She shivered. She was in extreme pain not from being stabbed but her heart was the one in the pain right now. Her heart sank hopelessly into the dark. Right there and then, her whole world collapsed in front of her.

“Aren't you too smart, sister? It was easy for you to connect the dots. That's right you've been poisoned." Sophia admitted, all smiles in mockery at Roseline.

Roseline gulped. She remembered that Sophia had brought her drink earlier to drink. She didn't think much about it and happily collected it from her sister not knowing that it was already poisoned by Sophia.

“How could you do this to me?" No, why are you both doing this to me?! Answer me, Henry and stop hiding behind Sophia like a coward!" Roseline yelled furiously at Henry. She hadn't had the chance to ask Sophia why she was also doing this to her since it was obvious that she might be jealous of her. She needed answers from Henry himself.

“What exactly do you mean by that you've been enduring me for the past ten years? We grew up together, in high school and even college. Did you forget how you kept chasing me around for a whole year before I finally agreed to be your girlfriend? And then I accepted your proposal after we did our wedding and have been married for a good fucking four years!! Did you forget all those promises you made on our wedding day?!?” She questioned him in a hoarse voice.

“Geez, calm down sister. At this rate you'd only let the poison spread quickly and the pain would be too much-"

“Shut the fuck up, Sophia!! I was talking to the bastard next to you!" Roseline yelled, cutting her off and glared dangerously at her. Sophia wouldn't lie that she didn't feel the murderous intent of the gaze.

Henry ignored her and turned Sophia’s face to him and passionately kissed her on the lips. He only let go of her when the kiss became intense. He finally turned to look at Roseline who was clutching her stomach and barely keeping her balance to stand. “How naive of you. Take a look at yourself. Despite you dressing in an expensive dress, you still can't match the beauty Sophia possesses. You're nothing compared to my Sophia. How could you be worthy of me? You're nothing but a brick wall in my house, if not because of what you possess, did you actually think I'd fake liking you in the slightest?” His eyes were filled with disdain directed at Roseline.

Roseline felt like a bucket of freezing cold water had been poured over her, when she heard his heartless words which caused a dull pain in her heart.

She couldn't believe that the man she loved so deeply was always disgusted by her and wanted to kill her! She had been so careful, but in the end, she was destroyed by that same man as well.

Sophia's lips curled up when she saw the pale expression on Roseline's face. “Does it hurt so much, sister?” She asked but her voice was filled with mockery.

A sudden fear seized her, and her instinct response was to run, run to the crowd. “Sophia, just wait until dad hears about what you both have done. He'd kill you and mom won't forgive you either for………”

Yes, she wasn't alone. She still has a father. She had always been her father's favorite of the three. She knew that he wouldn't let anyone harm her, anyone, including her younger sister. As for her mother, even though she was her stepmother, she had always treated her like her own daughter. She would always tell her everything.

She had hardly managed to take a few steps forward when she felt a sharp pain in her stomach. It dragged her back and she lost her balance again. Her dress was completely soaked with blood and she didn't need to be told that she was already losing a lot of blood.

Sophia suddenly burst into a fit of laughter hearing Roseline's declaration. “Are you trying to seek help from dad? You're indeed the most brainless stupid rich little girl I've seen in all my life! You only know how to turn to dad for help - you poor little thing. Let me tell you the truth, Dad is aware of everything. And he has also planned the whole damn thing except for the part where Henry stabbed you, but you got what you deserve. Your fancy wedding was just a mere cover up for the whole plan.” Sophia revealed.

Cover up? Roseline fiercely shook her head in denial. It can't be true, it's definitely a lie. There is no way she should believe a word Sophia was saying. ‘ No, he is my father, he wouldn't do that! How could he? Why would he?’ Roseline heard herself denying it in her head.

A resentful and jealous expression overflowed Sophia's extraordinarily beautiful face as she stared at Roseline. “You were even stupid enough to not realize the fact that my mother was only pretending, even a two year old can see that. Did you think that she loved you? It was only a trap, dear sister. Do you understand now you fucking stupid idiot?!?!” Sophia couldn't control her anger and let it all out.

Roseline blinked her eyes. How was she so blinded to the extent that she wasn't able to tell fake from real? This was obviously her fault.

The word ‘trap’ felt like she had been hit by a huge truck and a giant rock crushed on her. The words around her began to spin and she didn't need to be told the cause of it. The effect of the so-called poison was already taking effect, plus the fact that she was suffering from being stabbed and losing a lot of blood. She felt her chest tighten and instantly her legs gave out making her fall to her knees.

