Chapter 63 An Idea

On their way home, Lucas and Evelyn were silent throughout the drive. Their thoughts were all over the place for different things.

Evelyn was wallowing in self loathe as she felt responsible for her sister's properties that Olivia had almost destroyed.

Why was she so useless? She couldn't even bring herself to protect anything that belonged to her. It was devastating to think about and no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't forgive herself or let go of the feeling.

“That's my sister's house,” she said once they walked in through the front door. “We used to go there a lot for holiday to just get away from Diana and Olivia. It was our only means for escape.”

“How could she… how could she try to destroy it? Jessica did nothing wrong to her when she was alive. She did nothing at all to those two, why do they hate us so much?”

Lucas hugged her, holding her close to his chest as she sobbed in his arms. All the questions he wanted to ask were suddenly unimportant for now.

Why didn't Lucas think of that? That would be the simplest thing to do, but I'd make them give him a lot of their shares of the company, too.
