(Writer's POV)

Alex and Stefan ended up at a nearby open bar. It was the kind where passersby could easily glimpse inside. Alex had chosen this spot because it was quiet and different from the indoor bars that played loud, deafening music.

"Are you in love with my sister?" Alex asked coldly, his tone sharp and authoritative. From the way he spoke, one might mistake him for a spoiled little brat, but he was far from it. Alex loved Allison deeply and was determined to ensure that the heartbreak she had endured before would never repeat itself.

He was only fourteen when Scott shattered Allison’s heart, and all Alex could do then was console his devastated sister. But now, as an adult, he had the strength and determination to protect her at all costs, even if it meant confronting anyone who dared to hurt her.

Stefan smiled calmly and poured alcohol into Alex’s glass. "Have a drink?"

"I asked you a question, Stefan. It’s disrespectful to ignore me," Alex fumed, his irritation evident.

(Allison's POV) "Where's Alex?" I asked when Stefan came back without him. "He went back to school," Stefan replied, and I frowned. "He went back to school without telling me? When did he start doing that?" I asked, though I didn't expect an answer from Stefan. "He said he had an early class tomorrow, and that's why he went back to school. But don't worry, Allison. Alex will be fine—he's not a kid anymore," Stefan tried to calm my nerves, but I couldn't stop myself from worrying about him. Alex is my younger brother, and I care about him just as much as he cares about me. I quickly grabbed my phone to call him, just to make sure he was back at school, but Bonnie beat me to it—she has a knack for calling whenever I’m about to check on my family. "What's up, boss?" Bonnie said loudly over the phone. She always calls me "boss" when she wants to tease me. "Hey, Bonnie. What's up?" "I'm good. I just dropped your younger brother off at his school." "Alex?" I asked. "How many broth

(Writer's POV)"Hi Alex, can we eat lunch together?" a young girl, eighteen years old, with honey-colored hair and cute glasses asked Alex, who was seated with his friends inside the classroom. Her smile was innocent, making her look adorable. Her name was Skye, and she was an English student."I'm sorry, Skye, but I have another class to attend," Alex replied, and the cute smile on her face disappeared immediately."Oh, I see," she muttered sadly. One of Alex's friends nudged him. There were three of them in total, and all four shared a room in the boys' dorm."What do you mean you have classes? Our classes ended a few minutes ago. We don't have any classes until tomorrow," Jeremy said, while the rest of his friends nodded in agreement.Alex felt like punching their faces one after the other because they had just ruined his plan. He had lied about having classes because he didn't want to be alone with Skye. He wasn't slow-witted; he knew she liked him. She had followed him around sin

(Allison's POV)"Really? Alex called you but didn't say a word?" I asked Bonnie, who was sitting across from me."Yes. I tried calling him back, but he didn't pick up. I don't know why he hates it so much when I call him 'kid brother,'" Bonnie frowned."Or maybe you should stop calling my brother a kid. He's already twenty years old," I teased."He's still a kid to me, Allison. You better tell your brother to get used to it because I am his big sis.""You are just so obsessed with calling Alex your kid brother because you're an only child.""You're right. Should I adopt him so he can accept me as his big sister?" Bonnie asked, and we both laughed at her words. But it's still strange to me why Alex doesn't want Bonnie as his big sister when we all act like a family."So, have you thought of a way to tell your family the truth?" she asked, the smile on her face disappearing as I shook my head.Bonnie let out a deep sigh. "What are you waiting for, Allison?" she groaned."I'm going to te

(Allison's POV) Is he crazy? I thought to myself, staring at Scott, who looked deadly serious about what he had just said. Both Bonnie and Peter had surprised looks on their faces as they tried to process why he wanted to join our date. "Boss, I thought you said you had something to attend to?" Peter asked, while Bonnie’s eyes remained fixed on Scott. She had met him but still had no idea he was my ex—the same man she loathed so much. "I changed my mind. I’m going to have lunch with the four of you," he said. With every word that came out of his mouth, his gaze was locked on Stefan’s hand, which was still firmly placed on my waist. I could clearly see the jealousy in his eyes, but I didn’t care. He shouldn’t be part of this date. What if he spilled the truth about having access to being Liam’s father out of jealousy or anger? "I don’t think that will be possible, Scott," I said. At the mention of his name, Bonnie quickly looked at me, wondering if this was the same Scott I h

(Allison's POV) "What are you doing here? No, how did you get into my house?" I demanded, certain that I never gave him the password to my house. "I see you're back from your date," he said, like a husband who had been waiting for his wife to come home. "You haven't answered my question, Scott. How did you get in here?" I asked, walking up to him. "Did you break into my house?" "I am not a thief. Why would I break into your house?" Scott replied, clearly entertained as he continued eating from the bowl of cereal in his hand. "Then tell me how you got in!" I shouted, letting him know I was dead serious. He put the bowl of cereal on the table and stood up, his height towering over me. We were so close that I had to moved back a little. "Tell me how you got in." "Liam helped out," he answered. "Liam? He’s supposed to be in school. So what the heck are you saying?" I asked, anger bubbling within me. Of course, I had to be angry. What if Stefan had come in with me when I

