Cara opened the door of her apartment and slumped down with a thud on the old worn-out couch, throwing her head back. The humiliation she faced at the restaurant took a toll on her again. Life has been unjust to her since the night she was thrown out of her home four years ago.
She had no friend or place to go as the demons of her past chased her away. A new city, unknown roads, and a heart heavy with grief wandered on the road aimlessly hoping to find a kind heart and it finally ended when she came before a car and got into an accident.
Meghan James, a twenty-four-year-old travel blogger, was drunk when she crashed into her. Cara woke up in the hospital the next morning and Meghan pleaded with her not to file a complaint.
Cara put a condition to take her in and Meghan quickly agreed. She took Cara home, and Cara did all she could to make her happy. When she was all better, Meghan asked her to get a job and help with the bills.
Now that the demons have tracked her down yet again, it was her fifth job, which she lost because of them. Cara knew Meghan would be mad at her when she got back from Paris, as she hadn’t been paying her share lately.
She was rubbing her temples when the doorbell made her jump. The living room was pitch black, and she gulped as the doorbell wouldn’t stop ringing, and then her phone started buzzing in her jeans.
She quickly took it out, only to find Sandra’s name flashing on the screen. She received the call, and Sandra blasted her ear from the other side. “Why the fuck aren’t you opening the damn door?”
“Uh. oh okay!” Cara dashed to open the door and Sandra frowned at her walking inside, throwing her sling bag on the couch, and turning to her. “Why aren’t you taking my calls? I’ve been calling you like crazy!”
“I needed some time to clear my head,” Cara answered and sat next to her on the couch.
“Have you eaten?” Sandra questioned, but before Cara could reply, the bell rang again. “Bet you haven’t!” She shook her head and headed to open the door, only to return with pizza boxes, and Cara’s stomach growled in response.
They chatted about random stuff over pizza and Sandra didn’t bring up the lady at the restaurant to make her madder. “I met someone today,” Cara said, and Sandra raised an eyebrow. “A Police Officer. He saved me from an accident.”
“Accident?” Sandra looked at her. “Are you alright?” She asked, and Cara nodded her head when Sandra shot her next question. “Was he handsome? Tell me the details, bitch!” She narrowed her eyes.
“He certainly was! Six feet, black hair, mesmerizing blue eyes....” she continued.
“Fucking angel!” Sandra cut her off and Cara laughed for the first time in the entire day.
“Indeed!” Cara smiled. “Oh, yes!” She took out the business card Keith gave to her. “He said I can get a job here.”
Sandra’s eyebrows scrunched together as she read the name of the Ascent Group and glanced up at Cara. “This is one of the top ten companies in this country!”
Cara’s mood plummeted when she realized she couldn’t work for a respected company. “What will I do now? This job was my last hope!” She said, her voice choked.
“Then go for it!” Sandra said, but Cara shook her head in denial. “Look, Cara! I don’t know what happened in your past, nor do you tell me, but you can’t let it ruin your present. You have to be strong now.”
“You don’t understand, Sandra!” Cara said. “I didn’t choose this life for me. This life has chosen me! And I can’t do anything about it!”
“Calm down!” Sandra rubbed her arm when she got a call from a friend.
“Hey, Tom! What’s up?” She smiled.
“Okay! I’m up for the night.” She answered, and her eyes shifted to Cara. “One more? Okay!” She ended the call and turned to Cara.
“I don’t know what you’re gonna do tomorrow, but I have got a job for you tonight!” Sandra grinned, staring at Cara.
“What job?”

Aries donned a bright blue jacket that perfectly contrasted with his crisp, white tailored-fit shirt. He checked himself in the mirror before he opened one of the drawers and selected one of his most expensive wristwatches from his collection.
He adjusted his sleek tie, and once satisfied with his look, he left his hotel, and the chauffeur opened the door of the backseat of the car.
“Take me to Sasha Lewis!” His tone was sharp as he dropped a message to Sasha to be ready, as he abhorred having to wait for women.
An hour later, the car screeched to a halt outside Sasha’s apartment complex and the driver opened the door of the back seat for the lady dressed in a low-cut neckline white gown that was cut to accentuate her figure. She had her hair pulled up in a stunning bun, and diamond earrings caught the light in her ears.
Sasha slid next to Aries and quickly pecked him on the cheek. “How do I look?” She asked, batting her eyelashes.
