Why does it matter?

When several people were toasting to Charles, he remained seated, standing only when he saw someone approaching.

David paused for a moment, feeling flattered and surprised, and broke into a smile. "You don't need to get up," he said.

"No problem," Charles said, picking up his wine glass and clinking it against David's. He then turned his gaze to Maria.

"I have to admit," he said, "I heard Maria play the piano a long time ago, and I was deeply moved by her music. She's a genius pianist with an unbelievable talent. I know she's part of your team, and I hope you'll take good care of her in the future."

This revelation stunned not only David, but also the other judges and girls present. They finally understood why Charles was so kind to Maria. It turned out he was a fan of hers!

Lucy and Rivata felt a pang of jealousy.

Even Alice felt a pang of emotion. They were all highly accomplished pianists and each was considered a genius by their home country. Did they fall short of Maria?
