11. Not a Stranger

The couch was really uncomfortable. I had been tossing and turning all night, struggling to find a position that I was comfortable in. But, at some point, I just gave up and decided to sit instead. My purpose of staying back at the cabin was to watch over Valeria and Veronica after all, totally not because I wanted an excuse to be near Valeria.

All of a sudden, I heard movement behind me and I immediately whipped my head around to see who it was. I released a breath of relief when I saw that it was just Valeria scowling at me as usual.

She scoffed and walked around the couch to seat on the one seater opposite me. "All it takes to scare you is to just... exist?"

"You snuck up on me." I pursed my lips. "I did not know that you were there, anyone would freak out a little bit."

"Yeah, whatever floats your boat." She leaned into the chair and crossed her legs. "Why are you here though?"

Her tone was sharp, and I could tell that it was from a place of suspicion. She
