had been met with betrayals and bloodshed! Now, we cannot afford to appease them at the expense of our own survival!!"

Murmurs of agreement rippled through the pack, their eyes blazing with sorrow and fury. This gave Freya the morale to continue, especially with the howl's and talks that filled the air.

"Our ancestors fought to secure this land! To ensure our freedom and our safety! We will honor their legacy by standing tall! United and refusing to cower in fear! We will not yield to them anymore nor run away cowardly! We will not yield anymore of our lands to their greed! We will defend what is ours, strike back when needed. We will show them that we are not to be underestimated! Two moons do not live under the same moon! We do not need their alliance, we must expulse them for what they did to our ancestors!"

" Prepare the patrols everyone! Sharpen your claws! Practice your speed and agility! Practice your powers! Strengthen the wards!. We must stand together as one one pack, ready to defend their territory! Let we make it known to the Vampires that the forest is not theirs to claim anymore without a fight!"

A chorus of fierce howls echoed through the night. Her spirit felt uplifted. Her fighting instincts were kicking in.

She watched them as they dispersed after hearing what she had to say.

They were angered, the very emotion she had wanted to illicit in them.

The anger to burn down enemies instead of running away in fear and giving up their lands.

Unbeknownst to her, the Alpha of the pack and his heir watched her from a distance.

Even though the Alpha appreciated her actions in boosting the morale of his pack, he was skeptical on what she might become later in future.

She was fierce, she was a warrior. She had rigorously trained under hard conditions to be super strong, perfecting all her powers to their various uses. Sometimes he feared her. What if she found out the truth about what happened years ago to her mother and came after him for vengeance. She may either become an ally or a formidable enemy. Would he be able to stop her if that time came? Would his weakening powers be able to compete with hers.

The Alpha heir stared at her too, but with a unique keenness.

He admired her. His gaze lingered towards her, his admiration growing with each passing moment. There was something unique about her and her strength he thought. Something that stirred a sense of fascination and respect within him for her.

Her physical strength, her prowess as a warrior, her fierce loyalty to the pack and of course her ability to command the attention of the pack.

As he continued to watch Freya, a deeper sentiment began to stir within him. He liked her. He harboured feelings for her even though she was older than him and his teacher. He couldn't deny it within him.

Freya's eyes caught his gaze and she smiled at him.

He did not know what to do at the instant,so instead he continued watching, concealing his desires for her deep within him.

She was an omega, no matter what fighting prowess she attained, she would always fall back because of her omega blood. Falling inlove with her would do no good to his ambitions. He thought within him.

Kate looked at the clock that was in the living room, something was definitely wrong with Nova. This was the first time she was waking up late for her lessons, the first time she had missed a lesson too considering how she returned late the other night and how she went to sleep immediately. She also reeked of a foreign cologne that wasn't hers neither was it used by her.She had noticed how she went to her room without even checking to see if her grandmother was still up to explain why she returned late not why she missed her demon training.Perhaps she was rebelling. Or was the wolfsbane she had been giving not enough to expell her wolfy features? Was she going to wolf out on her Eighteenth birthday which was a few days coming. Was he going to try finding her roots, forgetting the task which she had been training her.Questions and more swam through out Kate's mind as she wondered what could be wrong with her adolescent granddaughter. Her attention got shifted by Nova's cellphone tha

No one would dare. She thought. Everyone revered her because she beared the Oracle's words to them. Kate stormed into their home with fury etched all over her face. Without any word, she kept on dragging Nova by her arms till they reached the dimly lit living room of their old, creaky house. Nova stumbled and fell to the floor, not shocked by her grandmother's sudden outburst, it has become a familiar scene. One that replayed too often in their strained relationship. She had witnessed it most times. This scene was always familiar to her, she had grown with it for years and had gotten used to it. Atleast the scars on most parts of her body were testaments of it. It wasn't the first time. In the past when her face etched with this kind of fury, Nova always wondered if she were truly her grandmother or if she was adopted because the punishment's she gave her then made her always want to run away from her."Why can't you ever do anything right?!!" Kate's voice was sharp, cutting through the silence like a blade. Nova remained silent, her gaze fixed on the floorboards beneath her feet.

