When his cell phone rang, Adrian sighed seeing the name on the screen. He suddenly felt tired. His mother would surely persuade him to come home to see Kat.
Reluctantly he picked up the phone. “Yes, mom?”
“I've already called Diana.”
The voice on the other end of the phone stunned Adrian. “What?”
“I've already called Diana. I said I wanted to meet her and tell her about Kat and you.”
Adrian's fingers, which were holding the cell phone, trembled. “You had the heart to do that to me, mom?”
His mother sighed regretfully on the other side. “I'm sorry, Adrian. I have to do it. Otherwise, your hard wall will not fall. I just want you to soften your heart, look at Kat, pity her.”
“What about me? Don't you feel sorry for me, Mom, by committing this cruelty to me, to Diana? She knows nothing!” Adrian growled, starting to get angry.
“I'm sorry, Adri
Adrian feeds Kat with porridge provided by the hospital. Kat wasn't allowed to eat solid food because her stomach still couldn't digest it, but she was able to eat porridge so she was no longer dependent on the IV.They never discussed the breakup again. Adrian held himself back, trying to hold on to being by Kat's side and caring for her when she was sick.Everyone was right. Adrian had a tremendous debt of gratitude to Kat. He only realized now, that caring for the sick was exhausting. Not to mention that Kat had done all these years for him, taking care of him when he was weak and helpless.Maybe deep in his heart Adrian hoped that what he was doing could pay off his debt to Kat. Although he was sure that it was impossible. His debt was too great and could only be paid if he continued his engagement to Kat towards marriage. However, can a marriage be run on the basis of a debt of gratitude? That foundation was too weak to be their foundation. Kat said
Kat stepped off the train towards the exit at a large station in Bandung. Lots of people passing by, mostly shopping for merchandise. She stepped out of the station door, onto the wide platform. She stood for a moment, still, looking around. Breathing the air in a city she often visited as a child.Adrian was in this city, breathing the same air, Kat thought with pain. Supposedly if their relationship was fine, Adrian would be here to pick her up. However, what happened now was that she stepped out here alone, in a suffocating loneliness, feeling sad and ironic.“Kat? Have you been waiting long?”Kat looked up at the call, then smiled when she realized who had picked her up. “Hello, Dean.” She quickly walked over to her cousin, left hee bag on the floor and hugged him.Dean returned the hug with love, Kat will always be his favorite sister. Dean is an only child, he has no siblings and the only person he can be close to is Kat.
As soon as she got home, Kat immediately threw the books she'd bought at the front desk. She glanced slightly and her chest throbbed when she saw the cover of the book called Jane Eyre. Immediately, Diana's face flashed through her mind as she explained about the book. Diana looked happy, beautiful and cheerful, as if she was not carrying any burden on her mind. Was that the woman who had snatched Adrian's heart from her?Kat took the book and held it tightly in her fingers. Her mind wandered, suddenly imagining what if Adrian smiled gently at Diana, what it would be like when the two walked together and looked so… fit together. The visualization made Kat's chest feel tight and sore.***“I want to invite you.” Diana looked at Adrian who was sitting in front of her with a half worried smile.Adrian took a sip of his coffee, looked at Diana over the top of his cup. “Where?”Diana sighed, then made up her
Dean half slammed his coffee cup onto the table, unable to contain his temper. They sat in a small cafe on the top floor of the building. The sound of gurgling water can actually calm the atmosphere, even with an artificial waterfall with a minimalist pond full of large koi fish that are even tame enough to pet their heads. But apparently it didn't work for Dean, he was furious with Adrian and the way he treated Kat, his cousin whom he loved very much.He just left her for reasons that couldn't be accepted with common sense. Even if the reasons were true, Adrian still had no right to leave Kat alone. He knew very well even though he wasn't in the same city as Kat, that Adrian used to be so weak because of his illness and that Kat had always been there for him with all her heart.Leaving Kat because his heart loves another woman? What a shit reason!Dean subconsciously pouted his lips contemptuously while imagining Adrian.“Do not be an
Diana's cheeks flushed, she didn't answer, but Dean could tell there was a twinkle of love there when he mentioned Adrian's name. “Did you know that Adrian has had a fiancé before?” Dean asked cautiously.Diana frowned, immediately reminded of the strange call from the woman who said she was Adrian's mother and asked to meet, saying about Adrian and his fiancé. The woman didn't show up at their appointment and Adrian told Diana not to think about it anymore.“I know. Adrian told me that he had broken up with his fiancé before he moved to Bandung.”Dean's gaze grew intense. “Do you know why Adrian left his fiancé?”“It's none of my business, right?”Diana was starting to feel uncomfortable. What is the problem between Adrian and his ex-fiancé is not Diana's business. Moreover, Diana only met Adrian after the man broke up with his fiancé, as Adrian explained to
