Ivy’s POV

The sun was warm on my skin, the gentle breeze carrying the scent of flowers as I lay on the soft blanket, my head resting on Asher’s thigh. We were together on a private beach that Asher had rented because he wanted to be with me.

His fingers brushed a strand of hair from my face, and I looked up at him, my heart swelling at the love and adoration in his deep brown eyes. He held a grape between his fingers, dangling it above my lips with a playful smirk.

“Open up,” he teased, his voice low and warm. There was a tinge of amusement in his voice.

I giggled, reaching for the grape, but he pulled it just out of reach. “Asher,” I whined, pretending to pout. “You’re being mean.”

“Mean?” He raised an eyebrow, feigning innocence. “I’m feeding you grapes. Isn’t that what doting husbands do?”

“Doting husbands don’t tease,” I shot back, though my smile betrayed me. I opened my mouth again, and this time he let me take the grape, his fingers brushing my lips as I did. I chewed slowly, s

Asher’s POVI leaned back in my chair, a smirk playing on my lips as I watched Luca and Janine whisper to each other. I shook my head, swirling the wine in my glass. “You two are disgustingly cute, you know that?”Janine shot me a glare. “Weren’t you the one who was absolutely disgusted with the idea of me being with your best friend?”I feigned a gagging motion. “I still am. The sight of you two makes my stomach churn.”Luca smirked, leaning closer to Janine. “And you haven’t even heard the half of what we do yet, and you’re already disgusted?”Janine chuckled as my expression darkened. I grabbed my wine glass and downed it in one gulp, my face contorting. “I don’t need details. Ever.”I reached for the wine bottle to pour myself another glass, hesitating for a moment as a memory surfaced. My lips curled into a soft smile. “Ivy’s Wine.” I could almost hear her laughter in my office the day we named it together.“Uh-oh,” Luca said, snapping me back to reality. He and Janine were both

Asher’s POVI hopped into my car, slamming the door shut behind me. My phone was still pressed to my ear, my knuckles white from gripping it so tightly. “What do you want with my wife?” I yelled, my voice cracking under the weight of my anger. “Is it money? Name your price! Do you want shares? Inside information? Hell, take the whole company! Just give me back my wife!”My mind was racing, guilt and anger twisting together in my chest. This was all because of me. My rivals in business, my mistakes, they’d dragged Ivy into this mess. She didn’t deserve this. She didn’t deserve any of it.“Oh, shut up!” Taylor’s voice snapped through the phone, sharp and clear, no voice concealer this time.I froze, my breath catching in my throat. For a moment, I couldn’t speak, couldn’t react. I knew Taylor was capable of vile things, she’d drugged me, manipulated me, created those false images to ruin my life, but this? This was something else entirely.“Shut up, Asher,” she repeated, her tone drippi

Asher’s POVThe streetlights blurred past as I sped down the road, my grip on the steering wheel so tight it ached, my knuckles turning white as my grip hardened. My mind was a raging storm, nothing made sense in this moment. My vision was blurry, my heart hammered in my chest, deafening my ears. Taylor’s annoying voice replayed in my mind over and over again.“Choose, Asher. Your love for Ivy or her life.”I stepped on the brakes so hard, narrowly missing the oncoming car in the other lane. The sirens blaring in the distance meant nothing to me, not in this moment. The way she had said it, like it was a joke, like she was just toying with me, made my stomach twist. I could still hear the amusement in her voice, that sickening, high-pitched tone that let me know she was enjoying this. This wasn’t just a threat; it was a game to her, a game she enjoyed playing. But to me, it was Ivy’s life.I swallowed hard, my throat dry. There was no winning with Taylor. If I told her no, she would k

Asher’s POVMarcus’s mouth hung open. “You were drugged, Asher? How... why didn’t you tell me?”I shot him a glare. He exhaled. “I’m your older brother, Asher. All of this happened, and I needed to know.”“It’s my problem. I would have handled it!” I snapped.“Clearly, you couldn’t,” he replied.“Marcus! Asher!” Janine interjected, raising her hands. “Ivy has been kidnapped!” She spelled it out. “That’s the priority! You can have the argument about your sour relationship and whose fault it is later.”Marcus sighed, rubbing his temple. “Alright, we need a plan. Fast. You need to speak to Taylor.”I nodded in agreement. “But Taylor is smart. She has to believe I really want her, or she’ll see right through it. And we can’t involve the police. That process would take too long, and Ivy...” I couldn’t even finish the thought. We all stood there for a moment, the air thick with tension as we tried to think of a way out of this nightmare. Then my phone rang, cutting through the silence sharp

Janine’s POVI sat with my phone in my hand, my thumb repeatedly pressing the screen as I scrolled through my contacts, hoping someone, anyone, might know something about Taylor. Each dial tone felt like a ticking clock, growing louder and louder as the seconds dragged on.I could hear Asher pacing back and forth behind me, his voice pleading into the phone as he called Taylor again, but she wasn’t answering. He was sending voicemails to her line. At some point, he tried to call Ivy, but her line was switched off.“Come on, come on,” I muttered under my breath, willing someone to pick up. The frustration was thick in the air, hanging between Luca and me as we both dialed and redialed numbers. Luca was quiet, but I could tell by the way his jaw was clenched that he was just as anxious as I was.“Nothing,” I said, hanging up the phone again. “No one knows anything. She’s vanished off the radar.”Luca glanced at me, exhaling sharply. “This is useless. No one’s seen her, no one knows anyt

