Asher’s POV

I opened the doors and walked out. Luca stepped out of his sports car, dressed in a flamboyant suit and shades.

“What’s with the agent look?” I asked jokingly.

He laughed and walked up to me, embracing me. Luca had been my friend for as long as I could remember. We were practically brothers at this point.

“Hey man, what’s good?” I asked as soon as we pulled away.

“I’m alright, bro.”

“How was your flight?”

“It was exhausting, but it was worth it because I scored this really hot girl’s number, and we’re meeting tomorrow night.”

I shook my head. “And I see you never change, my friend.”

“It was a business trip, so now I’m back for the pleasure. All work and no play, remember?”

“I hear you, brother.” I chuckled as we walked towards the house.

“So what are you doing here, anyway? Isn’t this supposed to be the house you live in when you eventually get a girl pregnant because you actually have to marry her?” Luca laughed at the top of his voice.

“Well, my friend, I believe we have

Ivy’s POV.I ran my fingers through the tangled mess of hair on my head as I descended the stairs. I was wearing a black crop top and beige wide-legged pants. I stood at the entrance of the dining area where my parents were already seated, and servants dressed in formal black and white attire hurried in and out, laying the table.I watched them silently for a moment. My father, a tall man with a lanky build and curly dark hair, was dressed in a flowery shirt and casual slacks. His eyes, a lighter shade of blue, were fixated on my mother with an excited glint. She was all he saw.“So I called my stylist, and I told her, ‘there’s no way you’re delaying my appointment. I have plans fixed, and I’ll be leaving the country soon...’”Oh. They had yet another trip, one they hadn’t told me about. I wondered what it was for. Probably nothing important. In all the years I’d known my parents, one thing I learned is they never needed a reason to do anything. They were always impulsive. I’d wake up

Asher’s POVI hated this part of the job—the never-ending meetings, the long, boring conversations, having to sit still around the conference table and pretend to pay rapt attention to whatever my brother was saying. I had to, however. It was part of my job. One of the reasons I envied Marcus was that he seemed to fit right into this place. The perfect son, the perfect CEO.“From the analysis, Sterling Industries is set to experience a 15% increase in profit next month…”I drowned out his ear-scratching voice, but I couldn’t deny that everyone else seemed to like it. My father sat at the head of the table, his face stoic. His silver hair was styled to perfection, not a single strand out of place. His intense eyes were fixated on the projector screen, and all the shareholders and foreign investors were focused on whatever Marcus was saying. He was good at it; that was the truth I had always known. Being the second child was a lot harder when the first was so perfect. It was as if there

Asher’s POVI walked into the empty diner. When my mom sent me an invitation for dinner earlier, I knew instantly that something was up. It was uncharacteristic of us to hang out alone together. I had an idea of what she wanted to speak about already. It wasn’t hard to spot her. Besides the fact that the diner was practically empty, surely on my mother’s orders, she was the only person who showed up at a fancy diner wearing a business suit, her hair tied back and put in a bun, making her look serious. She was tapping on her phone when I approached her. “Mom,”She looked up at me with those dull brown eyes. “Asher?” she managed a small smile.Over the years, I learned quickly that this was the most affection I’d get from my mother. It was hard to come to terms with it because, unlike my father, her stoicism felt forced. Like she was playing a character, I could always see the struggle in her eyes, her holding back, but maybe it was all in my head, and I was overthinking it. Maybe. As a

Ivy’s POVI woke up that morning and let out an exasperated groan. I remembered the shoot I had planned for the day and sighed in frustration. I didn’t want to go. I didn’t want to confront Taylor, not yet, at least. I sorted through my morning routine quickly and headed downstairs in a robe.I walked up to a table laden with all kinds of foods and drinks, with Asher sitting there, legs crossed. He smiled warmly at me as soon as I walked in.“I would have brought breakfast in bed, but I didn’t know how to manage,” he said, gesturing towards the breakfast buffet laid out on the table. My mouth watered instantly, and I smiled appreciatively at him.“You really didn’t have to,” I told him.“You were down yesterday. I was only trying to make you feel better,” he replied.I clutched tightly to my robe as I sat across from him. His watchful eyes followed my every move. I watched him lift a large glass to his lips. How did he make drinking look so erotic? Who was I kidding? Everything about t

