Vanessa couldn't wait for the event to be over so she could go home. The room was filled with chatter, bright lights, and clinking glasses, but she just wanted to be away from it all.

She shifted from one foot to another, feeling the ache in her heels. She glanced around the room, trying to distract herself from the uncomfortable feeling that had settled in her chest.

Whoever that guy was, she didn’t like the kind of aura she was getting from him. It felt dark, heavy. like a storm brewing on a sunny day.

Her eyes darted around, till they fell on Tiffany, she was here at the award ceremony.

Did she come here to represent her parents? Vanessa thought.
