CHAPTER 6
"Over there," Sarah mentioned, moving back with a content nod. "You are prepared to go and pursue your billionaire playboy." I let out a nervous laugh, running my hands gently over the smooth cotton shirt she had assisted in choosing. "Take it easy. I have no idea what this even is, to be honest." Sarah gave me a sharp glance. "Young woman, I beg of you. That guy was ogling you from the other side of the club. He obviously desires to devour you next." "Perhaps he is simply a harmless eccentric who delights in gathering intriguing individuals." Before Sarah had a chance to reply, a loud car horn honked outside. Both of us looked at the windows and I was amazed to see the shiny luxury car parked outside my humble apartment building. Sarah dryly remarked that she believes that is your mode of transportation. "Shall we?" “I still wonder how he knows where I live.” She linked her arm with mine and practically pulled me out before I could hesitate and change my mind, “Leave that for now.” I permitted myself to be guided outside towards the impressive car, where a well-dressed man in a suit and hat was standing, holding the back door. "Hello, Miss," he greeted me courteously with a small nod of his head. I am here representing Mr. Salvatore to accompany you to his penthouse suite. "Um, yeah...hey," I responded weakly, still shocked by the excessive show. The driver quickly glanced at Sarah with a questioning look in his eyes. "Ah, I am simply the friend sending her away," Sarah chimed in happily. "Pay no attention to me!" With a smile on his face, the driver nodded and motioned for me to step into the comfortable interior of the fancy car. I glanced back at Sarah with uncertainty before she urged me to continue, her expression showing she was enjoying playing the matchmaker. My thoughts were suddenly stopped when the car started to decrease in speed before going through a detailed wrought-iron entrance with the label "Le Castillon" carved on it. My heart began to race rapidly in my chest. The vehicle came to a halt in the circular driveway and the driver quickly opened my door. I stepped out into the cool evening air, my legs trembling. Estefan was at that location. Anticipating my arrival. Simply considering it triggered a new surge of anxious butterflies. "Excuse me? Please follow me," the driver said next to me. I reacted with a small jump of shock before swiftly nodding, letting him guide me towards the entrance. We walked through the intricately designed wooden doors and entered a lobby that left me breathless. As the driver drove me over, a plump woman with stylishly arranged grey hair came closer. "Good evening and thank you for coming to Le Castillon," she smoothly welcomed me. "Do I understand correctly that you are Mr. Salvatore's guest for the evening?" "Uh...um, y-yes," I stuttered, feeling strangely out of place in my plain jeans and shirt amidst all this elegant splendor. "Kaitlyn. My name is Kaitlyn." If the woman noticed my evident poverty, she did not show any sign of it. Her pleasant smile and refined attitude remained constant. "Delightful, Miss Kaitlyn, we have been anticipating your presence," She said as she motioned towards one of the luxuriously padded sofas. "Kindly relax briefly as we prepare for your escort to Mr. Salvatore's personal residence." Did she have to be so polite? I cocked a brow. I followed her advice and clumsily sat on a luxurious velvet sofa that likely had a value higher than that of most cars. I continued to look around at the elaborate marble and wood details, feeling out of place. What possible desire could Estefan Salvatore have for someone as ordinary and unassuming as myself? Right on time, another employee came up; a tall, well-built man in a suit with an earpiece, giving off an air of strength and authority as if he could be protecting a high-ranking official. "Hello Miss Kaitlyn, how are you this evening?" He told me in a quick, professional manner that he was Romano and would be accompanying me to the penthouse suite. "Could you please come with me?" I quickly stood up, running my hands over my shirt nervously while taking quick steps behind his strong, determined walk. We walked through the shiny lobby to a quiet group of elevators, where Romano used a keycard to call one of the exclusive ride. During the tense and silent ride up, the strong man stood perfectly still in a military stance, while my heart raced with increasing fear in my chest. What on earth was I getting involved in? Prior to talking myself out of the surreal situation, the elevator smoothly came to a stop and the fancy vestibule area's brass doors opened. Romano got off first, signaling me with a look to do the same. I took a deep breath before approaching the entrance with shaky footsteps. He was the one. Salvatore. Dressed in an impeccably fitted gray suit that highlighted his impressive tallness and strong physique. His bedroom eyes gleamed with clear enjoyment and male admiration as they surveyed me in a manner that almost crossed the line. "We meet again, sweetheart," he said in his irresistibly accented voice that stirred something inside of me. “I've been anticipating this all day.”Chapter 7Nervousness took hold of me, preventing me from forming any words when I tried to respond. What surprises or plans did this enigmatic, influential man have in store for me at this moment?Estefan appeared to detect my fear and laughed deeply before moving towards me with stalking, predatory strides. Romano saw this as his signal to leave, leaving only the two of us in the vast penthouse space."Please, come over. Feel at home," the billionaire graciously offered with a sophisticated…I took a seat on the comfy chair he pointed to, and saw a man approach from behind him, delivering a document to Estefan. He accepted it without saying anything, sipping his drink again while looking through the documents.Kaitlyn Prime's, parents have passed away. Chapter 8The abnormality of my decision is hitting me hard, and it’s really becoming a burden on my conscience. I just made a decision to get married, I just handed in my signature, and already, I’m second-guessing myself. My mind is filled with thoughts of conflicts. Have I done the right thing by accepting his offer? I know there is no turning back now; I had signed the contract, altering my fate. I sighed heavily and took a deep breath, trying to pull myself together, and remind myself why I was here.“You don’t seem sure about this.” Estefan voice jerked me out of my thoughts, I looked up to find him watching me intently, can’t say how long he’s been staring at me or why he said that. He doesn’t look too curious but he looks skeptical about me, He might think I’m backing out.“I am” I replied softly, the words sounded hollow to even my own ears making me unsure of myself, maybe he could doubt that but I want to make him know that I mean business too and nothing is getting in my w