Despite blood slipping from the corner of her mouth, the only thought running through her head was that her father couldn't do what Sophia was saying.

No matter how busy her father was, he always made it such to celebrate her birthday with her, every year. He would always buy her gifts and presents anytime he was away on a business trip. She recalled that he always told her ‘My little Rose is the sweetest girl in the world. She is the best thing that has ever happened to him?’ Hearing all of these things usually made her feel loved.

She remembered how much effort he had put into her wedding. He was practically the one who arranged most of the things, the wedding dress, the venue, the jewelry and everything…… He promised her an unforgettable wedding and he gave it to her.

So how could her father who loved her so much do this to her.

“Awwn, where do I start from……. First of all, let me thank you wholeheartedly from the bottom of my heart, sister , for transferring all your money to me and my brother. Hahaha, it's worth tens of billions, sister.” Sophia muttered as she pulled out a few pieces of paper from her bag and held it in front of Roseline. She took a few steps forward, waving the documents proudly at her. “This is what I mean, sister. You see, this paper in my hand, is the paper you've signed to agree to transfer all of your money to us on your wedding day. You're just the most stupid person in the world. Thank you so much, my idiot sister, because you've foolishly signed the documents without taking a proper glimpse of it.” Her pale face was tainted with blood oozing out of eyes, as she took a closer look and read the content on the documents. Her heart went frozen in pain and shock, she shivered and trembled. It felt like her entire body was whipped by thorny lashes. The sudden desire and urge to kill a

“Sophia! Henry! You both are so evil and vicious, you both don't deserve to be called humans at all! Even if I die and become a ghost, I will haunt all you down.” Overwhelming hatred surged within her as she glared at the both of them with bloodshot eyes. “Hahaha, then go ahead and become a ghost. I've been waiting so long for this day to come and it's finally here, did you think that mere threat would scare me?“ Sophia's eyes were filled with a sinister desire for destruction as she moved extremely closer to Rose, she grabbed the dagger bottom and pierce it deeper into Rose's stomach. “My dear sister, you deserve to die for us to lead and live a happy life that wouldn't include you.” Sophia muttered in a gently soothing voice but there was no sort of emotion in her gentle voice at all. “Ahh!" Rose let out a gasp when the dagger pierced through her. The sky stumbled upon her, blood gushing out of her mouth and her heart burned in pain. “See you in hell, sister. I will be looking f

Rose stopped laughing when she heard the loud thud sound in the room. She moved her head down and turned to look at the direction where the sound came from.To her dismay, she saw a beautiful young girl, dressed in a black and white knee-length gown standing by the door. She had a scared, frightened and stunned expression on her face as she stared at Roseline who was still sitting on the bed.Rose glanced at the girl for a few seconds before her gaze trailed off to the white bag on the floor. Obviously it was the bag that had fallen down and caused a loud thud sound in the room. However, Rose was puzzled why the girl was standing by the door without moving except for the shocked expression on her face. She recognized the girl, who was none other than her roommate.“Why are you standing there like you've just seen a ghost?" Rose finally asked, raising a brow at her roommate, who could also be considered as her friend. In a flash, after the question left Rose's mouth, her roommate who w

‘ I was partially the cause of your accident, if you hadn't come back to California because of me you wouldn't have been involved in that accident.’ Rose thought to herself, feeling guilty for what happened to Alisa. ‘ However, in this life, there wouldn't be a wedding that would make you come back.’ “You know that you're the only one who I think truly cares for me apart from my mother." Rose suddenly remarked, making Alisa turn to look at her with a confused expression." What are you talking -” Before she could finish saying her words, Rose suddenly hugged her which took her by surprise."Thank you, Lisa.” Rose mumbled softly , hugging her tighter. This was supposed to happen when she saw Alisa again but she was too consumed by the thought of getting revenge to organize her thoughts. “Hey, why are you suddenly acting this way?" *************California, Los Angeles airport. There were crowds of people who exited and entered the airport. Despite the fact that everyone had their destination to run to, they couldn't help but have their attention drawn to a particular direction. In that certain direction that had almost everyone in the airport staring at was none other a slender tall man at the height of 197cm. He was wearing a tailored black suit, white dress shirt and black tie. Just take a glance at his dressing, and one could tell instantly that what he was wearing was filthy expensive. His silky black hair was neatly styled in a short comb over, silver rimmed pilot sunglasses were propped comfortably on his high nose, his thin lips were a shade of peach. He was seductively handsome, however, he emitted a cold and aloof aura.Trailing behind him was his personal assistant and five fully built bodyguards. Each one of them dressed in black suit with the King crest embroidered on the chest of their jacket. Hi