Asher’s POVI kept stealing glances at the door where she had walked through, waiting to see her walk out again. The team had been extra friendly because I was sitting comfortably with a front-row view of the shoot area, a fine bottle of unopened champagne in front of me. My jaw dropped when she emerged. Her outfit was a beautiful nude dress that stopped mid-thigh, making her legs look even longer.Assistants rushed back and forth, adjusting the lighting, fixing props, and setting up the stage. She glanced at me and smiled. It was the most beautiful sight, making me feel warm inside. When she approached me, I stood up and closed the distance between us. “You look beautiful,” I blurted out as soon as she got closer. She smiled in response and tucked her hair behind her ear. “Taylor is trying to get me to talk to her...”“Would you like me to do something about her?” I asked. “Say, kick her out of the shoot, for instance?”She gave me a funny look.I clutched my chest. “I’m really serio

  • Dumped the Scumbag, Now I'm Married to a Billionaire   Heartbreak in the Spotlight

Ivy’s POVAsher had been the sweetest. It was hard to reconcile him with the same guy who teased me all the time in the past. I was too chicken to face Taylor, but on his insistence, I had gone to the shoot. Having him around made me feel a lot better. I didn’t have the crippling dread inside me as I walked into the studio. His corny remarks made me focus on something other than the anger I felt for Taylor.I wanted to go on a long rant. I wanted to charge at her and scream down the studio. It was hard enough dealing with my heartbreak alone, having no one around to talk to. The last thing I needed was my heartbreak becoming the next trendy news in the media. I couldn’t even tell my parents—I didn’t need strangers dissecting my life and picking me apart. That was why I stayed quiet, why I avoided Taylor all day, and why I pretended not to hear her call out to me several times. He made it even easier. I loved the way his eyes searched for me at every point, like we were old lovers. The

Asher’s POV“Are you okay, man?” Luca asked for the umpteenth time that week. We were in my living room.I turned to glare at him. “What do you think?” I turned back to stare at my reflection in the mirror. My hair was sticking out oddly because I had run my fingers through it repeatedly. I was sporting stubble on my chin and jawline, and my eyes looked sunken, like I hadn’t slept in days—which wasn’t far from the truth.“You look like shit, and I’m genuinely worried,” he said.I exhaled. “Luca, I told you I was fine. You didn’t have to stop by.”He eyed me. “Yeah, of course. There’s absolutely no reason to be worried about you right now.” He ran his fingers through his hair. “I mean, can’t you just call her? She’s your wife, isn’t she? And you definitely miss her.”Damn right I did. After our last argument, Ivy had gone home, and I hadn’t heard from her in two weeks. She didn’t come back to our house either. I was hoping she would, considering she had her things here. She didn’t resp

Ivy’s POV“What do you know about the Sterlings?” my mother asked suddenly. We were sitting around the large dining table.I exhaled and glanced at the door nervously, checking my watch for the umpteenth time. I was a nervous wreck, and rightfully so. I hadn’t seen Asher in weeks, and I was about to introduce our families at our home.“Aside from the fact that they own a huge company? Nothing,” my dad answered. He turned to look at me. “Usually, this part of the introduction happens before my daughter gets married to their son.”My mother gripped his hand to stop him.I let out a huge sigh. “Dad, we’re already married.”“And I’m still pissed about it!” he blurted out.I tucked my hair behind my ears. I had sent Asher a long email describing my parents, hoping he had read it and prepared for this. I needed this evening to go well. So much between us already wasn’t, but this had to.You’d think I would have called off the wedding—it was a joke, after all—but no. For reasons I couldn’t f

