Jane’s POV Years ago… Eric and I were lying down on the bed while watching a movie together. When we watched the scene where the female lead entered the elegant party and everyone, including the handsome male lead, stared at her with awe, I felt so giddy that I paused the video and squealed like an idiot. “Omg!” I said while stomping my feet and punching the pillow beside me. Even though I did not have interest in dating when I was in college, I still had romantic emotions within me. “Why did you pause it?” Eric asked me in a bored tone. They said dreams start when you become a college student. And so, I used the movie as my excuse for having another dream. “I wanted to attend a party like that,” I said while pointing at the laptop screen. Lance, who heard my new wish, answered me in an apathetic tone. “You wanted to attend a boring party?” “What do you mean it’s boring? Attending an extravagant party while wearing a beautiful dress is one of every woman’s dreams.” “
When the inauguration party started, Eric had two goals. First, he is excited to release the new car model of the company. And second, to see Jane wearing the blue dress that he bought. He was looking forward to how the dress would suit Jane's complexion and doll-like face. He swears she would be the most beautiful woman in the party. Eric is inside the waiting room. He never felt nervous giving a speech in front of the crowd but only felt tense tonight. He was known as ‘Mr. Perfectionist’ in the company. So no one would think that the almighty new official CEO of Geelq Car company would make a mess during his speech. If only they can see how Eric’s hands tremble right now, they might have second thoughts. Why would he feel nervous anyway? Because of the two guests whom he invited to the party. He’s certain that right now, Lance and Jane arrived at the hall. ‘And I will see them together. Damn it.’ He’s excited to see Jane. But he was sure he’d puke thorns and needles the mome
Cyrus was so puzzled at the way Jane reacted at him during the CEO’s speech just a moment ago. He couldn’t help but to reminisce the scene again and again inside his head: “Jane Cameron? You are Jane Cameron, right?” “Y-Yes. My name is Jane Cameron, Sir.” “Nice to meet you. I am Cyrus Desmond. I am Eric’s older brother. I was looking at you ever since you came inside the hall. It was because you seemed so familiar to me, Miss Cameron.” Jane fell in silence as she kept looking at his face, and so Cyrus continued. “Correct me if I’m wrong. But are you Eric’s classmate during college?” Wordless, Jane opened her eyes widely. “I actually saw you in our company,” Cyrus added. “You were wearing our company I.D so I thought you were also an employee of Geelq. But I found out that you aren’t.” “...” ‘Why isn’t she responding?’ Cyrus pondered. He cleared his throat and uttered, “If you are really Eric’s classmate, why did you suddenly visit my brother? I heard he’s been with a
Jane’s POVWhen the time turned back, I thought that all I needed to do was to give Eugene a life he would not regret. But I had doubts after meeting Cyrus Desmond. In the future, Cyrus and I died. After the day he took his life, I got into an accident. And now, the two of us who did not meet in the original future have met. What would be the reason?‘Because our fates entangled each other.’ Looking back, I heard the news from the television before going to the police station to fetch my son. I did not have the time to listen more about how Cyrus died. All I know is that he killed himself. Therefore, I kept on thinking that his death is related to why I was brought back in this time.‘It is not about giving Eugene a good life. It is saving myself from death.’ If Cyrus’ death and mine were the reason for this mysterious time reverse, then I should stop our fates.Goosebumps spread on my skin.I felt scared for the first time ever since I came back in the past. I was so confident that
A strong forced pulled Eric. He felt the unbearable pain in his head as his blues eyes darkened. When he opened his eyes, Eric was standing in the middle of the narrow way. Cold wind passed. Droplets of water fell from the roof. ‘Where am I?’ He asked himself. But he couldn’t open his mouth, as if he lost all of his motor control. Eric stayed in that place until he saw two people from afar. He narrowed his eyes into the woman and a boy. When Eric recognized that the woman was Jane, his eyes widened. Jane’s appearance changed. She looks older than he could remember. Her messy hair was tied with a bun and there were dark circles under her eyes. Jane looks like someone who suffered a lot from working so hard. She is so thin and frail. ‘Jane,’ Eric tried to call her, but no voice came out from his lips. He looked at the boy standing in front of Jane. The adolescent tall boy has blue eyes. He resembles Eric in a lot of ways.‘A boy who looks like me. Is he my…’ Eric would never for
“Do you like Lance? Last night, I saw you and your boss hugging each other in the garden. What was that?”The answer to Eric’s question is very simple. Jane can tell him the truth. She does not like Lance and they weren’t hugging last night. It was an accident. However, Jane couldn’t bring herself to answer the question because she wanted to know the reason why he had to ask this.Just a moment ago, they were talking about why Eric is kind to her, and also about his upcoming marriage. But suddenly, Eric asked her if she likes Lance.‘How did he think of this and how did he see that?’ Jane wondered inside her head. While they were staring at each other, silence cut through. As the quietness bounced back and forth inside the huge house, Jane felt her heart being ripped from her chest. One second beating, the next silent and still.Seconds passed by but Jane couldn’t figure out why Eric needed to hear her answer. It was then Eric’s voice returned.“Let’s eat.”He turned around and walked
Early in the morning, Eric asked secretary Byron to buy food in the Supermarket. On his way home, he picked up Eugene from the Desmond mansion. But before they go, Eugene asks Byron to stop somewhere. Byron was surprised that the place Eugene wanted to visit is the supermarket. The kid said that his grandfather gave him money. And so, the boy wanted to buy something for his mom. And Byron did not expect what the boy bought. Eugene bought detergents. While driving the car, Byron glanced at the happy kid who is still holding the bag of detergent with a smile on his face. Who would have thought that a six-year-old would think of buying soaps as a gift? Byron thought he’s so cute that he couldn’t help but to chuckle silently. “Are we there yet?” Eugene asked him. “Almost, Eugene. Just a few kilometers away.” “I see,” the kid murmured, nodding his head. “Where is my mom? I thought we would go there together.” “About your mom, she called me this morning. She said that…” Byron stop
“Back off, mister. Why do you want mom to pat your head? You are not a kid anymore.” “Kid, don’t discriminate people with their ages. Anyone can pat someone’s head if you do something good to them.” “Then, giving cereal to mom is not enough. We have cereal in home.” “I saved her from falling down.” “I don’t think mom is thankful for that. She looked very uncomfortable before.” “So what? As long as I saved her. That is still good deeds worth of praise.” “Hah,” Eugene scoffed. “Good deeds? I don’t think you have the rights to say that Mister. After all, you abandoned mom and I.” Eric froze at my son’s harsh words. I never told Eugene that his father abandoned us. But I guess, not explaining it affected my son’s perspective towards his father. I felt both sorry and unapologetic to Eric. It does not feel good to see how he reacted after hearing our son’s accusation. Eric stared at Eugene as if he was so embarrassed to even face the kid. At the same time, I blamed Eric too. I ke