Rose, on the other hand, had effortlessly raised the attention from the many people in the airport, however, she was paying very little attention to the bystanders who were watching the scene. As much as she hated causing a public scene such as she was doing now. However, she just couldn’t let this one pass by just like that since her patience button had already been pushed. ‘How can such a person exist in this world?!!’ All she did was just accidentally bump into him. She even went as far as to apologize to him, but he was acting way over dramatic and acted as if she was some kind of cockroach that touched him. Truly despicable!!“Anyways, since I've already apologized to you, then there isn’t a reason for me to be standing here any longer.” Rose mumbled as she bent down to pick up her backpack which had slipped off her shoulder earlier when she fell to the ground. She dusted off the dust on her bag and slung it over her shoulder not bothering to pay attention to the man staring a

Rose made her way to the black gate and pressed the button on the voice intercom that was placed outside the gate for visitors. “Young Miss, how may we help you?" A voice belonging to a security officer asked Rose through the intercom. They had been watching her every move ever since she stepped out of the taxi and made her way to the black gate through the CCTV camera that was outside. “Hello, I'm here to see the Gray family.” Rose announced through the intercom. It was obvious that the security guard didn't remember her since she hadn't come in a car owned by the Gray household. Besides, it's been years since she moved to study overseas as well.‘I guess I will just let this one slide.’"Do you have an appointment?" The security guard asked again."No I don't." Rose replied curtly. “That……" The security guard was about to say something when Rose interrupted him.“You can go ahead and inform them of my presence here, I'm sure they would know me instantly." As Rose followed Leo out of her room and down the grand staircase, she found herself wondering what exactly he had planned. Although she might not know Leo fully, she could already guess the kind of personality he has. ‘It could be anything from a simple drive to an impromptu trip across the city.’ Rose thought to herself. Either way, she knew she wouldn’t hear the end of it unless she went along. The moment they reached the ground floor, the sight of Anne and Karen sitting in the living room greeted them. They were seated on the plush couches, engaged in quiet conversation, but it was Karen who first noticed them approaching. Her eyes flickered to Rose and then to Leo, her brows drawing together slightly. "Dear, you decided to come downstairs already? Where are you two going?" she asked, her tone casual but laced with curiosity. Leo, never one to hesitate, shoved his hands into his pockets and smirked. "Just taking Rose out for some fun. She’s been locked up in her room all day, b

The soft tapping of fingers against a keyboard filled the quiet room as Rose remained focused on her work. She had been at it for hours, barely noticing the time passing. The only interruption she had experienced was when the maid brought her lunch, but even then, she had barely acknowledged it before returning to her task. A sudden knock on the door startled her, pulling her out of her concentration. Blinking, she stretched slightly before glancing at her phone. Her brows furrowed when she saw the time—it was already late afternoon. She hadn’t realized how long she had been working. Setting her things aside, Rose got up and walked toward the door. She turned the handle and pulled it open, only to find a familiar figure standing outside. Leo. He leaned casually against the doorframe, his arms crossed as he regarded her with an unreadable expression. “Leo?” Rose blinked, slightly surprised to see him. “What are you doing here?” Instead of answering immediately, Leo smirked.

As soon as Rose stepped out of the car, a warm and welcoming sight greeted her. Anne and Karen stood at the entrance, their expressions filled with anticipation. "Rose, my dear!" Anne was the first to speak, stepping forward to take Rose’s hands in hers. She gave them a gentle squeeze before pulling her into a warm embrace. Rose smiled, returning the hug with familiarity. Anne’s embraces had become something she was used to—and, secretly, something she had grown to like. “Mother, I want to hug Rose too.” Karen’s voice came from behind, causing Anne to release Rose and turn toward her daughter-in-law. Karen wore a small pout, her usual composed demeanor slightly softened. Rose raised an amused brow at Karen. Though she hadn’t spent much time with her, she had always noticed how different Karen's personality was and it was the opposite of her own mother. Karen was calm and collected—unlike Ruby, whose very presence was enough to warn others not to cross her. “I thought you always l

As the car drove away from the Gray Mansion, Rose let out a soft sigh and leaned back against the seat. The weight of the morning’s events should have exhausted her, but instead, she felt lighter—freer. Luthor glanced at her through the rearview mirror, his lips curling into a small smirk. “You handled that well.” Rose tilted her head, feigning innocence. “Did I? I was just saying goodbye.” Luthor chuckled, shaking his head. “Right. And I’m sure your brother, Victor, enjoyed that hug, too.” A playful glint flashed in Rose’s eyes. “Brother Luthor, are you saying my farewell wasn’t heartfelt?” “Oh, it was heartfelt, alright. Just not in the way he expected,” Luthor remarked with amusement. “What did you say to him?” Rose rested her chin on her hand, her expression unreadable. “Just a little advice on choosing his words wisely.” Luthor hummed. “You mean a warning.” She smiled sweetly. “Advice. Warnings sound so… aggressive.” Luthor chuckled again. “You’re something else, little