Marcus POVI sat alone in the suite in my office. It had become my own bedroom, as I spent most of my time here. The silence was almost suffocating. It felt too quiet, almost as if the entire world had paused around me.My fingers drummed nervously against the edge of my bed. My mind kept returning to the nightclub, to the moment I saw Taylor. Her eyes had locked onto mine, cold, calculating, as if she knew everything about me in an instant. I always thought she was audacious to walk up to me, but I didn’t give it much thought. And the men she was hanging around with... they didn’t just look dangerous; they were dangerous men. Most of them were linked with the mafia.I leaned back in the chair, rubbing my hand over my face. The tension in my chest was unbearable. This wasn’t just about a woman with a silly crush on my brother. This was bigger. This was darker. And, most importantly, it involved my little brother, Asher.Normally, I’d take my time to strategize, to think things through

A few hours ago...Ivy’s POVI glanced around the large hotel room, and the peach dress I was to wear was laid out on the bed. It was a beautiful fabric with sparkles that shimmered in the dark.I caressed the soft material, and a small smile tugged at the corner of my lips. Asher had bought the dress for me.The night he bought it, he had given me flowers, whispered sweet words in my ear, and made love to me like it was our last night together. Oh, and he had made promises!I giggled to myself. Today was date night. He called it “new beginnings.” We had been through so much together, and he wanted us to start afresh, put all the ugly episodes behind us. I wanted that more than anything else.Max and Taylor were glued to my mind, and it didn’t help that they were nowhere to be found. I had been worried sick about them, but tonight, I was going to forget everything else, well, except Asher. The plan was simple: we were going on a double date, like a new couple. He would come from home,

Don povI leaned back in my chair, swirling the whiskey in my glass as I listened to the man across from me finalize the details. The cigar smoke in my office hung thick, curling into the dim light above us.“We move the shipment next week,” he said, his tone confident but cautious. “Colombian grade, through the usual ports. Our distributors in Miami are ready, and we’ve secured a clean route.”I nodded, but didn’t speak yet. Business was more than just logistics, it was about control. Anticipation. Knowing when to push forward and when to pull back.“And the Feds?” I finally asked.“Taken care of.” He smirked, adjusting the gold cufflink on his sleeve. “A few key figures got their incentives.”Good. The last thing I needed was unnecessary heat. This deal would expand my reach, increase my influence. But the bigger the deal, the bigger the risk.I took a slow sip of whiskey, letting the burn settle in my throat before setting the glass down. “We move forward. My men will oversee the t

Isabella’s POVThe newsroom was finally quiet. After wrapping up my evening show, most of the crew had cleared out, leaving me alone in my office. The glow from my computer screen illuminated the small space, reflecting off the framed awards on the shelf behind me.I exhaled, stretching my arms above my head, savoring the rare moment of peace. Then my phone rang.I glanced at the caller ID and froze. Asher Sterling. My heart did a small, stupid flip before I could tell it to calm down. It had been years since high school, and even though he was married now, I had never stopped caring about him.I hesitated for only a second before picking up.“Well, well, well,” I said, leaning back in my chair. “To what do I owe the honor, Mr. Sterling?”“Isabella,” he said, his voice tight. No pleasantries, no playful banter. He was in trouble. My expression sobered. “What happened?”“You’ve seen the news.”I had. Sterling Industries, the mafia, human trafficking. It was a mess. And now, hearing his

Asher’s POVI sat behind my desk, my fingers tapping restlessly against the polished wood surface. The board members had just left, their concerned voices still ringing in my ears.I had assured them I would find a solution, but the truth was, I didn’t have the slightest idea where to begin. How did I end up in this fucking mess? I thought bitterly.I leaned back in my chair, rubbing a hand down my face. There were too many moving pieces, too many variables beyond my control. Should I respond with actual proof of their shady dealings? That could backfire. Exposing them might bring the whole house of cards down on me too. Maybe I should talk to the Don, but would that really solve anything? If anything, it might make things worse. My thoughts were interrupted by a knock at the door. I exhaled sharply and straightened. “Come in.”Evelyn stepped inside, her expression unreadable. “Asher, the FBI is here to see you.”My body tensed. Federal authorities had a way of making people say thing

Asher’s POVThe morning sun cast a soft glow through the curtains as I adjusted my cufflinks, my movements slow and deliberate.Ivy stood behind me, smoothing out the creases in my shirt with gentle hands. Her touch was warm, grounding me in a way I desperately needed.“You look good,” she murmured, stepping in front of me to fix my tie. Her fingers brushed against my skin as she adjusted the knot, lingering just a second longer than necessary. “Strong. In control.”I exhaled through my nose. “I wish I felt that way.”She placed her palm flat against my chest, right over my heartbeat. “You are that way. No matter how overwhelming things get, you always find a way.”I looked down at her, at the quiet confidence in her eyes. “I wish the board saw it that way. They’re circling like vultures, waiting for me to slip so they can tear me apart. Investors are already wary because of our affiliations with the mafia, and now I had to cut ties just to give them a reason to stay.”She nodded, her