Aries takes in her appearance. “Ravishing!”

Cara stood in the line of servers, her white shirt perfectly tucked into her black skirt, which came up to her knees. Her dark blonde hair was pulled back into a neat ponytail, and she stood professionally with her hands behind her back, as she listened to the instruction of the manager.
“I expect the highest standard of service, as we’re expecting VIP visitors tonight, and there can be no room for error.” He looked them over critically, making sure they were presentable and appropriate.
“Stay attentive to the needs of the guests. If there’s any negative feedback, I’ll be sure to give you the boot right away.” He said, stopping before Cara and fixing her bow tie.
“I’ll keep a close eye on all of you. So, stay focused, and don’t make me find you sitting idle in some corner.” He spoke, and the staff responded with subtle nods of agreement. “Dismiss!”
The manager waited until the last person had left before turning to Cara and Sandra.
“Listen, girl, we hired you because one of our employees ditched us at the last minute, and Sandra believes you’re perfect for this job. If you make a single mistake, you’ll be dismissed without any sort of severance.” The manager stated firmly.
“I will do my best to meet your expectations, sir,” Cara spoke with assurance and gave a dazzling smile, yet the despair emanating from her hazel eyes was unmistakable.
“We will see!” The manager allowed them to leave.

In the limousine, Aries tried to focus on reading an important document on his phone. However, Sasha was more interested in some naughty business.
“Not now, Sasha!” He said nonchalantly, his eyes glued to his phone, but she snuggled closer, her long legs crossed, putting on a display for him.
“Why?” she whispered in his ear, and he groaned when her hand reached his crotch.
Aries met her gaze and brushed his lips against hers, and Sasha responded by deepening the kiss. Her hand played with the buckle of his belt.
Aries grabbed her wrist suddenly, cutting their kiss short. “Stop if you don’t want to be fucked like a slut in the back seat of the car.” He said, looking deep into her eyes.
“What if I want to?” She arched an eyebrow, biting her lips seductively.
“Behave!” He said sternly, and his cold eyes were just enough to stop her. The car stopped outside the hotel and he was the first to step out.
Cara, with a sincere smile on her face, went to the bar and got the drinks, bringing them to the tables draped in red velvet and making sure she was accommodating to the requests of all the guests.
Her gaze moved around the room as the banquet quickly filled up with VIPs, and for a fleeting moment, she envisioned her father entering the grand entrance with his captivating smile. The thought itself brought a genuine smile to her face that was reaching up to her hazel eyes.
Taking in a deep breath, she slowly made her way to the bar to get the other round of drinks. “Thank you,” Smiling at the barman, she lifted the tray from the counter, and as she maneuvered through the crowd. A loud commotion echoed in the air, as all eyes were directed toward the entrance.
The room filled with a loud buzz of conversation amongst the women as they discussed Aries Grayson, the renowned business magnet and the CEO of the year.
“God, he is so gorgeous!” Cara heard one of the women whispering to another. She attempted to peek between the shoulders of the tall men in front of her, but unfortunately could not get a glimpse.
Sandra showed up beside her and gave her a friendly nudge on the arm. “Cara, go there! They need drinks.” She motioned in the other direction, and Cara quickly melted away into the surrounding crowd.
Aries and Sasha, recently the couple had been the subject of much discussion, and the paparazzi had quickly gathered to take pictures of the couple.
Sasha linked her arm with Aries as they walked in through the entrance, and after a couple of shots, Aries gestured for the paparazzi to stop, and they stepped aside to let them enter the party.
Aries mingled with the investors he was attending the party for while Sasha was busy with other women. Aries tried to focus his mind on something else to distract himself from the sensation of his arousal, but the heat that she had ignited in him in the car was still going strong. He quickly outlined the reasons for his meeting with the investors and set an official date for them to meet.
Cara appeared at his table, and he took the drink from her without throwing a glance in her direction. “Thank you,” he said in his deep voice.
Cara threw a glance in his direction, but he had turned his back to her, scanning the area for Sasha, and at last, he saw her at the bar, guffawing and talking with the ladies.
Not desiring to engage in their trivial conversation, Aries fished his phone out of his trousers and sent her a text, gazing in her direction, and a wide smirk stretched across his face as he watched her extracting her phone from her clutch bag and reading his text.
She anxiously searched the crowd for him, her eyes finally settling on Aries, her face mirroring his smirk. Sasha saw him moving in another direction, and she stepped down from her high-rise bar stool to follow him.
