52. Father and Son

Third Person's POV:

Wynter had returned from the hospital and was now back at her home—the one she had built for herself and Storm. She had left Jackson Tower without ever stepping foot inside again.

Finally easing into her routine, today was one of her rare days off. She lounged comfortably in her living room, the garden sliders open, allowing her to watch Storm, Hunter, Bella, and Elli playing outside. The cheerful laughter of the children brought a faint smile to her lips.

At first, she found herself enjoying the view, but she didn’t realize when her thoughts began to drift. Her mind wandered back to her confrontation with Shadrach, replaying his accusations. Despite her best efforts to move on, the memory still stung deeply, piercing her heart every time it surfaced.

Harris had told her that it was Shadrach who brought her to the hospital after the incident. He’d been furious, demanding to know what had happened. Though Harris hadn’t confronted Shadrach directly

    53. Dilemma Wynter's POVI was still deeply moved by the words Mama Iris had shared with me, but I wasn’t sure what was right or wrong anymore. Every time I had expectations from someone, I ended up getting hurt. I didn’t think I had the strength to handle another wave of stress."Mommy!" Storm’s voice broke through my thoughts, and I looked up to find him standing in front of me.Now it was just me and Storm in the house. Ellie was with Hunter, and Mama Iris... well, I felt alone, and it made the overthinking worse."Yes, cupcake?" I asked, lifting him into my arms.Storm had been insisting on going to Mama Iris' house, but I’d had to emotionally blackmail him into staying here."Mommy, why are you worried? Did I do something?" He asked, his big eyes full of concern."No, sweetheart, Mommy was just thinking about work. I’m not worried about anything, alright?" I lied, trying to push away the storm of emotions swirling inside."Mommy, why did you send Dad away?" Storm asked, his voic

    54. Clarity Wynter's POVI could see that Shadrach was a little taken aback by my unusually sweet demeanor, but I was simply following through with my decision to hear him out. I couldn't very well do that while he was standing there, so I motioned for him to come inside."Thanks," he nodded, stepping in and taking a seat on the sofa. He placed the toys he had brought for Storm on the side, perhaps a way of easing the tension between us.I wanted to tell him that he didn’t have to buy Storm anything, but I held my tongue. This might just be his way of showing he cared."Dad!" Storm came running toward us, his towel wrapped tightly around him."Storm, you didn’t change yet?" I quickly moved to stop him, but he was faster than me, jumping right into Shadrach’s arms."Hey, champ," Shadrach smiled, catching him effortlessly."Let him change first," I rolled my eyes, though a small smile tugged at my lips."It’s okay. He looks cute in a towel," Shadrach shrugged, planting a quick kiss on

    55. Another Chance Of RedemptionAs promised, Wynter was willing to give Shadrach a chance to redeem himself for all the wrong he had done to her. He respected her wish to keep her distance, but that didn’t stop him from visiting the park every day. He sat on the same bench where they had spent countless moments years ago, hoping with all his heart that Wynter would show up.A week passed in this quiet anticipation, but Wynter didn’t come. Though disappointment weighed heavily on him, Shadrach refused to lose hope. He had made a promise to himself: no matter how long it took—be it a year or a decade—he would wait for her every single day.Today, like every other day, Shadrach sat alone on the bench. The only difference was that, in the past, Bella had been by his side, wagging her tail and keeping him company. Now, he was completely alone. Memories of happier times filled his mind as he stared at the empty park, wishing desperately for those days to return.Lost in thought, Shadrach w

    56. Court NoticeWynter's POV As Sean had promised, a court notice arrived at my doorstep.I stared at the papers in disbelief, my hands trembling. How did he find out about Storm? The thought of losing my son sent a wave of anxiety crashing over me. Still, I steeled myself. I was confident—no matter what, I would fight with every fiber of my being to ensure Storm stayed with me.Sean had no right to interfere. He made his choice long ago when he wanted nothing to do with my pregnancy. I had informed him the moment I found out, but he had cruelly suggested termination. It was my decision to raise Storm as a single mother, and that alone would weigh heavily in my favor in court. But I couldn’t be naïve. If Sean was bold enough to take this to court, he must have something up his sleeve. My phone rang, pulling me out of my spiraling thoughts. For a moment, I froze, fearing it might be Sean. But relief flooded through me when I saw Shadrach’s name flash on the screen.“Hey,” I answered,

    57. HearingShadrach's POVToday was the day I would face the court for the verdict. I still couldn’t understand what had emboldened these people to be so confident in challenging me. The entire night, I found myself piecing together events, tracing connections back to Wynter’s trail. The good news? I’d managed to uncover a link between the two. If my theory was right, I’d be vindicated—and, dare I say it, a genius. If they thought they could claim the assets this way, they were gravely mistaken. My confidence wasn’t born of arrogance but of preparation. I had counters for nearly every argument they could muster.I was pulled out of my thoughts by the shrill ring of my phone. Expecting it to be Harry, my personal assistant, I was surprised to see my kitten calling."Hello, Griz," I greeted warmly, a smile stretching across my face."Hey, Shadrach. What are you doing? When’s the hearing?" She asked, her tone laced with concern."I’m getting ready. Harry is on his way with some document

    58. Moment Of ReliefWynter's POVIt had been longer than Shadrach promised, and I was certain the court trial had ended by now. But why wasn’t he back yet? The thought gnawed at me as I anxiously paced the patio, my gaze fixed on the gate, willing him to appear. After what felt like an eternity, a sleek black BMW screeched to a halt in front of the house. Relief washed over me as I saw Shadrach step out of the car. Without a moment’s hesitation, I ran toward him. He was still closing the car door when I threw my arms around him, taking him by surprise. It didn’t take him long to recover, though. He quickly wrapped his arms around me, pulling me closer into his warm embrace."What took you so long, Shadrach?" I asked, my voice muffled against his chest. He sighed, a weight in his voice. "I’m not sure you’re ready to hear what I have to say."I pulled back, my brow furrowed with concern. "What do you mean? Things didn’t go in your favor." I questioned, searching his eyes for answers."

"And why did you stage your own death when there was absolutely no need for it?"Shadrach exhaled deeply, setting his glass down. "I had to, Mr. King. I had a target on my head. For over two years, I was in recovery, trying to heal from everything that happened. When I returned, my priority was taking over my father’s business, which had fallen into chaos. That set off a chain of events I couldn’t ignore."He glanced around the table. "If you’ll allow me, I’d like to explain everything from the beginning. Maybe that will help you understand why I did what I did."Travis frowned but motioned for him to continue. 73. Blinded DreamsShadrach's POVIt’s been a month since all the chaos unfolded, and life has finally settled into a calm rhythm. Things feel normal again. Wynter has officially moved into my penthouse at Jackson Tower. Although I insisted that Ethan stay with us—after all, this place belongs to him as much as it does to me—he refused, saying that I was the one who had truly contributed to the growth of Jackson Enterprises, even when things were at their most vulnerable.Still, I was persistent, and he eventually agreed to move into the flat just below my penthouse. He seems satisfied with that arrangement, and I’m happy to have him close. For the first time, this penthouse feels like home. Wynter, however, insists that we also spend time at the house she bought for herself. When I suggested renting it out, she outright refused, saying it held sentimental value for her.
