Drained smile

Daphne's POV

The slushing of the water came to an abrupt stop as I turned off the faucet, splashing the running water on my face as footsteps halted outside the door before throwing on a bathrobe.

“ Lorenzo” a gasp snaked out of my mouth when he leaned forward, his head against my shoulder as he sniffed in and the heavy scent of alcohol wafted into my nostrils.

“You have been drinking?” My words came out in a statement rather than a question with him standing upright.

He sank into the couch. “I know you don't like me drinking, but I needed to clear my head” his eyes were in slit as he gazed upon me so tenderly that my heart twitched.

He looked so devastatingly cute, and I couldn't bring myself to scold him. “Did something happen?” I pushed.

Everything had been fine when he left, but now he looked as if he had been ridden over by a truck, wasted and sad.