“Thank you for this job, universe! I’m not sure what tomorrow will bring, but I’m confident that you have something amazing in store for me, and I’m eagerly anticipating the surprise.” She said in her heart.
The bartenders refilled the glasses. “Here!”
“Thank you!” She maintained her charming smile even after serving ten rounds of drink in her six inches-high heels. Every time she felt her heels killing her feet, she imagined the money she was going to get by the end of the party.
As she was about to turn, a hand groped her buttock and squeezed painfully. Cara’s face lost all color. “It’s always a pleasure meeting you!” A voice whispered in her ear.
Cara swiftly turned, leaving the tray on the counter, and came face to face with Alfred Doyle. The biggest nightmare of her life. The man dressed in a white suit was in his late forties, and his stony gaze sent a ripple of terror straight down her spine.
Cara shivered, watching an evil smirk stretching on his lips. “I didn’t expect to see you here tonight. What a surprise!” He exclaimed with a mysterious glint in his eyes. His thumb brushed the metal of her name tag, pinned to the right of her starched white shirt. “Cara,”
Cara’s mouth went dry. Cold sweat appeared on her forehead. “Oh, why are you scared of me?” Alfred grabbed a napkin from the counter and attempted to dab the sweat from her face, but she pushed him and quickly darted away, melting into the throng of people.
She just ran without giving a damn about the job, money, or anything. She used the back door through the kitchen and stepped into the dark, empty alley.
Aries puffed clouds of smoke into the air as he heard the crisp click of heels. He crushed the cigarette under his foot, and as soon as he turned, Cara bumped into him.
Everything stopped around them as Aries wrapped his strong arm around her waist. Her heartbeat picked a race, and it was loud enough for both of them to hear in the dark, silent alley.
Cara’s heart raced, her mind too overwhelmed to process what was happening. Her body felt like it had been paralyzed, and she remained in his arms without moving an inch. Aries pinned her to the wall and the air between them seemed to hum with energy.
“You shouldn’t have teased me!” He whispered in her ear. Cara knitted her eyebrows in confusion and before she could understand anything.
Aries tenderly pressed his lips to hers.
Aries grasped her waist, kissing her lips while Cara stood frozen in his arms, unable to think straight. Her mind goes blank, surrendering to the demanding kiss of the stranger. Aries had an unusual feeling. The more he tries to stop kissing and fuck her against the wall, the more he couldn’t stop kissing those soft lips that felt right against his lips. “Kiss me back!” He demanded, crashing his lips on her again and Cara felt butterflies dancing in her stomach. It was her first kiss. His masculine fragrance of wood and spices engulfed her, invading her senses, but Cara composed herself and tried to push him. “You wanna play hard, huh?” Aries smirked, sucking hard on her neck. Cara repeatedly pushed his chest, but Aries was too strong for her. He grasped her wrist and pinned them above her head. Cara’s eyes went wide as she struggled against him. “Leave....” She opened her mouth to protest, but Aries was quick to shut her up with a passionate kiss, nibbling her lips. Cara pressed h
At Grayson Group, “You’re fired!” Aries threw the file on his mahogany desk. “Collect this shit and get lost!” He growled, and the employee muttered sorry in a barely audible voice on his way out, Simon, who happened to hear their conversation on his way inside. “What’s wrong with you today? That’s the tenth employee you’ve fired!” He said while Aries took a sip of coffee. A deep frown appeared on his face. “Who made this coffee? Fire him as well!” “Are you alright?” “Yes! Why do you ask?” He glared at him, and Simon sighed, keeping the files on the desk. “These are the files you asked for,” he said, and Aries opened the first file while Simon waited, standing beside him for his instructions. Aries read the file and closed it. “I think I need a break!” He said, shifting in his seat. “Break or a good fuck?” Simon lifted an eyebrow and Aries glared at him. “You may be my friend outside these premises, but here I’m your boss. Don’t take undue advantage and shut your mouth.” He sa
