Ivy’s POV

I was at the foot of the stairs when I heard the doorbell ring. Camila was rushing to get it, but I stopped her. “Don’t worry, Camila. I got it.”

“Thank you, Miss Ivy.”

I smiled at her. I got to the door after the third ring. I peeked through the peephole; there was a lady with her back to the door. I opened it. “Hello…”

She turned around sharply, her long dark curly hair moving with her. Curious brown eyes openly checked me out as she bit into an apple in her hand. She had a lot of suitcases around her. She looked so familiar; the wheels in my head were still turning when she spoke up.

“You look so much better in person... and that’s not to say you don’t look good in your pictures,” she rambled on. “You slay as well, but in person…” She kissed her fingers, making kissing noises. “Just perfect!”

I broke into a wide smile. The dark hair and brown eyes should have been a giveaway; she looked like a female version of Asher. Their eyes were a darker shade of brown, like honey, u

Asher’s POVWhen I walked into the house, I spotted Ivy and Janine sitting on the high stools, deep in conversation. Ivy’s laugh caught my attention first - warm, light. She tossed her head back, pushing her long blonde hair over her shoulder, and I felt that familiar pull, the one that hadn’t faded since the day I met her. It had grown stronger with each passing day.Janine was the first to see me. It had been two years since I last saw her in person. Of course, she had sent pictures, but none did her justice. She looked different, more mature. I guess living alone on a different continent away from everyone in your family would do that to you. She smiled at me, “Hello, Ogre…”I chuckled, “You know, that doesn’t bother me anymore because we have the same face…”“Asher…”There was something about the way my name rolled off Ivy’s tongue that sent shivers all over my body. I didn’t know what captured me at that moment. Maybe it was the conversation I had just had with Luca, where I conf

Ivy’s POV“Ivy,” my manager called out sweetly as soon as I walked into the studio.“Good morning, Miss Chappell,” I responded and pulled off my headphones. (Please confirm that her manager doesn’t have a different name before.)“Good morning, love.” She grabbed my hand. “We need to talk,” she said in a small voice.I noticed the worried look on her face and how she wouldn’t even look me in the eye. Panic set in instantly. “Did something happen?” I asked. She tugged at my hand and pulled me aside. “Come with me.”I followed her quietly down the hallway until we made it to her office. She shut the door after me and peered at me.“What happened?” I asked again. My mind was already conjuring up different unpleasant scenarios.“I was going to call or leave you a text when I found out, but I figured it would be better for you to hear it in person, and from no other person but—”“Oh my God! Did someone die?” I cut in impatiently. She shook her head strongly. “God, no! No one did.”“Spill it

Taylor’s POVThe smell of smoke drifted around me as I took a long drag, the tip of my cigarette flaring red. Ivy. Even her name made my skin crawl. Just thinking about her prancing around like some kind of perfect princess made my blood boil. She didn’t deserve to be there, in my place, with the life that I deserved. I let the smoke roll over my tongue before I blew it out, letting it spiral into the air. And here I was, shuffling off to Max’s dumpy place. Maybe she was right after all. I coveted everything she had, even if it was her terrible ex-boyfriend.Max’s place was a far cry from what I was used to, with his stack of dirty dishes in the corner and the constant stale smell of alcohol that clung to the air. It looked like he hadn’t done a thing to clean since the last time I was here. Not that I’d complain. I had too much on my mind already. Max didn’t waste any time as he shut the door behind me, his eyes flickering over my face. He must’ve seen the rage practically radiating

Asher’s POVI looked into the mirror as Ivy adjusted my tie, her fingers brushing against my collar. She had this focused, gentle touch, and her lips were pulled into a serious pout. I could barely look at her—her perfume filled the air between us, making it hard to think.“You know,” she said, giving my tie a final pat, “you actually clean up really well.” She smiled at me, and I felt that familiar warmth building in my chest.“If dressing up like this is what it takes to get a compliment from you, I’ll do it every single day,” I declared. She stifled a blush. “It doesn’t have to take so much,” her voice was barely above a whisper.A smirk tugged at my lips. Was Ivy flirting with me? Was it just the magic of the night, or were her defenses slowly stripping away? I caressed her cheek and stared as she leaned into my touch, her eyelids fluttering shut. A small gasp escaped her lips.I slipped my hand around her waist. “You’re going to make it hard for me to let go of you, Ivy…” I glanc

Ivy’s POV.I giggled at something Asher said. My hand was resting on the crook of his elbow as we walked back to our hotel room. The energy between us felt different tonight, and it wasn’t because of the alcohol. I had purposely stayed off it; I didn’t want to be the desperate person I used to be when I was drunk and around him. It was embarrassing how much my body desired him when my senses got dulled. It wasn’t like I didn’t desire him. Even now, as I listened to him and stole glances at him, as our bodies slightly touched, I did - in a way that I hadn’t desired any man before. But I could control it and pretend I wasn’t feeling anything. I could ignore all the sparks that went off whenever we touched.“Janine was the worst of us, I tell you…” he was saying as he punched a couple of keys on the elevator panel. As we walked in, the guards that had followed us at a safe distance tried to enter, but he stopped them. He glanced at me and then back at them.“I need some time alone with m