(Scott's POV) "Daddy, what's that?" Liam asked excitedly, pointing at the rollercoaster. I had him perched on my shoulders, his enthusiasm radiating through every word. "It's a rollercoaster," I replied with a small smile. "It looks like fun! Can I ride it?" he asked, his eyes sparkling with anticipation. "No, you can't," I said gently. "Why not?" "You're too young for that," I explained. "When you get older, Daddy will let you ride a rollercoaster." "Is that a promise?" His voice brimmed with excitement. When I nodded, he broke into a happy little dance, momentarily forgetting he was on my shoulders. For a five-year-old, he had no idea how heavy he was, but he’s my son—I’d endure it anyways. As for Allison, she hadn’t said much since we got here. She only agreed to come because she’s the kind of mom who’d do anything for her son. But the thought of Stefan being back in California kept gnawing at me. The way he tried to provoke me at the restaurant still lingered i

(Allison's POV) "Are you sure letting Liam spend the weekend with Scott is a good idea?" Bonnie asked when I told her about Liam's decision the following day at work. "That's what Liam wanted. I couldn't say no to him," I muttered. I did everything I could last night to convince Liam to get down from Scott's car, but he refused, claiming he wanted to see what his daddy's house looked like. So, I gave in to his request. I couldn’t even sleep a wink all night; it was my first time being apart from Liam. "I know you love your son so much, but you don’t always have to agree to everything he says," Bonnie suggested. "I just can’t help it, Bonnie. You know how difficult it was for me to bring him into this world, right? Liam is my source of joy. He’s the reason I didn’t give up and kept striving even when things were tough. Besides, Scott is his dad—he just wants to spend time with him," I explained to Bonnie. "It would've been a different story if your family knew you allowed S

(Writer's POV) "Welcome back, ma," the maids greeted as Jenna entered the house, her arms laden with shopping bags. Being bratty as always, Jenna tossed the bags at them carelessly before flopping onto the couch, a smirk forming on her face. "What's with the smile?" Lydia asked, emerging from the kitchen. "There you are, Lydia," Jenna grinned, causing Lydia to furrow her brows in confusion. "Someone looks happy today. What happened?" Lydia asked as she took a seat beside Jenna on the couch. "My plan is finally falling into place," Jenna said excitedly. Lydia raised an eyebrow, looking puzzled. "What plan?" she asked. "Are you suffering from dementia? How can you forget so easily?" Jenna replied, slightly annoyed. "I'm sorry, I don’t remember any plan you told me about." Jenna shot Lydia an irritated glare before smiling again. "Since I'm in a good mood, I’ll tell you all about it." She paused before continuing, "I’m finally friends with Allison." "Allison? The same

(Writer's POV) Gwen angrily walked into Hugo's study room and dropped a letter for him on the table. "What's this?" he asked. "It's a letter from the court. Scott is pushing through with the case. If Jason is taken to court, we're going to lose because all the evidence about what he did is on Clara's body. We need to do something about this, Hugo!" Gwen said loudly. "I'm trying." "No, you're not! If you're trying like you said, my son wouldn't still be in jail! He's crying every day. My son has lost so much weight! This is all your fault! If you hadn't had a one-night stand with a woman, Scott wouldn't have come into existence!" she spat. "Can you stop? It's already in the past. I don't acknowledge him as my son. Isn't that enough for you?" Hugo questioned. "No! It's not enough for me, Hugo! All I want is for you to get my son out of jail and make sure he doesn't appear in court. Speak sense into Scott, make him do what you want! You've always been good at that!" "That was six

(Writer's POV) Skye's eyes widened in shock as Alex kissed her. She hadn't seen it coming—not after how he had rejected her. She got her thoughts straight, and just when she was about to kiss him back, Alex broke the kiss. Realizing what he had just done, he ran his hands through his hair. "Why did you kiss me, Alex?" Skye asked with a smile. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to kiss you, Skye. I'm so sorry," he apologized, and the smile on her face turned into sadness. "What do you mean you didn't mean to kiss me? You kissed me out of the blue, so what the heck are you saying, Alex?" Skye asked, her voice strained. She thought the kiss meant something to Alex. She had hoped maybe he was finally starting to like her and that was why he kissed her—only for her hopes to be crushed by his apology. "I wasn't thinking when I kissed you." "I still don't understand you, Alex." "I'm sorry, Skye. I shouldn't have kissed you out of the blue. I just had a misunderstanding with the woman I love,

(Writer's POV) Alex pushed his luggage into the condo with a smile on his face. He had just moved into the condo he rented. It was a small apartment, but it was enough since he'd be the only one living in it. "It just needs a little fixing, and it will be perfect," he smiled to himself. Just when he was about to get to work, the doorbell rang. "Is Allison here already?" he muttered, then went to open the door. To his surprise, it turned out to be Bonnie. "Congratulations, Alex!" she exclaimed, spraying confetti on him. "Bonnie? What are you doing here?" he asked, surprised to see her at his doorstep. "Can you let me in first?" she grinned. Alex moved aside so she could enter. "Whoa! The apartment looks nice," Bonnie complimented, her eyes moving around. "You're already inside. Can you answer my question? Allison was supposed to be here." "I know. But she had a lot of work at the company, so she’s taking care of it. I volunteered to come help you settle in," Bonnie

