Max’s POV

Flashback cont’d

I drove into the parking lot of the hotel just behind Taylor. I jumped out of the car and rushed towards her. "Taylor! You’ve got to give me a fucking explanation. I just drove a high man in his own car after abducting him from the club to a hotel—we are going to get arrested!"

She got out of my car and slammed the door. "If you keep yelling at the top of your voice, the police are going to come in earlier, and the arrest is going to happen quicker than you think!"

My heart was beating faster in my chest. She had a point. I had to calm down. There could be CCTV. I glanced around nervously and looked away the moment I caught a glimpse of one, subtly hidden away from view. I took a deep breath.

"If you want me to act calmly about this, you’ve got to give me an explanation that makes sense at least," I told her in a controlled voice. "What did you do to him?"

"I slipped something into his drink," she answered simply. She walked up to Asher’s car and opened the

Max’s POVFlashback cont’dI didn’t respond. What could I say? That my replacement and Ivy’s husband was hot? I didn’t care; I would smother him in his sleep if I could get away with no consequences. She got closer and tugged at his shorts, the last piece of clothing he had on. “Oh, and he’s packing too!” She hummed in satisfaction and bit her lower lip. “I see what Ivy likes about him now, really.”I frowned. “What are you doing, Taylor?” I was still confused about what she planned to do. Nothing made sense; nothing had made any sense since she called me earlier. She didn’t answer right away. Instead, she pulled a phone from her pocket. My phone and tossed it to me. “Take pictures.”I stared at her in confusion at first, wondering how she had gotten a hold of my phone in the first place. My brows furrowed in confusion. “What?”“You heard me, Max. You’re going to take pictures—"“Why?” I interjected. “Are we going to blackmail Asher with nudes of him? Really, what’s that going to get

Damn, I missed when you called me that.”I shut my eyes and let out a frustrated grunt. “Am I ever going to hear the end of it?” I asked. She looked like she was thinking about it for a moment, then shook her head. “No, no, I’m not,” she said with a big grin.“I guess it is my fault...” I said with a sigh. She chuckled.I signaled the waiter, who rushed to our table immediately. “Take the lady’s order.”The waiter tipped his head at her. “What would you have, miss?”“A rosé, please,” she answered. When he was out of earshot, she turned to me. “Is it okay for you to be here... with me?”“There’s no one around, and the staff here have a confidentiality agreement not to leak pictures or information about my whereabouts,” I explained. “I figured it was best to meet here. The club is—” I shrugged. I was sick of it ever since that night. “I couldn’t meet you at my office

I tried to stop her but...” I was holding the telephone to my ear, and when I looked up, I saw Janine at the entrance.I sighed. “Don’t worry, Stacy. The erratic guest barging through protocols is my baby sister, Janine,” I said it out loud so she could hear. She was fuming when she marched in, noiselessly pulled out a chair, and sat on it.“Oh, my God! Mr. Sterling, I’m so sorry—”“There’s nothing to be sorry for, Stacy. You were doing your job. Thank you very much,” I said, ending the call.“Jay, what’s the problem?” I asked. She was visibly fuming. Her arms were folded across her chest, and her mouth was set in a pout. She didn’t respond.I sighed. Of course, that was how it always was with her. She always needed to be petted and liked attention. I got to my feet, went to her, crouched low in front of her, and smoothed her hair away from her face. “What is it, baby sister? Who hurt you? Ivy’s POV.I let out a huge sigh as I walked through the doors. Every day at work was exhausting. It was hard to believe that once; I used to love working. It was all because of Taylor; she had this energy that sucked the life out of a place - or a person. I had turned a blind eye to it until we broke apart.I was so deep in thought that I didn’t notice someone was in the dining area until I heard voices. I retraced my steps and peered in, my brows furrowing as I stared at them.It took them a while to notice me. They were so engrossed in their conversation that I was visibly fuming, arms folded across my chest, until Asher spared me a glance.Another time, I would have loved how his eyes lit up when he saw me, but not today. Not today, when he was at dinner chatting with the blonde girl. Kat. That was her name. The same girl whose pictures had been plastered all over his snap.“I didn’t see you come in, love…”I bit the inner corner of my mouth, trying not to focus on the fact that h