Adrian waited for three hours, but Diana didn't show up at the coffee shop where they liked to sit together, counting the rain. He had tried several times to call her cell phone, but it was off.The sky was getting darker and cloudy, while Adrian was getting worried. Finally after some deliberation, Adrian called Clarissa. Maybe she knew why Diana didn't come to their meeting, which had never happened before.“Helllo?” Clarissa's voice seemed cheerful on the other end. Adrian smiled in relief. Diana seems to be okay.“Clarissa, do you know where Diana is?”Silence, Clarissa seemed stunned on the other side. “Isn't Diana with you, Adrian? She said she wanted to go to the cafe where you promised to meet when we were on campus.”Adrian's heart thumped. “Clarissa, Diana didn't come to the meeting place. I've been waiting here for three hours.”“What?” Clarissa seemed really shocked. She
The first thing Kat did was push Dean as hard as she could. Her breath hitched at the kiss she didn't expect. She looked at Dean confusedly covered in anger."Why the hell did you do that, Dean?"Kat herself couldn't figure it out. For whatever reason, Dean kissed her! It was something she didn't expect at all. Dean is her cousin, her brother! They have been together since childhood and Kat has always thought of Dean as her brother. But the man had just kissed her and Kat was feeling really dizzy. Dean was her brother, wasn't he? And siblings can't possibly kiss each other!Kat took a step back, gazing warily at Dean. Her hand brushing her lips which were still hot from the man's kiss.Dean himself looked at Kat with a look of regret. His eyes dimming, hesitating. “I'm sorry, Kat.”He really wasn't planning on kissing Kat. Dean really wished he could have restrained himself earlier, but Kat had pulled his innermost emotional
Kat felt her legs go weak so she stepped back and sat down on the sofa. Her face was deathly pale, much to Dean's dismay. He immediately sat down next to her and clasped her hands, trying to warm her hands which were suddenly cold as ice, secretly grateful that Kat didn't refuse. “I'm sorry I have to hurt you like this, Kat.” Dean looked deeply at Kat. It hurt his heart to see the pain there, in Kat's eyes, knowing the truth about her. Hurting Kat was the last thing Dean wanted. He loved Kat; all he wanted was her happiness. However, to be able to love Kat without being blamed, Dean is forced to reveal all the truth, even though it will tear her feelings apart. “Really?” Kat frowned. “I'm not mom and dad's biological child?” Kat's fingers trembled, causing Dean to grip hers even tighter. “Uncle had an accident when he was young so he was unable to produce offspring,” Dean spoke carefully, his fingers squeezing Kat's gently. “Aunt does not want t
"Are you okay?" Reeves asked the woman beside him who had been silent for a while with a sad face, occasionally glancing at the wounds on Reeves' body.Reeves chuckled. "You have to look at yourself. You're hurt too, Vida. Don't worry too much about me. I'm fine."Vida immediately looked away and rubbed the corners of her eyes. Her whole body was screaming in pain, but the injuries to Reeves' body were so much worse that the pain Vida was suffering seemed to be nothing.“Take it easy. Soon the doctor will come to examine us again.”Vida laid her body tensely on the hospital bed which felt very uncomfortable. Shw just wanted to get out of here immediately and dispel all thoughts of the accident earlier. They were finally placed in a VIP room together at Roy Wijaya's request after some time. He just wanted his men to be able to keep an eye on them without being split into two rooms like before.Meanwhile, even though their injuries
The wind blew the blinds on the open windows. The breeze was cool and immediately hit Mira's face who was sitting on her bed with a blank stare at the cotton tree outside, where two birds were making nests—picking up small branches and arranging them on one of the tree's branches. Apparently, the two birds are a couple, who are building a house for their future children. The birds then reminded Mira of her relationship with her husband. Which over the years has cooled and cannot be called fine. They too used to be like the bird, building their harmonious home for their dear son; Reeves. However, all of that was broken like a storm and rain which one day would also hit the bird's nest on the cotton tree, the presence of an illegitimate child, who Mira never suspected existed. As a result of all that, she became like this. Spent the rest of her meaningless life on a lonely bed. Her husband is somewhere, she doesn't care. But her son ... Mira missed him. She
A few moments later, Roy Wijaya's assistant came after completing the administration. He also informed that Miss Vida has been transferred to the VIP room which is the best service in this hospital.“Master, Miss Vida has already been transferred to the VIP room. Are you going to see her for a bit?” reported the assistant to Roy Wijaya.“Is Miss Vida awake? I will ask her a little information," asked the policeman then took out his notebook. The assistant turned to Roy Wijaya intending to ask his permission whether he could tell the police or not. Roy Wijaya just nodded in agreement."Yes, Miss Vida is awake and she was taking her medicine earlier," replied the assistant. He then invited Roy Wijaya to walk first. The three of them then walked to the top floor, which is a special VIP room floor using the elevator for guests. When they got there, they saw Vida had
