Chapter 6

Olivia was shocked when she heard the butler’s words. So what if she was the only woman that Ethan had brought home?

She was sure that there was no way Ethan would have fallen in love with her. They had not interacted with each other in the past and she has only known him for three days now, there was no way that man would be attracted to her just because she had slept with him twice.

Olivia shook her head to remove the ridiculous thoughts from her mind. She must be going insane to even think that she was someone who could attract Ethan’s attention.

Olivia looked at the beautiful dress and after thinking about it, she realized that it was not bad if she went out with the man. Maybe it might be her only chance to escape this absurd life and go somewhere else.

She went to take a quick shower and after doing everything from makeup to dressing, it was already almost evening.

The butler had said that Ethan would come to personally pick her up and just as she was wondering if the man had forgotten, she heard the sound of the engine pulling up.

That must be him. Olivia waited until she heard the voice of the servants welcoming the man, only then did she leave the bedroom unhurriedly.

She held the dress as she descended the stairs. She did not know if she would meet the man’s standards but when she felt his burning gaze on her, her face revealed a deep blush. Maybe she had passed so-so.

Ethan was looking at Olivia with an astonished gaze. Just a change of clothes and light makeup and the woman was almost unrecognizable. He swore that the current Olivia was far more beautiful than his imagination.

Olivia gracefully descended the stairs. Although she was uncomfortable under Ethan’s intense glare, she did not flinch. Looking at his handsome face, she felt that might have fallen in love with this man if they had met under normal circumstances.

Olivia was startled by her thoughts. What was going on in her stupid head? Why was she thinking about falling in love with this man? She must be strategizing how to escape.

‘Stupid heart, all you know is how to be attracted to superficial beauty.’ Olivia chided herself in her mind.

Ethan stood up and walked towards her. Olivia took a step back as she watched the man approach her. She did not know what the man was up to and she did not want to embarrass herself in front of the servants.

Ethan walked towards her and stopped a few inches away from her. His intense gaze did not stop looking at her for a second and Olivia was starting to get flustered.

“Although you already look amazing, it seems that something is lacking.” the man opened his thin lips and said.

Olivia did not know what the man was talking about so, she looked at him with a quizzical gaze.

Ethan did not say anything. He stretched out his hand and his assistant respectfully delivered something that seemed like a jewelry box to him.

He took the box and nonchalantly opened it. Inside the box were a glistening necklace and a pair of earrings. Olivia was almost blinded as she looked at the items in the jewelry box.

She has never seen a necklace so beautiful nor earrings so well made. Her breath was caught in her throat and she did not dare breathe out loud.

Ethan took the necklace and walked behind her. He placed it around her neck and helped her fasten it. At that time, Olivia’s mind had turned blank and the blush on her face had deepened. She looked even more alluring, making Ethan’s gaze darken.

Olivia could not believe that the beautiful necklace was now on her neck and that the stoic man had actually helped her wear it.

For the first time ever, she felt her heart skip a beat.

After helping her wear the necklace, Ethan proceeded to help her wear the earrings. After he was done, he looked at her with a satisfied grin.

“Now, that is better,” he said as he tousled her hair. Olivia felt as if her stomach was suddenly filled with butterflies. She felt her legs go weak and her heart could not stop beating out of control.

Her eyes were filled with stars as she looked at the man and the twinkling light in her eyes made Ethan find her completely irresistible. Without realizing what was going on, he had already leaned over and captured her lips, tasting them over and over again.

After a while, Ethan left Olivia and went to take a shower. He was on the verge of losing control and if he would have continued kissing her, things might have gone south.

In the evening, the duo reached the venue just in time. Their entrance attracted a lot of attention as everyone admired Olivia’s beauty and Ethan’s unique charm.

Olivia has never been to such an occasion so she was very nervous. She hated how Ethan was now dictating her life and she wanted nothing more than to ran away. He hated him and everything around him.

The man was clutching her hand and refusing to let go.

But seeing that a lot of people could not wait to talk to him, Olivia let go of his hand forcefully and went to stand at the quiet corner of the venue. She has only ever seen such gatherings on TV and she never imagined that she will one day be part of it.

But she did not feel like she would ever fit in. Maybe she would try and find a way of getting out of there. The man was so busy entertaining everyone that he was not paying any attention to her.

In her state of staying as low profile as she could, and as she thought of how to discreetly leave the place without the man noticing, a waiter who was passing by knocked his leg on one of the tables, before Olivia could react to what was happening, her dress was already soaked with wine.

She trembled from the sudden coldness and almost screamed out loud. Looking at how the gorgeous dress had been destroyed, Olivia felt her heartbreak.

The waiter who had spilled the wine was stunned. He quickly lowered his head and profusely apologized.

He knew that everyone who was at this gathering was important. He did not want to offend anyone for the fear that he might lose his job.

“It is okay. It was just an accident.” Olivia said as she looked at the waiter who was about to kiss the floor.

“Sorry ma’am, I did not mean to.”

“It is okay. You can go on with your work. Excuse me.” Olivia excused herself from the waiter and headed to the washroom to deal with the stain on her dress.

After trying for half a day and seeing that it looked less ugly, the woman left the washroom. She had also taken time to remove the suffocating feeling in her chest. She felt that if she had continued to stay in that room, she would have died from the stifling feeling.

Just as she exited the washroom and was about to make her way back to the banquet hall, she came face to face with a sexy lady, in fact, she was deliberately blocking her way.

“Excuse me miss, I need to use the door.” Olivia tried to sound as nice as she could. She did not understand why this woman was blocking the door. Although she was beautiful, she didn't seem to have any manners.

“So, it is just this?” The woman said in a taunting voice, making a frown appear on Olivia’s face.

The woman’s face was filled with disdain as she looked at Olivia as if she was looking at a clown.

“Who are you? What is the meaning of your words?”

“You don’t deserve to know how I am. Just know that I am Ethan’s fiancee and if you know better, you should get lost this instant.”