Lucien was back at his castle. It had been a long night for him searching for the blood he had heard it's scent to no avail. He was frustrated and annoyed and laid on his bed writhing as he was loosing his strength. The head Sentinel Darian Stormrider, watched him from the window of his room. He had immediately understood what was happening to him and had instructed another sentinel to deliver to the others and bring one of their female breeders for him. When they had brought her, he had pushed her into the room and locked it from the outside, he and the other sentinels had left. The girl had cried her hearts out before she entered the Royal Chamber room, only keeping quiet as she was pushed in, knowing that any noise coming from her would make her have a death more painful than the one her fellow late breeders had encountered in the past. She was just the daughter of one of the breeders, she had been born in the Vampires realm. Her human mother had been brought in when the agreement

Night had fallen when the maids of the Gothic palace had the body of the breeder that had her blood consumed thoroughly cleaned and placed in a sack awaiting Darian Stormrider's orders. As per the norm, he would journey out at night and go meet his spies from the Werewolf realm and give them the body.Even though they were humans too, that didn't bother them anymore as they were not in the same rank as the breeders. They preyed on it. Vampires consumed blood while the werewolves fed on the body, and as a fee for them helping him out as his spies and take tellers from the adversaries kingdom, he always brought the dead body of whatever breeder that had their blood consumed to them.Werewolves had stopped hunting for their human preys ever since the Demon hunters killed one of their own that hunted a human once and wanted to prey on her body.Since then, they had sticked to hunting wild animals of the forest and bushes for consumption.Feeding on the body of a human was a luxury that ex

Nova watched as the soldiers came to the cell to drag her out.Of course she knew why. The little devil of the Alpha's daughter, Skyla might have accused her of another crime. A crime she didn't commit obviously. A crime she would want to commit but couldn't because she had been locked up in the cell since the morning of the night she had been found and brought back to the pack by her sister. She was only let out whenever the pack had an occasion. That was when she was needed to join the bartenders in serving drinks and wine to the werewolves that had beta blood and a few chosen Omega's ranked high in martial arts or fighting. She had long learnt about the hierarchy system of the pack, afterall she had stayed with the pack for three years now and counting.Excluding her permanent lair which was the cell she was always locked back in, she had grown to tell alot about their lifestyle and how they drank and made merry almost all the time for reasons worth no celebrating. The mate she had

Why did the Oracle's mouthpiece prophecy such for my mate. I can't accept an omega as my mate. What aid can she offer me in war" he continued lamenting." My Alpha, I found it strange but when I cleaned her face to apply ointments on them, I noticed that she looked way familiar. She shares an uncanny resemblance to Freya"" Freya?" He voiced." Yes she, but when I checked for familiar traits or scent, I found none. She only shares a facial resemblance to Freya but she does not have any symbols or scents that are familiar to that of Freya's" he finished.Damien stormed out of his lair and continued walking straight to the Luna's enclave, Nova had been taken to." Damien scrutinized the unconscious body that Freya dropped in the middle of the Oracle's shrine. The other werewolves had gathered, all surprised at how quickly she returned from finding the mate of the Alpha Heir.Did she perhaps know him all along, they hushed within themselves."Why does she have bruises all over her body?" He inquired." It appeared that she had been in an altercation with someone before she wolfed out,...... my alpha" she added,, sensing the eyes she was cast by the others who felt her short response insulting to the heir, when she was an omega." Whoever had it was meant to become the most powerful werewolf. It came by once in a thousand years, and was very very rare to find the chosen seed that had it.There it was with her sister. There was the crescent moon symbol on her shoulder. She was the chosen one, she was born under the eclipsing moon. She clenched her fists and stopped midway."Do you want to kill me still?" Her wolf form was intermittently switching places with her human self, and each time she turned into a wolf, she always felt pains and the desire to kill and prey on fresh meat. She wasn't used to it. She was used to living like a human with her grandmother, consuming beetroots, herbs and some other human food. The evening had progressed. The sky transitioned from hues of orange and pink to deeper shades of blue and purple as night descended. The world around gradually succumbed to darkness. Amidst this transition, the moon began to make its presence known. At first, a faint sliver appeared in the sky, barely visible against the darkening backdrop. As minutes passed, the moon climbed higher, its glow intensifying with each passing moment. Clouds drifted lazily across the sky, occasionally veiling the moon's radiance until it was completely out, shining bright from the sky where it was. Nova watched as it unfolded. It was the least she could do from the cage she was in under the moon. She had seen a full moon before, but something in her told her that this one was different.Drifting from her thoughts, she recalled that it was supposed to be her birthday. It was the day she would turn Eighteen.