Their trip was fine at first. Reeves with a cool style while driving while Vida with a happy face because she will eat food which is one of her favorites. Until suddenly a truck came from behind. It looks like the truck had a brake failure and at high speed descended the downhill road. The truck crashed into the car that was being ridden by Reeves and Vida unavoidably. Due to the force of the collision, the rear body of the car was badly damaged and both their heads bounced forward and hit the windshield. The seat belts managed to keep them from hitting the windshield and shattering them and throwing their bodies forward, which has been confirmed that down there is a ravine, with very hard and sharp rocks down there.Reeves' car horn blared as his cheek pressed against the center of the steering wheel causing the noise. However, it was thanks to the noise that people who were around the scene ran towards the accident. They wanted to help the two of them but both
Vida couldn't believe what she heard with her own ears. She even banged her ears for fear of having trouble with her ears. Reeves who was annoyed to see the girl's behavior restrained her hand so as not to hit her head again.“If you want to hit your head, at least not in front of me!” said Reeves curtly. Vida pouted. She became awkward again when she realized Reeves' hand was holding hers. Likewise with the man who did not realize that he had touched her without his permission. He finally let go of the hand of a woman who would easily smile if she saw something she thought was funny.“I apologize for what I said a few days ago. I was a little too much at the time," said Reeves shyly admitting his mistake."A little? You say a little too much? You've hurt my feelings so much. Do you know that, Mr. Reeves Wijaya?” Vida sarcastically let out the feelings in her heart.&ldq
A few dozen minutes later Reeves' car stopped on a hill with a fairly large parking lot. Not many people were there. Just a few people with their partners. It's the same with the two of them who came in pairs."What place is this?" Vida looked through the windshield to see the place they had visited that night.Reeves half holding back his smile. "You'll find out later. Come on down," he muttered in his usual flat tone for Vida."I don't want to. Until you answer my question, I'm not getting out of the car. Answer quickly! What place is this? Why did you bring me here?" Vida asked just as stubbornly. She folded her arms in front of her chest.Reeves rolled his eyes. "Just come along, Vida, I won't do anything bad to you if you're worried about that." The man was silent for a moment. "Or do you want us to stay here all night?" He shrugged. "I don't mind, you know."Vida is s
Holding back his anger, Liam intends to follow Reeves, who is taking Vida to the rehab where Vida's father is being treated. He could have been made to lose steps from his half-brother. If this continues, that girl's heart might be stolen by that damn Reeves. This cannot be tolerated. As long as he was still breathing, he would keep trying to get Vida's attention at all costs. He would never be willing to lose in any case to Reeves.Driving the BMW 8 Series Coupe, the latest luxury car with beautiful and futuristic body curves, Liam penetrated the city streets which at that time was approaching the hour of work for the workers or employees. Of course he couldn't get to his destination right away because of the traffic jams which annoyed him immensely.Several times the sound of honking horns was heard because they were impatient with each other. Due to the noise that is waiting for him in front of his eyes, plus Liam who was annoyed to hear
Only Reeves and Vida were in the room. Vida observed him leaning casually on the door. The man now looked as usual, looking handsome. The girl's eyes traced his lips and then her cheeks flushed red as the memory of her kiss with him on the balcony hit her straight away. Reeves seemed to know what was on Vida's mind. Maybe because he saw her cheeks suddenly turn bright red."Would you like to go with me?" suddenly Reeves asked. "You don't have anything to do this holiday, do you?"In fact she have. Vida wants to visit her father in rehab while today is a holiday. "No, I have something to do."Instantly Reeves gaze sharpened. "You're going with Liam?"Vida frowned. "No. I don't even know where Liam is. I'm going to visit my father.""In rehab?" Reeves looked thoughtful for a moment. "I'll take you," he continued later, in an undeniably firm voice."No need!" Vida half shouted to refuse. She couldn't imagine spending her day off with Reeves, le
Liam half slams the door to his room, his breath panting and he furrows his brows, actually frowning at the pain. Cold sweat ran down his forehead and he felt excruciating pain all over his body. Liam tried to catch his breath, but a rancid smell wafted from his nose filled with fresh blood, flowing non-stop until it reached frightening levels. He wiped the blood from his nose with his handkerchief, then threw the red handkerchief on the floor. His legs were shaking, he was shuffling trying to reach the bed, but apparently the bed was too far for him.His body fell to the floor, losing consciousness. When Liam opened his eyes, he was in a faint white room. His eyes blinked because of the light that contrasted with the darkness that always surrounded him. Having overcome the light, Liam looked around the room. The first thing he saw was Roy Wijaya. The old man looked somber, sitting in the chair next to his bed."Grandpa, you come back from London?"