“I’ll be out of the city for a few days. Love you, xoxo!” Natalie was in the back seat of the taxi, her hands roaming over the tattooed guy’s body, when her phone lit up with a text from Keith. “Love you too! Come back soon.” She texted Keith and shoved her phone back into her wallet. “Let’s go to my place!” She said and gave her address to the driver. Drunk as fuck, they reached the apartment Natalie shared with Keith. Natalie was about to turn on the lights when the guy pinned her to the door, his lips traveling down her neck. She giggled, watching him getting impatient for her, and taking his hand, she led him to the room she shared with Keith. Unknown to her, Keith was sitting on the couch in pitch dark and saw their every movement with a glass of wine. The next morning, Keith was making breakfast, and the kitchen was filled with the sound of ear-blasting music. Natalie grumbled in annoyance. “Turn off the music!” The tattooed guy sleeping next to her let out a piercing shriek
Keith drowned himself at work. It was past the time for him to get off work, but he still overloaded himself with work to forget about his cheating girlfriend. One of his colleagues and close friend, Janet, appeared and peeked inside his cabin. “Keith! What are you doing?” She asked, and his bloodshot eyes shot up at her. “Hey, what’s wrong?” She walked in. “Nothing!” He opened the next file, but she closed it. “Tell me!!” Keith sank into his chair. “I’m fucking loser, Janet!” He said, throwing his head back and closing his eyes. “She is a fucking loser. She couldn’t recognize a gem like you. Stop blaming yourself!” Janet said. “That fucking bitch needed to exit so that the right one could enter.” “I don’t think I can trust anyone from now onwards!” Keith rubbed his face and focused on the file, but Janet closed the file again. “What?” He groaned in frustration. “There is this new club in the town I’m going to. Join me!” She offered. “Who knows? You might end up finding the righ
Janet was standing by the window, lost in thought when the sound of someone clearing their throat interrupted her. As she turned, she saw a man sitting on the couch, cross-legged and reading a magazine. “What the fuck are you doing here?” Janet shrieked and Sebastian smiled, looking up at her. “I came to see you, sweetheart!” He smiled, set the book aside, and walked over to her. “I’m glad you’re fine!” He reached out to hug her, but she pushed him back. “Don’t!” Her eyes narrowed as she glared at him, causing him to take a step back and raise his hands defensively. “I deeply regret the pain you have suffered! But you know, right, that I won’t ever try to hurt intentionally?” Janet’s lips curled into a smirk. “You won’t hurt me? The man who has hurt me the most is claiming to never hurt me intentionally. You still think I’m still naïve?” “Why do you always misunderstand me?” Sebastian pressed his lips. “I don’t want to understand you, Sebastian Genovese! Get the fuck out of here
New Orleans, Grayson Group of Hotels, Aries and his colleagues, from the chairman down to the security personnel, convened at the recently built hotel in New Orleans. Every gaze was fixed on the massive wall-mounted TV screen, and they held their breath as the announcer was on the brink of declaring the Hotel of the Year winner. Aries watched the screen stoically, devoid of any emotion. “I am delighted to announce that the winner of the Hotel of the Year Award 2019 is Grayson Group of Hotels! Give them a huge round of applause,” the presenter announced on the stage. Everyone clapped as Mr. Courtney, soon to be retired, walked up to the stage to accept the award for Grayson Group. “Why did Mr. Grayson refrain from attending award ceremonies and instead send his employees?” A fresh recruit spoke in hushed tones to another staff. “His belief in his vision is unwavering, yet it is us who manifests it into reality. Sir Aries shows great respect for all diligent employees!” The other s
“We have Rob’s statement on record. He caught Cara stealing money, she hit him in the head and fled from the apartment.” The officer told Keith and the chief. “I don’t buy this story,” Janet said. “I bet she is innocent.” Keith ignored her and turned to the officer. “How is Rob related to Cara?” “Cara is his girlfriend’s friend. She was temporarily staying with them.” “And I checked her phone. Her contact list has ten people, all work-related. No family.” Janet said. “Okay, I’ve decided. Keith, she is your responsibility till the trial.” The chief said. “She is the only witness against Sebastian!” “Why me?” Keith lifted an eyebrow. “I can’t stand that girl! And who knows if she is actually a thief? We must detain her!” “No!” Janet raised her voice. “Not before we hear her side of the story.” As she spoke, an idea suddenly came to her. “Why don’t you take her home?” “What! Are you crazy?” Keith shrieked. “She is right. Your place is the safest!” The chief said. “Are you all be