Ivy's povAsher rose to his feet, a wide smile on his face. “Shall we?” he asked, grabbing a bottle of wine and popping it open.Kat cheered, batting her eyelashes at him like he’d done something extraordinary - other than just opening a wine bottle. At this point, she was outright fawning over him.I couldn’t keep the disdain from my face when he poured her a glass first. I gulped down my own wine every single time he handed her an item from the table first. The rational part of me understood it was because she was closer to him, but the fiercer part - the part that was insanely jealous wanted to lunge at her.The silence that stretched between us was awkward. I guessed they were holding back because I was at the table. You’d think that would have been my cue to leave - there was no need to make everyone uncomfortable - but I didn’t.Asher refilled my glass as soon as I set it down on the table.“You two were old friends, I see.” If no one else was going to invite conversation, then

It hurt to pretend, even though all I wanted to do was pull her into a warm hug. “I think we messed it up, Kat. I don’t think it worked...”“I told you it was a dumb idea in the first place,” she said with a sigh. “I shouldn’t have agreed to it.”I clutched the phone tightly to my ear. “She looked hurt. I think we might have laid it on too thick. I don’t think our relationship can ever recover from this...” I raked my fingers through my hair, which was already sticking out at odd angles.“Her walking in on us wasn’t the plan in the first place. We were supposed to get pictures of us in your house, post them like we did before, and leave. She wasn’t—”“Yes, of course, I know. Ivy’s POVMy eyelids fluttered open as I woke up with my head pounding like a drum, the sunlight streaming through the curtains far too bright for my comfort. My throat was dry, and my body felt heavy as I shifted under the covers. A groan escaped me as small pieces of memories from the night before began to seep into my consciousness.Oh no. Oh no, no, no.I sat up quickly, too quickly, clutching my head as the room tilted for a moment. Flashes of me... dancing. No, not just dancing. Stripping. For him. My husband.I buried my face in my hands, heat flooding my cheeks. Why didn’t he stop me? I could remember his teasing grin as he sat on the sofa. He enjoyed every bit of it. I saw it in his eyes, that unbridled look of desire that urged me on until I was giggling and bold enough to pull off something I’d never dared before. She was wearing the hottest silver dress, paired with matching shoes that made her legs look endless. Her hair and makeup were perfectly done, making her look like a supermodel. She lightly shoved him aside. “Move away, ogre. I’m here to see my sister.”Asher raised an eyebrow. “Oh, you two are close like that?”I chuckled at his expression.“Yes, we are. Are you jealous?” she asked, scooting closer to me on the bed. “Ivy, you need to get out of bed. We need to go out. Now.”“What?” His eyes flew open. “No way! My wife and I were having such a cute moment together.”It was true. The day after my wild strip show for Asher, I had to endure his teasing all day, but the days that followed drew us closer. The scent of gunpowder and blood filled the air, mixing with the sharp cries of men dropping to the floor. My heart pounded, but I barely registered the chaos. My mind had only one thought: Ivy.I scanned the dimly lit warehouse frantically, my pulse hammering in my ears. My grip tightened around my gun as I pushed forward, ducking behind a stack of crates. Then, through the haze of bullets and bodies, I saw her.Ivy.She stood near the back of the room, bound and struggling, her dark hair wild, her face pale. I turned to Luca and Marcus. “Be careful! Ivy’s right there!”Luca gave a sharp nod, his jaw clenched as he took cover and fired precisely at Taylor’s men. Ivy’s POVThe room was dim, the air thick with a musty scent that clung to the damp walls. My wrists ached from the tight restraints, the rope digging into my skin, leaving behind raw, irritated flesh. My legs were stiff, my muscles screaming from hours, maybe days, of captivity. I had lost track of time in this miserable excuse for a prison. Then, the sound of approaching footsteps echoed down the hallway, steady and deliberate. My breath hitched. I knew who it was before she even stepped into the room.Taylor.She waltzed in, her expression smug, her eyes gleaming with amusement as she took in the sight of me, bound and helpless. She leaned against the doorframe, tilting her head.“Well, well,” she drawled. “You look like hell.”I said nothing. She clicked her tongue, disappointed by my silence. “Oh, come on, don’t tell me you’ve given up already.” She stepped closer, her voice dropping to a whisper. “Asher isn’t coming for you, sweetheart. AsherThe air in the room was thick, weighed down by the chilling silence. I sat on the edge of the couch, my elbows resting on my knees, my head buried in my hands. My thoughts were still all over the place; I couldn’t think straight.I let out a slow breath, but it did nothing to ease the tightness in my chest. My fingers curled into my hair, gripping it as if I could pull myself out of the drowning thoughts in my head. I raked my fingers through the thick mess of hair on my head.I hadn’t slept much, not that sleep could ever be an escape. Closing my eyes only made the thoughts louder; I only heard her voice in my head. Ivy’s, crying, begging...I dragged a hand down my face, forcing myself to sit up, to shake off the crippling thoughts clinging to me. But they stayed. They always did.Ivy was out there. Somewhere. Alone. Terrified. Maybe worse. And Taylor, she was in charge. She had made that pretty clear. No amount of begging would be enough, nothing would be enough to touch her