Morning light streamed through the large windows of Rose’s room as Paige moved around with an air of practiced efficiency, carefully folding the last of Rose’s clothes. Although her expression remained neutral, there was a barely concealed sense of relief in her movements—relief that Rose was finally leaving the Gray Mansion. Rose, of course, noticed. She sat gracefully on the edge of her bed, watching as Paige meticulously arranged her belongings. “You seem eager to help today, Aunty.” Rose mused, her voice light with amusement. Paige, momentarily caught off guard, quickly regained her composure. “I just thought you’d want everything done efficiently,” she replied with a polite smile. “Since you’re leaving for the Anderson family… it’s important that everything is in place.” Rose chuckled softly, standing up. “How thoughtful of you.” Paige glanced at her briefly before returning to her task. “Rose, if I may offer some advice… The Andersons aren’t the Grays here. She cast a brief, unreadable glance at William and Beatrice. Their carefully composed expressions betrayed nothing, but she could feel the tension radiating off them. Without a word, she turned towards the grand staircase, intent on returning to her room. But just as she was about to place her foot on the first step, Beatrice’s voice called out, laced with careful concern. “Rose, wait.” Rose paused but didn’t turn immediately, letting the silence stretch just a little before shifting her gaze back to her. Beatrice had taken a few hesitant steps forward, her expression soft, her eyes shimmering as if on the verge of tears. “My dear, I'm so sorry you had to witness all of that.” She said regretfully. Rose raised her brow at Beatrice. “I don't why you're apologizing?” She asked. Beatrice shook her head and fake a small smile on her face. “It's all my fault. I should have paid more attention to you, that way the matriarch wouldn't have come here and asked you to come with them. I k

Rose on the other hand blinked. So that was why they were here? She knew something like this would happen but it seems like she didn't expect it to be this soon. She glanced at William, who, for once, remained quiet. Beatrice, on the other hand, looked like she had swallowed something bitter. ‘Looks like I've missed a show.’ Rose's lips curled up into a faint smile when she saw how obedient both William and Beatrice are. Suddenly, a thought popped into her brain. “I appreciate that, Uncle Julian,” Rose said sincerely. “But I don’t know if I should leave with you guys or not? Have you spoken with your father yet?” she asked why casting William a look. Both Anne and Julian immediately caught her gaze. Anne suddenly frowned before she cupped Rose's face to look at her. “My dear, you have nothing to be worried about. We have spoken to him and he has already agreed. I can no longer leave you here in the hands of these people anymore.” Anne replied but Rose gave her a reluctant look. “

William clenched his jaw. He knew Anne wasn’t bluffing. The Anderson family had the power to make his life far more difficult if he continued to resist. But still, letting Rose go meant giving up control over her, and he wasn’t ready for that. "You’re asking me to give up my own daughter," he said, his tone measured yet tense. Anne leaned back slightly, her expression unwavering. "I’m not asking. I’m telling you that this is what’s going to happen." Julian's expression added to the tensity in the room."Rose belongs with us now. You lost the right to dictate her life the moment you let her suffer in that scandal." William’s fingers tightened around the armrest of his chair. He could feel the walls closing in. It would be foolish to go against the Andersons given his situation, but he wasn’t about to hand over his daughter so easily. After a long moment of silence, he let out a deep breath. "Fine," he said at last. "I’ll let Rose go with you." Beatrice turned to him in surprise. "

Beatrice, who had been busy receiving a foot massage from one of the maids, sat up instantly. “What did you just say?” she asked with a surprised expression on her face as she looked at Mary. “Madam , this is not the time to sit down. I think you should go and make an appearance immediately before things get out of hand.” Mary advised Beatrice, who nodded her head in agreement despite the fact that she was still stunned by the news. “Does my husband know about this already?” Beatrice asked as she gestured to the other maid to leave. “I overheard the Head maid instructing the maid to go and inform the Master.” Mary replied. “Alright, let's go.“ Beatrice said and quickly rushed out of the room along with Mary behind her. Just as she stepped out of the room, she met William in the hallway, and he had a sour expression. “Honey, have you heard? Why would they come here at this hour?" she murmured, exchanging a wary glance at her husband. William exhaled sharply. "Only one way to fi
