87: We Need To Talk

Jillie's POV

Walking into the kitchen, I saw her open the stove and lean down.

“Mom, don’t move,” I said in a panicky voice as I crossed the kitchen.

“What’s wrong, sweetie?”

I grabbed the oven mitts, moving the pot to one of the back eyes. “Nothing now.”

She stood and looked at me, then at the pot. “Thank you, Jillie. I could have knocked that over. It would have been a nasty burn.”

“I can imagine,” I told her. “Where’s Daddy?”

“He’s getting out of his suit jacket and tie.”

           I set the table for three and pulled the tea from the refrigerator. Mom had just sat the food in the middle of the table when Daddy walked in.

“Hey, Daddy.” 

 “Hey, princess,” he stated before kissing my forehead.
