Ember

I got out of the bed, walked to the mini fridge in the room and took out a bottle of water, unscrewed it and took a big gulp directly from the bottle, I took a breath, and down the rest of it, screwed it back and put it on the fridge.

I stripped out of my nightwear before I entered the bathroom.

Stepping under the shower, I opened it so it would flow freely down my body, placing my elbow against the wall. I had my head bent as the water ran down my naked skin.

My nerves are starting to calm down now, as though the water Is washing all my fatigue away, and they are going down the drain. I turned off the shower and reached for the towel hanging on the rail. I wrapped it around my body, then took the second one and wrapped it around my hair to absorb the water.

Shutting the door behind me, I quickly plugged my hair dryer and blew my already towel dry hair, until all of the dampness left was gone.

I got into my nightwear and went back into bed, I was unable to fall asleep for a

Ember Flashback “Come on Derek, put more sugar.” I whined, leaning on the counter with a pout, all while sneaking unnoticed, maybe noticed but ignored glances at Derek who was whisking the flour, the baking powder and Sugar in a large bowl. The sugar wasn't enough so I persuaded him to put in more. He didn't say a word, he was ignoring me, “Not fair… okay, okay, just a pinch alright?” I groaned grabbing his arms pleadingly, he stopped whisking, “You were at the dentists just three days ago because of a cavity, now you want more sugar? I shouldn't have put any but I know you wouldn't eat it.” “Please dad,” I let go of him, clasping my hands together, purring like a drenched puppy. He grins, “Try harder, I promise it's still not going to work.” “Fine… have it your way.” “Of course I have.” He smiles, I rolled my eyes at him then grabbed the milk from the table, mixing it with the egg and melted butter, whisking them together; sulking. I heard footsteps coming

MaverickI pulled on my shirt as that evening, picking a book from the nightstand, I sat on the couch and begin to read with my legs crossed, I tried to focus, but I'd flipped book to the next page only to flip it back because I couldn't get anything in at that moment which is totally unlikely of me. Could it be the book? I returned it to the nightstand taking another volume I hadn't read before but it was the same result. Frustrated. I put it back and went out of the room, climbing down the stairs to the sitting room. The house was unusually quiet that evening. What do I mean by it was quiet? It has always been quiet because I prefer calmness and tranquility, But something feels so distant about this quietness, it's not the type of calmness I like at that moment. My eyes went to the kitchen, I walked down to the kitchen and entered, going to the fridge I saw the rest of the food in the container, still preserved, I took out a container and looked at the paper pasted on it. “Cute.

Maverick And just as she demanded I wrapped my hands around her back holding her close to my chest and she held my torso burying her face in my chest, I could hear her heartbeat, feel her shuddering breaths, her muffled sobs, and her trembling fingers that rested on my torso. What could be bothering her? I can't tell of course, which makes me hate the fact that I had locked my other part away, in the light that I can easily get into her head and see whatever had turned her to this state. We were like that for several minutes until she slowly unwrapped her hands from my torso and walked out of the bathroom, naked. “You'll find new towels in the wardrobe.” I said to her, she didn't respond—not that I expected her to anyway. I stayed under the shower for some time, giving her the space she might need to collect herself. I took off my wet shirt and trousers, threw them into the laundry, before grabbing a gray towel and wrapped it around my torso. I closed the bathroom door beh

MaverickEmber's gaze dropped to the floor, her shoulders curling inward. My eyes however remained fixed on her,The sounds humming from the TV right then was the only reminder that the world outside these walls still existed. She exhaled with her eyelids fluttering closed. But the tears managed to squeezed out of her eyes, “He was my everything, my father, my closest friend— all his life was dedicated into watching me grow, listened to my bantering and at the end offer his words of comfort— Derek's like that, yet that one time that he needs me… he was right there in his own blood, and I'm out drinking as if the world is about to come to an end because of that scumbag.” Her last sentences came out between gritted teeths. Now I has a clearer understanding of what is happening with her, taken into account that I'd have Alex investigate Rowan Gray sometime back after his fight with Ember in the hallway I couldn't help getting curious about what's it between them only to find out he was

MaverickShe met Alexandra? I thought as much because I was never convinced she just left the other day, but since she said she came back with her friend, I didn't think about the fact that she might've met Alexandra. Is Ember jealous of Alexandra? It never occurred to me that she… I could have joked with her on a normal day, but right now, I don't have the mind to tease her. “It's all a misunderstanding…” I brushed my fingers through my hair, shoving them back almost forcefully.“Don't deny it… you have a wife, don't you?” Seeing I didn't reply, She smiled and tried to stand up, “Stay, you'll fall if you stand up” I explained to her, even though I doubt she wanted any right now.“Listen Ember… it's just more complicated than you think, and yes, at some point, I'm married to her… but now it's just…” I stopped talking, finding it hard to complete the statement. Even though she was being driven by the alcohol, I can't bring myself to lie to her.“It's okay.” She smiles, “but can you