Janet put on some music and headed to the kitchen to whip up a quick meal, but the sight of her pristine kitchen made her reconsider and she decided to order takeout instead. She slouched down on the couch, ordered pizza for herself, and played a romantic movie to pass the time when she heard the doorbell. Upon opening the door, she was surprised to find Sebastian holding her pizza. Janet parted her lips. She glanced around quickly before returning her attention to him. “What the fuck are you doing here?” Her question elicited a smirk from him. “I decided to have dinner with you.” He walked past inside and Janet banged the door close. “You can’t be serious!” Janet held his wrist while he grabbed wine glasses in the kitchen. “Leave or I’ll call the cops!” Sebastian scoffed. “Can you stop giving me warnings? Threatening me is a waste of your time.” He poured wine into the glasses and walked into her living room. “Fine! I’m calling the cops!” “At least have dinner with me! I know y
“Let me go!” I cried out in terror as they threw me onto the freezing floor of the dungeon, and I observed the silhouettes of five towering figures looming over me in the dim, wavering light. One of them made a call to my father, Connor Blair. The closest ally and confidant of Anton Genovese, the most feared Mafia King of New York City. “If you’re willing to see Janet again, just do as I say!” The sound of their menacing voices on the phone call sent a shiver down my spine. “Let’s see who you choose between your precious daughter and loyalty to Anton Genovese.” He finished the call and glared at me with murderous eyes. Despite the threat of harm, my father remained loyal to the Genovese family and made the decision that left me to face the consequences of their anger alone. Realizing that I was now worthless to them, they resolved to present me as a gift to the Russian mafia to enhance their alliance in their struggle against Genovese. They handed me over to a group of Russian arme
One year later, ~Veronica~ Today, for reasons I cannot fathom, my mind wandered back to the words Jasper spoke to me years ago. ‘Cara, the savior in a difficult situation, isn’t always the hero. The world we live in is not always kind, and not everyone you trust is virtuous. How come you are so gullible?’ As I reminisced about the past, I couldn’t help but let out a chuckle, realizing how naïve I was back then. Or perhaps now I am wise enough to decipher the true meaning behind his words. As I take a stroll down memory lane, I am reminded of the angels that entered my life at just the right moment to rescue me. I would have died that night if it weren’t for Megan Morgan taking me in. Sandra consistently had my back and ensured I never went to bed hungry. Keith, who made me feel special even for a brief amount of time, and left behind all the differences between us in the past, I respect him for that. He made me experience love for a small amount of time and I am thankful for all th
Gianna’s white halter dress fluttered in the wind as she paced outside her apartment, her heart racing with anticipation. Glancing at her wristwatch, she groaned, realizing that Keith was already twenty minutes late and her stomach grumbled with hunger. “I better go back inside and grab a bite,” she thought to herself and turned to head back into the apartment complex, letting out a sigh. However, a black range rover pulled up next to her, causing her to roll her eyes. She crossed her arms over her chest and fixated her gaze on the car door. Keith stepped out in a neatly tucked white shirt and black pants, spiking his hair to perfection. But it wasn’t him who caught her attention. Elijah made quite the entrance as he stepped out of the car, looking dapper in his black suit and carrying a bouquet of red roses that were almost as tall as he was. “Dad, help me!” Elijah struggled to hold them, and Keith sighed, bending down to take them from him. Elijah breathed a sigh of relief and fl
Gianna glanced at her watch when she heard Elijah sitting next to her in the car. “You shouldn’t have disturbed Dad. He is always busy with work. He doesn’t like anyone interrupting him.” Keith’s attitude agitated Gianna. “If he refuses to support his son, how will my therapies be successful? I’m a doctor, not a magician!” As soon as the ten minutes were up, she gritted her teeth in frustration. “It would be wise for me to withdraw from this case.” She contemplated as Keith got into the car. “Hi!” he smiled and then his eyes moved to Elijah. “Why did you go to see the doctor alone? Why didn't you call me?” “I didn’t want to disturb you,” Elijah lowered his head. As Keith opened his mouth again, he caught Gianna's eye, and she gestured for him to take a deep breath and speak calmly. Keith followed her and put his hand on Elijah’s head. “Eli, are you upset with me?” “No,” he didn’t meet his eyes. Keith's internal conflict had been brewing, and he finally decided to confront the iss