(Scott's POV) "What happened?" Allison asked when I approached her with a frown on my face. "It's nothing," I replied, forcing out a smile. "I don't believe there's nothing, Scott. I know when you're faking a smile and when you're truly smiling," she stated. "You know me so well, Allie," I said in a voice that was barely above a whisper. "Yeah, I do. I don't want to say this, but..." she hesitated before continuing. "You used to be my boyfriend." I smiled at her words. Once I gained her family's forgiveness, being her boyfriend would be a thing of the past because I was going to marry her ASAP. "So what happened in here?" she pressed on. "Nothing much. It's just Jason being annoying," I said, leaving out the part where he had threatened to endanger her life. I didn’t want her to feel unsafe. I didn't just have a family that didn't love me, I also had a messed-up family. "You shouldn't let him get to you, Scott," she said, tapping my shoulder with a smile, though sh

(Scott's POV) For the very first time, Allison and I finally got to talk properly. I hope she understands me after explaining myself to her last night. I know my actions weren’t justified, but I hope she sees things from my point of view. Cutting ties in California was the only option I had to make it in life. I came out of my room and went downstairs. A smile surged through me when I saw Allison feeding Liam. He was ready for school. "Come on Liam, you need to eat some more," she pleaded. "I don't want to eat, Mummy," Liam shook his head. "You just ate two spoons of macaroni. How can you be full?" she pouted, making me smile. "I don't want to eat, Mummy," Liam repeated, shaking his head again. "Liam, you should eat, or your Mummy will get sad," I said, making my presence known. "Daddy!" Liam exclaimed excitedly. He jumped down from the chair and rushed toward me. I scooped him up from the ground. "Good morning, Daddy," he grinned. "How was your night?" I asked

(Allison's POV) "What happened at the hospital?" I asked Scott, offering him a glass of water. He accepted it but didn't drink much from it. He was sitting in the dining room, so I sat two chairs away from him, staring at his wet eyes. I would be lying if I said I wasn't worried about him. "What happened? Did something happen to any of your family members?" I asked. I didn't know any of his family members because Scott had been discreet about it even while we were dating. "I don't want to talk about it, Allie," he sniffled. "And you think I'd just accept it like that? You came home looking sad. You don't expect me to keep silent about it." "Where's Liam?" he asked. "He's already sleeping. But don't try to change the topic, Scott. What happened? You know me—I won't stop asking until you give me answers," I demanded, and he smiled warmly at me. "Of course, I know you, Allie. I dated you, remember? You've always been persistent," he smiled again, those dimples of his ap

(Scott's POV) "Are you alright?" I asked Peter, who wouldn't stop glancing at his phone with a sad face. "Yeah... I'm fine. Why do you ask?" he stuttered. "Your eyes have been on your phone, and it looks like you're on the brink of crying. Are you and Bonnie having misunderstandings?" I questioned again, remembering the couple of times Allison and I had a little misunderstanding during our dating era. She might have been the clingy type of girlfriend, but when it came to keeping malice, she was very good at it. So I was always the one who took the first step to apologize to her, whether I was wrong or not. "Not at all, boss. Bonnie and I are cool," he responded, returning to his phone. "You love Bonnie, right?" I asked, and he gave me a questionable look. "Why do you ask, boss?" I stared at him, recalling when I met him with a man he introduced to me as his friend. The man had kissed him, and the way they interacted didn't seem like they were just friends. It had bee

(Writer's POV) Music echoed loudly in the background as Jason partied like it was the last day of his life. He was drinking and smoking nonstop while rocking on the butts of two women who kept him entertained. He had just hosted a party and had invited his friends, who were just like him. They tended to lavish their money on women and parties since they weren't the ones who had to work hard for it. "You're the real deal, Jason Stiles!" his friends showered him with praises as he threw money into the air like he was pouring champagne. He was in his late thirties, but he still hadn't learned to think for himself because his mother always supported him, even when he was in the wrong. Reasonable men his age had already started families of their own and built businesses, but that life wasn't for Jason. He preferred wasting money on women and hosting parties. He believed that he didn't need to work since he was the eldest son of the Stiles family and the favorite son of Hugo Sti

(Allison's POV) "What! You're getting your own condo?" I asked, my eyes widening in surprise after Alex declared his decision to me. His graduation was a huge success, and he was thrilled with the surprise we gave him. Scott had attended, but Alex and Aunt Hilda didn't pay much attention to him, though they acknowledged him a little because Liam had been present. "Yes, sis. I've been planning this for a long time—to get my own condo after graduation," Alex replied. "Where did you get the money to rent a condo?" I asked again. "I had a lot of part-time jobs while I was still in school. My savings are enough to rent a small apartment." "You were working part-time behind my back? I told you to focus on school, not get a job!" I scolded. "It's all in the past now, sis. Besides, my part-time jobs didn't affect my studies. I graduated with a first-class upper, remember?" he remarked. "Even so, Alex, if I had known you were working while studying, I wouldn't have allowed it.