I took her left nipple this time, licked on it while I pinched on the other which caused a jolt of electricity from her.Seeing the expected reaction from her, I incessantly fondled her chest and she subconsciously pressed herself forward. Contrary to my expectations, I feel her desires and longing becoming more and more intense. As if she urgently needed to alleviate the aching of her body. However, l refused to

Maverick“What are you doing in my house?” I asked, my expression was darkening over, it was her I want to forget, to say nothing of seeing, and here she is in front of me nonchalantly peeling and eating an apple as if she was in her home.It was exactly like that realistic projection from the other day, however, today's own was different as I could hear her heartbeat which confirms she's was really here, She didn't reply immediately, instead she pouted, and bit on the apple, chewing slowly before gulping it down with her eyes closed and a sultry moan escaped her lips.“Nothing honey, I just feel I'd stop by, considering the fact it has been a long time we've seen each other and I believe it's a normal thing if I missed you.” “Look Alexandra, even with all the camouflage you'd put up, I know it's you.” No woman would show up in my home, licking apple juice with her tongue and moaning shamelessly. “You don't have any right to be here, so I want you off my home at this instant.” She

EmberI stood there, heart racing, as Astrid appeared in the doorway. The moment she saw me, her brow furrowed, a frown settling across her face. She clutched her round belly as if it could shield her from whatever she was feeling. There was a tension in the air, with a mix of worry and something else I couldn't quite decipher at that moment.Astrid’s hand paused on the door, ready to slam it shut, but I stepped in her way. Her glare could have burned a hole through me.“What are you doing here?” she shot back.“I’m not here because I want to be,” I said, keeping my voice calm. “If I’d known it was your place, I would’ve turned around. But since I’m here, I need answers. What happened four years ago?”The silence between us was heavy with unspoken words. I could see the conflict in her eyes—anger mixed with something deeper. However I wasn’t about to back down; I needed to know, I didn't came all the way here to be slammed the door upon on, all my prejudice against her was temporarily

EmberI threw two dresses into the mini box, grabbed a few necessities, and finally took my spare toothbrush, just in case. After zipping it up, I carried it out. Lyra was solemnly wiping Kai's body with a wet towel. I exhaled. I can't back away now—I have to go. I walked up to his side and crouched next to him. “Mommy, is that you?” His little fingers landed on my cheeks, and with all my strength, I pressed back my sobs, whispering in a broken voice, “Yes, baby, it's your mommy.” “Lyra said you're going to be back soon.” He took a short pause, blinking rapidly as he stared at my face before eventually asking, “Are you leaving me alone?” “No, baby, I would never do that. The thing is, Mommy has to get you chocolates, a bunch of them.” “I… don’t want chocolates. I only want Mommy.” Streaks of tears ran down my face, and this time I didn’t wipe them off. Instead, I let them flow freely. “I’m sorry, baby… Mommy is really sorry you're going through this. You know what? Mommy

EmberI kept staring at the letter with wide eyed, confused; first I had know idea how this got here, secondly how the heck did the person knew that I wants answers, answers to everything, the gut feeling is gnawing on me, yet I always finds a make believe to rid that thought, just like this letter stated that I wanted answers. But what answers would I probably want? What answers do I really seek? Why can't I say it, why don't I know it. I stared at the address which clearly reads a house in Arizona. Do I really want to do this? Honestly, I have no idea, whatever this is, whatever will come from it, but I folded it and put it back going out of the room to the yard. For some peace and quiet, maybe I could fatten my thoughts and come up with a reasonable plan on how to help my son get better. And maybe I could even go back to Arizona, in contrast to the fact that the man had come all the way from Arizona to Florida to look for me, but since I pushed him away, he definitely must've go

EmberAfter Maverick was gone, I couldn't make sense of what's going on. I washed my face in the bathroom, swinging back my hair to get off the water that drenched it, eventually grabbing a towel and wrapped it around my head like a burrito. Exhaling, I walked out of my room to check Lyra's door which was still very much locked, thus has been on lock since the moment she stormed out of my face in the sitting room.I walked into the sitting room to touch Kai's forehead, he was still burning up, but not as hot as he was when I'd come back. He wasn't supposed to get sick again since Lyra got him the herbs that had kept his condition stabilized since we came back to Florida, so I never have to bother about looking for the man, however hearing the news earlier was not only a blow to me, but it makes me even more panicked. And thankfully, having him around for a few seconds reduces the boy's temperature, however, now I can't really tell for sure because he's a little hot now doesn't mean