Ivy’s POVMy core throbbed as he whispered in my ears. I could feel the wetness in my panties. My whole body had been tightly wound up; it had been so long since I felt pleasure. Without the alcohol, my body still felt the aching need for his touch, the need that made me desperate. I wanted to tear off all our clothes until our bodies were naked and touching, and I could feel his cock inside of me, filling me up.He leaned back on the bed so he could gawk at me, slowly taking in everything.“Look at me,” he whispered in a deep voice when I tried to look away.I did as he asked and looked into those beautiful eyes. Those eyes that spoke volumes long before he opened his mouth and uttered the words, “I want to worship you, Ivy...”Jolts of pleasure traveled all over my body, desire washing over me. Asher’s POVI walked through the VIP room, flanked by three mean-looking bodyguards. They were tall and muscular, dressed in all black with dark sunglasses. I scanned the area, looking for Luca. It wasn’t hard to find him, as the club wasn’t full that day, with not many people showing up on a Sunday night.I walked up to him. “Luca.”He was nursing a drink and spun around. “Goddamnit, Asher! What are you doing here?”I pulled out a stool and sat across from him. “What do people do at clubs, Luca? I’m here to chill and drink...” I gestured to the bartender. “The regular, please.”The bartender nodded and began to fix my drink. Luca glanced at the hefty men standing behind me. “You don’t look like you’re here to chill at all. You brought the bodyguards in?”I nodded. “There’s no way in hell I’m coming to your club without security. Someone’s got to watch my back while you’re doing whatever the hell it is you do... When I was with Ivy, she had no problem handling that...”“Oh, no! That’s not gonna be me, honey. That kind of foolishness is Ivy’s forte, not mine,” she replied. “If you really want us to continue meeting, you’ve got to do better about our meeting place. That is, if you still want to win her over.”“Well, I don’t know how I’m supposed to win her over if you won’t use the one weapon we have against them!” I yelled. “They are getting closer. You saw them at that fashion show? How did it feel watching them together? Ivy’s POVThe room was dim, the air thick with a musty scent that clung to the damp walls. My wrists ached from the tight restraints, the rope digging into my skin, leaving behind raw, irritated flesh. My legs were stiff, my muscles screaming from hours, maybe days, of captivity. I had lost track of time in this miserable excuse for a prison. Then, the sound of approaching footsteps echoed down the hallway, steady and deliberate. My breath hitched. I knew who it was before she even stepped into the room.Taylor.She waltzed in, her expression smug, her eyes gleaming with amusement as she took in the sight of me, bound and helpless. AsherThe air in the room was thick, weighed down by the chilling silence. I sat on the edge of the couch, my elbows resting on my knees, my head buried in my hands. My thoughts were still all over the place; I couldn’t think straight.I let out a slow breath, but it did nothing to ease the tightness in my chest. My fingers curled into my hair, gripping it as if I could pull myself out of the drowning thoughts in my head. I raked my fingers through the thick mess of hair on my head.I hadn’t slept much, not that sleep could ever be an escape. Closing my eyes only made the thoughts louder; I only heard her voice in my head. Ivy’s, crying, begging...I dragged a hand down my face, forcing myself to sit up, to shake off the crippling thoughts clinging to me. But they stayed. They always did.Ivy was out there. Somewhere. Our distributors in Miami are ready, and we’ve secured a clean route.”I nodded, but didn’t speak yet. Business was more than just logistics, it was about control. Anticipation. Knowing when to push forward and when to pull back.“And the Feds?” I finally asked.“Taken care of.” He smirked, adjusting the gold cufflink on his sleeve. “A few key figures got their incentives.”Good. The last thing I needed was unnecessary heat. This deal would expand my reach, increase my influence. But the bigger the deal, the bigger the risk.I took a slow sip of whiskey, letting the burn settle in my throat before setting the glass down. “We move forward. My men will oversee the t

A few hours ago...Ivy’s POVI glanced around the large hotel room, and the peach dress I was to wear was laid out on the bed. It was a beautiful fabric with sparkles that shimmered in the dark.I caressed the soft material, and a small smile tugged at the corner of my lips. Asher had bought the dress for me.The night he bought it, he had given me flowers, whispered sweet words in my ear, and made love to me like it was our last night together. Oh, and he had made promises!I giggled to myself. Today was date night. He called it “new beginnings.” We had been through so much together, and he wanted us to start afresh, put all the ugly episodes behind us. I wanted that more than anything else.Max and Taylor were glued to my mind, and it didn’t help that they were nowhere to be found. I had been worried sick about them, but tonight, I was going to forget everything else, well, except Asher. The plan was simple: we were going on a double date, like a new couple. He would come from home,

Marcus POVI sat alone in the suite in my office. It had become my own bedroom, as I spent most of my time here. The silence was almost suffocating. It felt too quiet, almost as if the entire world had paused around me.My fingers drummed nervously against the edge of my bed. My mind kept returning to the nightclub, to the moment I saw Taylor. Her eyes had locked onto mine, cold, calculating, as if she knew everything about me in an instant. I always thought she was audacious to walk up to me, but I didn’t give it much thought. And the men she was hanging around with... they didn’t just look dangerous; they were dangerous men. Most of them were linked with the mafia.I leaned back in the chair, rubbing my hand over my face. The tension in my chest was unbearable. And, most importantly, it involved my little brother, Asher.Normally, I’d take my time to strategize, to think things through

He was sending voicemails to her line. At some point, he tried to call Ivy, but her line was switched off.“Come on, come on,” I muttered under my breath, willing someone to pick up. The frustration was thick in the air, hanging between Luca and me as we both dialed and redialed numbers. Luca was quiet, but I could tell by the way his jaw was clenched that he was just as anxious as I was.“Nothing,” I said, hanging up the phone again. “No one knows anything. You can have the argument about your sour relationship and whose fault it is later.”Marcus sighed, rubbing his temple. “Alright, we need a plan. Fast. You need to speak to Taylor.”I nodded in agreement. “But Taylor is smart. She has to believe I really want her, or she’ll see right through it. And we can’t involve the police. That process would take too long, and Ivy...” I couldn’t even finish the thought. We all stood there for a moment, the air thick with tension as we tried to think of a way out of this nightmare.