Chapter 9For a moment, He looked like he was going to say something more, he hesitated then simply nodded, I’m not sure if I could ask what he wanted to say, maybe he doesn’t trust me yet but I also don’t trust him. “We won’t make an announcement immediately.” He added. “I still need to confirm something’s.”I wonder what it could be but I let it out. Maybe one day, things will be different, and everything will be okay or not, it might even get worse. I can’t just comprehend that but I know am trapped somehow.Estefan called in a well-dressed lady, her appearance pristine and professional. Her name is Sophia, and she is introduced to me as the nanny. Though I found it odd, I realized quickly that her role extended beyond childcare; she was a caretaker of the entire household, including me, it seemed."Mrs. Salvatore," Sophia began, her voice smooth and calm, "shall we start the tou
Chapter 10After I accepted Estefan's proposal, the days that followed were filled with a flurry of emotions and preparations. Sarah was a ball of energy who guided me into this unfamiliar world I was about to embark on. Without any delay, Estefan's staff scheduled fittings, meetings, and even a crash course on public speaking and etiquette. The official contract signing day soon arrived. Surrounded by legal professionals and assistants, I found myself in a modern and elegant conference room at Estefan's corporate headquarters. With a confident and composed demeanor, Estefan took the lead at the table. "Are you ready?" he inquired, his intense gaze meeting mine in a way that both scared and encouraged me. I took a big breath and nodded. "Ready."Estefan's attorney helped me understand every word in the confusing legal terms by taking me through each part. The contract was extensive, addressing every conceivable situation and guaranteeing my and Estefan's protection. We made it t
CHAPTER 11The days that followed the contract signing were filled with new experiences and full of activities. Estefan lived in a huge and complicated world with lots of influential people, where every choice made counts. I soon realized that in order to keep up, I would have to adjust and learn things up fast. Estefan invited me into his office one morning. I was excited and nervous at the same time as I walked inside the magnificent room. Estefan was seated behind his gigantic desk, staring at a stack of papers that were in front of him."Kaitlyn," he nodded to greet me. "I hope you’re settling in well." "Yes, I am," I said, sitting down across from him. "I am grateful for all of your help. Although it's been overwhelming, I'm getting by."Good," he responded in a tone that conveyed satisfaction. Today, we will take things a step further. I want you to accompany me to an important business meeting. I felt my heart skip a beat. "A business meeting? What do I have to do? He simpl
CHAPTER 11The days following the journal revelation were filled with a whirlwind of new experiences and challenges. Estefan’s world was more intricate and demanding than I had ever imagined, and I was determined to navigate it successfully.Estefan has been engaging me in a lot of activities that would help me familiarize myself with this new life of mine, and I am grateful for that. One evening, I was with Estefan in the sitting room when he received an unexpected phone call. His expression darkened as he listened to the voice on the other end, his fingers drumming against the polished surface of his desk. I sat across from him, my curiosity roused.“Yes, I’ll be there,” he finally said, ending the call abruptly. He looked at me, his eyes unreadable. “We need to attend a family gathering tonight. My brother, Adrian, will be there.”I had heard mentions of Adrian before, always with a mix of respect and caution. The tension between the two brothers was palpable, though I don’t know t
Chapter 13Kaitlyn was glad she had some space to herself aside from the luxury at Estefan world. She sat at her kitchen table, sipping her morning coffee, the reality of the decision she had made begun to sink in.She had committed herself to a long time contract marriage with Estefan Salvatore, a man she was just getting to know, to seek revenge and escape the pain of her past. It was indeed a brave move from herself. Kaitlyn thought to herself. Her phone buzzed, breaking her thoughts. It was Sarah.“Hey, Kaitlyn. How are you holding up with your new life?” Sarah’s voice was filled with concern.Kaitlyn sighed. “I’m okay, I guess. There is a lot to do and process.”“Do you want to meet up? We can go shopping or grab lunch. It might help take your mind off things.”“Actually, that sounds great. I could use a distraction,” Kaitlyn admitted. They agreed to meet at their favorite café downtown. As Kaitlyn got ready, she couldn’t help but feel a mix of excitement and anxiety. She hadn’t
Kaitlyn's nerves were still on edge from the dinner with Estefan's parents the night before. The tension in the Salvatore household had been palpable, and she couldn't shake the feeling that she was being tested, scrutinized with every word she spoke and every move she made.As she sat at the vanity in her apartment, brushing her hair, her mind wandered back to the previous evening. Isabella's probing questions, Robert's intense gaze, and the subtle yet unmistakable tension between father and son; it was all flowing in her mind like a storm she couldn’t escape.Today, however, was different. Estefan had mentioned something about introducing her to a few more family traditions, things she needed to understand before the marriage could proceed. But the details had been vague, and that made her uneasy. What more could she need to know?A knock on the door interrupted her thoughts. Kaitlyn turned to see Sarah entering the room with a smile, a welcome distraction from her flow of thoughts.