MaverickI had planned tonight to be very colourful and bright so Ember could enjoy it as much as she wants, after having Alex scout around for one of the biggest and beautiful beach around here I had shut down the whole place so we can have all the time— Alone, and I was glad she really came looking stunning in her dress.I had made sure to also reserve the top floor of the restaurant on the island where I hoped we'll spend the night, but she was so curious to know what I have in store, however I was determined to not share it with her.We got off the yacht and made for the building, however her phone rang, but just after the call ended she was trembling. Her face turned so pale that I had to calm her down. She wanted me to follow her, which I did without a second thought. The sound of that boy going sick affected me so much that I yelled at the sailor to get the Yacht moving again. When we got out of the car, I was really surprised to see the familiar environment we're in. Why would

Ember. I glanced back, he caught me staring at the distance and his cold hand grabbed my chin bringing my face to him. “It'll come back.” he casually replied, “Or do you want it back now? Are you feeling cold?” “I'm fine.” I answered rolling my eyes. He was now back to my side. “Okay, when it comes back, we should probably go to the next surprise.” he said, and i understand how awkward this was for him as much as it is for me. “Oh, that…” I trailed off as the heat flushed my face, remembering what we're on to a while ago before the thing about him and Alexandra, “Yeah… other surprises,” I replied non enthusiastically fisting my hair and squeezing out the water that had drenched it. “Are you sure you're not cold?” He asked again drawing closer. “Not yet.” I answered pushing back a little but I underestimated the man as he swiftly followed grabbing my waist, his palm flew to examine my forehead, “it's a good thing you're not catching a cold yet.” “I told you I'm not

EmberWe're staring at each other's faces as though we're in a competition. I thought he was going to say something but he didn't; he just kept staring.Biting my lips, “Do you have a sibling or... ?” I gulped the remaining question down my throat, considering the facts that I never saw him with anyone except Alex. “Only child.” he shrugged so casually. “Don't even ask about the parents... they're no more.”“Oh...” I muttered trailing off, suddenly feeling bad for probing at his wounds. “I shouldn't have asked.”“i said I'm ready to answer your questions didn't I? So go ahead ask any questions and I'll answer.”I searched his face for any traces of lies but found nothing so I licked my lips and asked, “The other day at the rooftop what are you trying to say about Alexandra?”He thought for a while before smacking his lips, “Are you sure you would like to hear that?” he asked again, making me want to know more about why he seemed so hesitant when he'd been the one to bait me in the fi

Ember “So… now that the yacht’s gone, what are we supposed to do?” I asked, glancing around at the wide-open water stretching as far as I could see. “Wait for it, I guess,” he replied, way too casually. “Probably just ran low on gas.” I narrowed my eyes, noting the way he smirked ever so slightly. “Is this some kind of setup? Was this your big surprise?” He chuckled, shaking his head. “Not at all. This was definitely not part of the plan. But look—it’ll come back. We just have to wait.” I shifted uneasily, trying to mask my growing anxiety with humor. “What if we end up living out some kind of real-life Jaws nightmare?” He raised an eyebrow, clearly amused. “Seriously? You’re a werewolf—you’re supposed to be the one scaring off predators.” I rolled my eyes, smirking back. “Yeah, well, if wolves can eat fish, why shouldn’t a shark be able to enjoy some wolf?” He let out a soft laugh, sweeping his dripping hair back. “You’re something else.” I swallowed, glancing back a

“Do you want to take a sit over there over a cup of wine?”“Alcoholic?” I asked the man preparing to say no, there's no way I'm drinking wine that contain alcohol, not after my experiences with alcohol. “Fruity, it's tastes like an alcohol, but it has not even 1% in it, do you want to give it a try?” “No harm in trying.” I chuckled. The Yatch had slowed down now, in the middle of the sea, “Why aren't ships or Yatch other than this one moving anyway?” I asked curiously moving to the swim platform. I was expecting to see Yatch or cruise ships moving around but none, I had noticed at the beach that there were lesser people compared to how crowded beach used to. “The whole place is ours for today, and don't tell me you're dunking your legs in the water in that?” He pointed to my dress.I stared down embarrassed to look at my flowing black gown, I laughed awkwardly, “I will be changing that.” I never thought about that sincerely.“You should, there's a lot to choose from in the first se