Aries pushed the plate of cookies forward. “Here,” “What do you mean?” Veronica lifted an eyebrow. A puzzled expression crossed Aries’s face. “Do you think I am cheating on you?” A look of hurt crossed her face and Aries could see tears swimming in her eyes. “Aries, I go to Keith’s place to spend some time with Elijah. Since you weren’t here, it’s hard for you to comprehend the special bond that Elijah and I share. I don’t want him to hold any grudges against Chase because I am too busy to give him the attention. It has nothing to do with Keith. I find him occupied with work in his office whenever I’m at his place. It’s just that today…...” Aries grabbed a cookie and stuffed it into her mouth. “Hold your horses, sweetheart!” He placed his hands on either side of her and locked his gaze with hers. “When did I say you’re cheating on me?” He lifted an eyebrow. “You’re still so stupid!” He playfully smacked her forehead and let out a chuckle. She takes the cookie out of her mouth. “I
Elijah stood beside Veronica outside the principal’s office, absentmindedly tracing circles around her wedding ring with his thumb. “I’m sorry Veronica. I’ll never do this again.” She heard him say and looked down at him. “Sweetie, you are always so calm and patient. What went wrong?” Veronica ran her fingers through his hair. “He said bad words about Mom.” Elijah lowered his head, wrapping his arms around her waist. “Everyone in school thinks you’re my mom because I told them you’re marrying my dad!” He answered “They saw your wedding pictures on the internet and mocked me. They said I deserved to be motherless and I’ll always be miserable. Am I miserable, Veronica?” His sad eyes met hers as he looked up. “Of course not! Did you know your mom loved you the most?” She caressed his face. “And I love you. So much!” She planted kisses on his cheeks. “We all love you, baby!” The sound of heels clicking in the empty hallway caught their attention, and their eyes shifted to the woman in
“Baby Shark, doo-doo, doo-doo… Baby Shark, doo-doo, doo-doo… Baby Shark…” Chase stole a glimpse at his father, who let out a frustrated groan after listening to the same song repeatedly. Chase’s face lit up with a wide smile while munching on another fruit snack, and he redirected his focus to the screen. “Mommy Shark, doo-doo, doo-doo… Mommy Shark…” “Fuck, I can’t take this anymore!” Agitated, he got out of bed and began pacing the room. “Stop playing this song or I’ll turn into a shark!” His glare made Chase twitch his mouth. “Go to sleep!” “No,” Chase shook his head. “Daddy Shark, doo-doo, doo-doo… Daddy Shark, doo-doo, doo-doo… Daddy Shark…” “Daddy Shark!” With a loud exclamation, Chase raised both hands into the air and began swaying his body to the tune. Veronica couldn’t help but stifle a laugh as she watched the father-son duo. “You’re really enjoying yourself, aren’t you?” Aries gazed at Veronica with eyes full of accusation. The baby shark song looped again in the back
[MATURE SCENE AHEAD] ~Veronica~ As I rolled down the window, I couldn’t help but gaze out at the roads, trees, cars, and buildings speeding past me, just like the faint memories of my past life that seemed to fade away with each passing moment. It was all on a loop again. Cynthia and Alfred beating me up and kicked me out in the dead of the night. Encountering Keith and finding a short-lived sense of comfort. Meeting the captivating grey eyes right amidst shattering glasses. Aries saved me from the crossfire, risking his life. Keith’s rejection. Losing my baby. The club Flames of Sizzling Desires and the night Aries claimed me. “I have a question!” Keith’s voice seized my attention, causing me to face him next to me. “The news of your wedding left Elijah feeling very melancholic. He thinks you’ll stop visiting him.” He chuckled. “And he awakened some questions in me that I’d like to know from your stance!” His eyes settled on my face and I wondered what was in his mind. “Look, d
“Why isn’t she picking up the damn calls?” Aries let out a frustrated sigh. “Are you sure she went to meet Cynthia?” His gaze shifted towards Isla. “I don’t think she would dare go to her. But it’s habitual for her to switch off her phone whenever she’s doing something that’s prohibited.” She pursed her lips in contemplation. “No, she won’t go to her ever! I should go and check.” She turned on her heels. “You’re not going anywhere!” They heard Liam’s firm voice. “The last time you visited her, you experienced a severe bout of depression.” Aries’s eyes moved to Isla. “But I’ve recovered! I don’t have any such issue. In fact, I don’t need medicines ever since Chase stepped into our life.” Her eyes briefly shifted to Chase in Aries’s grasp before settling on Liam. “I must check. It’s my mother who made Veronica’s life hell.” “The answer is still a firm no! I don’t want you anywhere near that evil woman. All she does is ruin people’s lives.” He finished his drink and made his way out
