A little history lesson for all my Readers, sitting between the White Sea and Baltic Sea is the Republic of Karelia, a part of what is now known as the Russian Continent and within its boundaries lies the eerily beautiful Vottovaara Mountains. When the glaciers retreated over ten thousand years ago they left behind huge strange boulders known as seidas, many of them looked like they had been intricately carved at a time when no human hand had such capability instead they had been carved by Mother Nature herself. This desolate, barren land shadowed beneath those ancient snowcapped Vottovaara Mountains was believed to harbour the original Earth Spirits and was considered sacred by those who came long after the first creatures that called this place their home. The two-legged parasitical ones eventually discovered the area as they began to overpopulate the pretty blue planet. The snow-white She-Wolf watched from a distance as the two strange upright creatures who had entered her territor
The creature screamed in agony thrashing about in the blindingly white snow covering everything in the deep red of its blood. She watched it briefly as it struggled to crawl away from her but it was too weak and slumped to the ground in a pool of blood. The She-Wolf walked forward and nudged the creature with her nose making it scream in fear and pain. Her stomach rumbled and she snarled this was no time for her to be playing with the food she had not eaten in weeks, leaning forward she caught the strange creature by its neck and brought her jaws together sending the head tumbling across the bloodied snow. She lapped at the warm blood enjoying its sweet coppery taste as it went down her throat, she tore off the dead animal fur it had covered itself with and bit into the soft pink flesh looking for the tasty organs beneath. When her stomach was full she carefully bit off the remaining limbs and buried them near a tree far away from where she had made her kill. They would freeze in the
He watched her leave understanding her unspoken command that he stay put, the cave was reasonably warm and dry, in one corner he found a place where she had stored the fur she shed each spring. It was a little dirty from being shoved into the corner but it more than made up for that inconvenience by being thick and silky soft. With quick agile fingers, the Homos Erectus pulled and twisted the fur shaping it into a rough covering that it could use to cover itself with. It was warm and comforting and he curled back up to sleep until she returned. She had brought him food and even though he knew what the pieces of frozen meat were he had no choice but to eat what was offered to him, his stomach heaved as he chewed and it took a huge amount of effort not to vomit it back up. He did not have a choice, there was no other food to sustain them, it was eat or die and he had a very strong survival instinct just as she had. When they grew tired of eating she nudged him outside to a small rec
She smiled up at him and he chuckled,‘They will not have it all their own way my love, you know what the plans are for this pretty blue planet it will be an interesting experiment watching how they all develop.’The male creature had one more act he needed to perform, and as the She-Wolf's belly grew big with the approaching birth it made it difficult for her to hunt and she knew it was essential that both her and her Pups survived. Two days before she gave birth she did what she had to do and killed him as his meat would feed her and her Pups until the Spring thaw she had given birth to six Pups, three male and three female but only four of them mattered, they were the new Species and when the time was right they took the lives of their siblings and their mother as they needed the food to help them survive. The world settled around them with the great continents detaching themselves from each other to form the land masses of today and the Homo-
Just as they knew of the other creatures that the humans had long forgotten, the powerful Dragons that remained behind their protective shield, the stunning winged unicorns descendants of the mighty Pegasus, the Elves, Faeries, Witches and Warlocks who lived by the ancient codes of magic. All had once shared their lives with the Homo-Sapien race and believed they lived peacefully and helped their neighbours when needed. It was the humans who developed their strong beliefs in a higher Deity rejecting the world of magic and myth and turning against them viewing them as their greatest enemy. They had simply stopped believing as they evolved and developed finding they no longer needed magic when science overtook the old ways and truth became greater than fiction. Humans could fly like birds, only higher and further, they had flown into Space, and they could swim like the fish only deeper and faster as they plundered the bounty of the seas. On land they bred at such a rapid rate they soo
She laughed heartily as he grabbed her and gave her a hug,‘I don’t tell you often enough how much I appreciate all you do for me.’He kissed the top of her head and let her go so he could pick up his sandwich and take a huge bite chewing contentedly,‘It’s nice to be useful.’She grinned and bustled off to his room to make sure the maids had finished his bed and put his clothes away properly and when she closed the door he mind-linked his Beta,‘Karl, bring the Warriors to my office in half an hour’He commanded,‘Yes Alpha, we’re on our way’Alexis stood looking out of his office window at the snow capped mountain finishing his sandwich he felt restless and had a deep foreboding something was coming and it wasn’t going to be good.Aurora sat in her room brushing her long, rich copper coloured hair, it was stunning, a myriad of colours from pale gold to rich crimson a legacy from her Mother she had been told many times growing up. Not that she would know, her Mother had died two week
‘There is nothing I can do for you my Princess, your future is set but your daughter has the blood of both sides running through her veins. On her eighteenth birthday she will inherit the powers of her Ancestors and the magic that runs in your blood that you have had to repress. She will stop the Hunters, including the man you love so much, and your people will be forever free.’Aurora was born at midnight on All Hallows Eve, the wind was howling and hailstones battered the castle as the wildest storm anyone had ever seen raged. She came into the world waving her tiny fists and shouting right back at the storm and as her Mother held her in her arms for the first time the storm broke. Holding her tightly the Princess took her to the window as a huge incredible moon appeared, it was blood red and all around it the clouds seemed to be on fire as the colour seeped into them.‘The Blood Moon, little daughter.’The Princess understood the Goddesses sign,‘It is for you Aurora and I am truly
Martha carried on,‘This is how they work, this ‘feeling’ is just the beginning. Slowly Pack members will become Paranoid and start reacting to each other. It weakens the Pack so that when the Hunters attack it makes their job so much easier. Without the strength of Pack unity, we become easy targets fighting solo instead of together.’She stopped and looked at Alexis her face reflecting her sadness,‘I’m so sorry.’He moved across the room and hugged her tightly,‘Don’t apologise Martha, none of this is youor fault now please can you tell us what else you know?’It wasn’t much more but it was enough, Alexis turned to Karl,‘Go and find Morgana and bring her here.’He asked his Beta who nodded and left immediately.Morgana was the most powerful witch in the whole of the Vottovaara Mountain Region he had found her many years ago, seriously injured and dropped into a ravine just inside their boundary and left to perish. He had been a young wolf, only just coming into his adulthood, out