Don povI leaned back in my chair, swirling the whiskey in my glass as I listened to the man across from me finalize the details. The cigar smoke in my office hung thick, curling into the dim light above us.“We move the shipment next week,” he said, his tone confident but cautious. “Colombian grade, through the usual ports. Our distributors in Miami are ready, and we’ve secured a clean route.”I nodded, but didn’t speak yet. Business was more than just logistics, it was about control. Anticipation. Knowing when to push forward and when to pull back.“And the Feds?” I finally asked.“Taken care of.” He smirked, adjusting the gold cufflink on his sleeve. “A few key figures got their incentives.”Good. The last thing I needed was unnecessary heat. This deal would expand my reach, increase my influence. But the bigger the deal, the bigger the risk.I took a slow sip of whiskey, letting the burn settle in my throat before setting the glass down. “We move forward. My men will oversee the t

  • Billionaire's Bounty: Cost Of Love And Revenge   A few hours ago...

A few hours ago...Ivy’s POVI glanced around the large hotel room, and the peach dress I was to wear was laid out on the bed. It was a beautiful fabric with sparkles that shimmered in the dark.I caressed the soft material, and a small smile tugged at the corner of my lips. Asher had bought the dress for me.The night he bought it, he had given me flowers, whispered sweet words in my ear, and made love to me like it was our last night together. Oh, and he had made promises!I giggled to myself. Today was date night. He called it “new beginnings.” We had been through so much together, and he wanted us to start afresh, put all the ugly episodes behind us. I wanted that more than anything else.Max and Taylor were glued to my mind, and it didn’t help that they were nowhere to be found. I had been worried sick about them, but tonight, I was going to forget everything else, well, except Asher. The plan was simple: we were going on a double date, like a new couple. He would come from home,

Marcus POVI sat alone in the suite in my office. It had become my own bedroom, as I spent most of my time here. The silence was almost suffocating. It felt too quiet, almost as if the entire world had paused around me.My fingers drummed nervously against the edge of my bed. My mind kept returning to the nightclub, to the moment I saw Taylor. Her eyes had locked onto mine, cold, calculating, as if she knew everything about me in an instant. I always thought she was audacious to walk up to me, but I didn’t give it much thought. And the men she was hanging around with... they didn’t just look dangerous; they were dangerous men. Most of them were linked with the mafia.I leaned back in the chair, rubbing my hand over my face. The tension in my chest was unbearable. This wasn’t just about a woman with a silly crush on my brother. This was bigger. This was darker. And, most importantly, it involved my little brother, Asher.Normally, I’d take my time to strategize, to think things through

Each dial tone felt like a ticking clock, growing louder and louder as the seconds dragged on.I could hear Asher pacing back and forth behind me, his voice pleading into the phone as he called Taylor again, but she wasn’t answering. He was sending voicemails to her line. At some point, he tried to call Ivy, but her line was switched off.“Come on, come on,” I muttered under my breath, willing someone to pick up. The frustration was thick in the air, hanging between Luca and me as we both dialed and redialed numbers. Luca was quiet, but I could tell by the way his jaw was clenched that he was just as anxious as I was.“Nothing,” I said, hanging up the phone again. “No one knows anything. Asher!” Janine interjected, raising her hands. “Ivy has been kidnapped!” She spelled it out. “That’s the priority! You can have the argument about your sour relationship and whose fault it is later.”Marcus sighed, rubbing his temple. “Alright, we need a plan. Fast. You need to speak to Taylor.”I nodded in agreement. “But Taylor is smart. She has to believe I really want her, or she’ll see right through it. And we can’t involve the police. That process would take too long, and Ivy...” I couldn’t even finish the thought. We all stood there for a moment, the air thick with tension as we tried to think of a way out of this nightmare.
