"How long do we have to wait until we can eat?" Joseph changed the subject.

"Ten more minutes," Waverly answered.

He turned around and went out of the kitchen without saying another word.

Waverly let out a sigh of relief. She quickly held onto the sink, supporting herself as she rested for a while; her legs had gone weak like jelly during their stressful exchange.

After a short rest, she continued cooking.

Ten minutes later, Waverly went out and saw Joseph sitting on the sofa with his phone in his hand, typing a message with his head down.

"It's time to eat," Waverly shouted at him.

Just then, Hayley came rushing through the door with a bottle of wine in hand. She felt a little surprised to sense that the atmosphere between them was not as negatively-charged or as tense as it was before.
