The room fell silent, and all eyes turned to Kaitlyn. Melissa’s smile faded instantly as she gave Kaitlyn a dangerous look.

“Do I have a bid for one hundred and fifty thousand?” the auctioneer repeated, looking between Melissa and Kaitlyn.

Melissa hesitated, clearly taken aback by Kaitlyn’s bold move. She hadn’t expected Kaitlyn to challenge her so directly, especially in such a public place. The tension in the room was evidence as everyone waited to see what would happen next.

Kaitlyn maintained her composure, her expression calm and confident. She knew she had the upper hand now. Estefan’s wealth afforded her the ability to outbid Melissa without a second thought, but more than that, this was about proving to Melissa that she wasn’t the naïve woman she used to be.

After a moment of silence, the auctioneer began to call for a higher bid. “Do I have one hundred and seventy-five thousand?”