Asher’s POVI sat in my office, staring out at the city skyline, my thoughts a chaotic mess. The disaster at the last meeting wouldn’t leave my mind. The company board did not have faith in me.Some investors had walked out, disgusted by the company’s ties to the mafia. I had tried to salvage the situation, offering reassurances, but their expressions had been unreadable, their minds already made up.I needed to act fast. If I didn’t, I would lose the majority of our investors, and the company would crumble. That wasn’t an option. The company was our legacy; the sacrifices made were too much to let everything fall apart because of one reckless decision. The only way forward was to sever ties with the mafia completely. My jaw tightened as I reached for the intercom. “Evelyn, get in here.”The door opened a moment later, and Evelyn stepped inside. She was as composed as ever, dressed in her usual tailored suit, tablet in hand, waiting for my orders.“Yes, Mr. Sterling?” she asked, her v

Asher’s POVThe office felt heavier than usual, as if the walls themselves were pressing in, waiting for me to crack under the pressure of everything I was trying to carry. The morning light filtered through the large windows, casting long shadows across the polished desk, Marcus’s desk.No matter how many days I sat here, no matter how many times I adjusted the chair or placed my hands on the smooth wood, it still didn’t feel like mine.A sharp knock at the door pulled me from my thoughts.“Come in,” I said, straightening my tie.The door creaked open, and Marcus’s secretary, Evelyn, stepped inside. She looked polished as always, her expression calm and professional, but there was something behind her eyes, hesitation, maybe even doubt.“Mr. Sterling,” she said, her voice level, “the board meeting starts in two minutes. We need to leave now.”I exhaled slowly, nodding as I grabbed the file I had barely skimmed through. Two minutes. I had two minutes before I’d be sitting in a room fu

Asher’s POVIt had been three weeks, and Marcus was still in a coma.Three weeks of sitting by his bedside, hoping for a sign, any sign, that he was coming back to us.I had spent most of my time at the hospital, sometimes with Ivy or Janine, but mostly alone. The doctors gave the same updates every day, their words rehearsed, their voices carefully measured: No change. Stable but unresponsive. We just have to wait.Wait.Like that was something I could do.I didn’t know how to exist outside of this hospital room anymore. My world had shrunk to this space, to the steady hum of machines, the sterile scent of antiseptic, and the unbearable sight of my brother lying still in that bed. But today, I had no choice but to leave.I was about to step out of the house when my father’s voice stopped me.“Asher,” he said, his tone softer than usual. “We need to talk.”I turned to face him. He looked exhausted, more worn down than I had ever seen him.The dark circles under his eyes, the way his s

Asher’s POVThe hospital room was unnervingly quiet, with the only other noise coming from the occasional rustle of fabric as I shifted in my chair and the soft beeping of the heart monitor.Yet, beneath the silence, there was an unshakable tension that made Marcus’s fragile state feel even more real, like he was on the edge of something irreversible, something permanent. It was the only sound breaking the silence, yet somehow, it was deafening. Each measured beep was like a countdown, marking the agonizing passage of time since the accident. Four days.Four days of waiting, of watching, of hoping for something, anything, to change.Four days since my world had come to a screeching halt.Ivy had been discharged, and I should have felt relieved. I should have been grateful that at least she was safe, that she had walked away from this with her life intact. But I couldn’t feel anything close to relief. Then a gruff voice responded, “How many are we talking?”“All of them.”The words left my mouth without hesitation. I didn’t care what it cost. I didn’t care what lines I had to cross. My brothers were walking straight into hell, and I wasn’t about to sit back and pray they came out alive. They left without thinking it through.Marcus was smart, but sometimes even he let emotions cloud his judgment. Asher? He wasn’t thinking at all. He was too desperate, too reckless.I knew they weren’t ready for what they were stepping into, but they didn’t wait. Asher’s POVGunfire erupted the moment I stormed into the building with Luca and Marcus. The scent of gunpowder and blood filled the air, mixing with the sharp cries of men dropping to the floor. My heart pounded, but I barely registered the chaos. My mind had only one thought: Ivy.I scanned the dimly lit warehouse frantically, my pulse hammering in my ears. My grip tightened around my gun as I pushed forward, ducking behind a stack of crates. Then, through the haze of bullets and bodies, I saw her.Ivy.She stood near the back of the room, bound and struggling, her dark hair wild, her face pale. My breath caught in my throat. She was right there. So close. But she wasn’t alone. Taylor stood in front of her, a knife gleaming in her grip.Panic crashed through me. I turned to Luca and Marcus. “Be careful! Ivy’s right there!”Luca gave a sharp nod, his jaw clenched as he took cover and fired precisely at Taylor’s men.
