Five

"Ray baby! Where are you? Look what I have bought for you." I yelled running out on the ground.

"Just come baby. I can't run anymore. You win." I pant halting at my track and take a long breath.

"Ray! You know I miss you and now come out from your hidden spot otherwise I will take away your favorite toy." I threatened to ground him when he didn't show up.

Then I see him running towards me in his full glory wiggling his tail. Oh! How much I have missed this type of greeting.

If only I could be less busy and take care of him then I don't need to leave him here. I bent down to reached his level and pat his head to which he purrs in happiness.

"Oh! Ray. I miss you a lot. Get well soon and we will go home." I cooed stroking his soft brown fur.

"What a happy mom and son reunion?" A husky male voice said halting near Ray.

"I'm not his mom." I retorted looking at the intruder with narrowed eye and that idiot deserved it.

"Can't digest the fact that I rejected you so come here to beg for more?" I snorted standing on my feet still glaring at the idiot with a cocky smirk.

I was expecting a comeback or a harsh remark but none came and he look at me with an amused expression as if calculating my every action with a smug grin, which I so want to rub from his handsome face.

That made me to look at his outfit. He was wearing a navy-blue shirt with denim looking breathtaking as usual but with an irritating smirk plastered on his handsome face.

I have already told him yesterday that I don't want to marry him and that too in front of his family but he didn't seem to understand the meaning of the word rejection.

And I have a heated argument with my mom about the marriage thing which is because of the idiot standing in front of me.

"I didn't accept your proposal so you have started to stalk me." I snorted trying to make him furious but the manger came making me huff in annoyance.

"Oh! Mr.Knight. What's brings you here after so many years?" The manager said in a professional manner with utmost respect.

"Do you know him?" I raise my eyebrow at Neil, the manager of the dog care center.

"Of course, Ms.Sench. He is the old customer who had given a dog to take care of and...Ray! Was his name Ray?" Neil asked Arthur with a raised eyebrow.

"Yeah! He is Ray. He has grown into a big dog." He replied looking at my Ray.

"He is indeed. Ms.Sench, it would be nice if you give Ray to Mr.Knight. He might want to bond with him." Nile said with a small smile.

"Why?! He is my dog." I protest like a child who didn't want to share her candy.

"He isn't taking him away. He just wants to see him and he was the real owner." Neil try to reason out.

"What do you mean by real owner?" I asked looking confused.

"He was my dog's pup and I gave him to this center which later on gave it to you so technically I'm the real owner." Arthur spoke in a firm voice.

"He might have belonged to you before but he is mine when you gave it away. So stay away from him." I narrowed my eyes at him.

"Ms.Sench..." Neil was cut off by Arthur.

"It's okay, Neil. We will take care of it." Arthur dismissed him and he leave us alone.

"Don't be a child Yerin? I just want to see him." He said coming towards me.

"I'm not being a child and you just want to see him so now go. You have seen enough." I yell shooing him away.

"Ray! Come here." He said thinking that Ray will run to him but no, he is my dog so he will not obey strangers.

But Ray betrayed me when he ran to him and purr when he patted his head. My mouth was parted and I shoot daggers at Ray but soon pout

remembering that Ray is sick so the medicine might have affected him.

"See. The pet knows his owner." He smirks at me running his hand on Ray's stomach.

"Owner is the one who look after them not abandon them." I retorted in a same tone.

"Then what's makes you different? You too have abandoned him." He shoves his hand on his pant pocket with a smug look.

"I didn't abandon him but left him with my mom and dad so he would have better care." I said looking at Ray with a warm smile.

"Anyways, what’s makes you come here? I don't believe that you're here for Ray." I wiggle my eyebrows at him and then a care taker came to take Ray for rest.

Ray was a gift from my dad for my 16th birthday and from then he is the part of our family. Mom and dad treat him like a baby and I too adore him like my baby brother as I don't have one.

He is the one with whom I slept at night and run around the house while mom came looking for us when we would steal nutella.

He was trained with some basic manners before giving to us which makes him easier to understand our words and blend as a one of us.

When I wanted to go to NY for further studies, I don't want to go because of him but then mom promised to take care of him so I left him here with heavy heart but I always call to ask about him.

Unfortunately, last month he became ill and we need to put him in care center for medication for five days a month, so I came here to see him and tomorrow I might take him home.

"I was here to know about Ray but now I would like to chat with you." He said looking intensely at me.

"I don't think we're old buddies to chat." I roll my eyes with a bored expression.

"We're old buddy, Yerin. Haven't you remembered me when I had told my name? You can't forget your teenage crush so easily." He mocked me with his signature smirk.