Isabella’s POVThe newsroom was finally quiet. After wrapping up my evening show, most of the crew had cleared out, leaving me alone in my office. The glow from my computer screen illuminated the small space, reflecting off the framed awards on the shelf behind me.I exhaled, stretching my arms above my head, savoring the rare moment of peace. Then my phone rang.I glanced at the caller ID and froze. Asher Sterling. My heart did a small, stupid flip before I could tell it to calm down. It had been years since high school, and even though he was married now, I had never stopped caring about him.I hesitated for only a second before picking up.“Well, well, well,” I said, leaning back in my chair. “To what do I owe the honor, Mr. Sterling?”“Isabella,” he said, his voice tight. No pleasantries, no playful banter. He was in trouble. My expression sobered. “What happened?”“You’ve seen the news.”I had. Sterling Industries, the mafia, human trafficking. It was a mess. And now, hearing his

Asher’s POVI sat behind my desk, my fingers tapping restlessly against the polished wood surface. The board members had just left, their concerned voices still ringing in my ears.I had assured them I would find a solution, but the truth was, I didn’t have the slightest idea where to begin. How did I end up in this fucking mess? I thought bitterly.I leaned back in my chair, rubbing a hand down my face. There were too many moving pieces, too many variables beyond my control. Should I respond with actual proof of their shady dealings? That could backfire. Exposing them might bring the whole house of cards down on me too. Maybe I should talk to the Don, but would that really solve anything? If anything, it might make things worse. My thoughts were interrupted by a knock at the door. I exhaled sharply and straightened. “Come in.”Evelyn stepped inside, her expression unreadable. “Asher, the FBI is here to see you.”My body tensed. Federal authorities had a way of making people say thing

Asher’s POVThe morning sun cast a soft glow through the curtains as I adjusted my cufflinks, my movements slow and deliberate.Ivy stood behind me, smoothing out the creases in my shirt with gentle hands. Her touch was warm, grounding me in a way I desperately needed.“You look good,” she murmured, stepping in front of me to fix my tie. Her fingers brushed against my skin as she adjusted the knot, lingering just a second longer than necessary. “Strong. In control.”I exhaled through my nose. “I wish I felt that way.”She placed her palm flat against my chest, right over my heartbeat. “You are that way. No matter how overwhelming things get, you always find a way.”I looked down at her, at the quiet confidence in her eyes. “I wish the board saw it that way. They’re circling like vultures, waiting for me to slip so they can tear me apart. Investors are already wary because of our affiliations with the mafia, and now I had to cut ties just to give them a reason to stay.”She nodded, her

Asher’s POVI sat in my office, staring out at the city skyline, my thoughts a chaotic mess. The disaster at the last meeting wouldn’t leave my mind. The company board did not have faith in me.Some investors had walked out, disgusted by the company’s ties to the mafia. I had tried to salvage the situation, offering reassurances, but their expressions had been unreadable, their minds already made up.I needed to act fast. If I didn’t, I would lose the majority of our investors, and the company would crumble. That wasn’t an option. The company was our legacy; the sacrifices made were too much to let everything fall apart because of one reckless decision. The only way forward was to sever ties with the mafia completely. My jaw tightened as I reached for the intercom. “Evelyn, get in here.”The door opened a moment later, and Evelyn stepped inside. She was as composed as ever, dressed in her usual tailored suit, tablet in hand, waiting for my orders.“Yes, Mr. Sterling?” she asked, her v

Asher’s POVThe office felt heavier than usual, as if the walls themselves were pressing in, waiting for me to crack under the pressure of everything I was trying to carry. The morning light filtered through the large windows, casting long shadows across the polished desk, Marcus’s desk.No matter how many days I sat here, no matter how many times I adjusted the chair or placed my hands on the smooth wood, it still didn’t feel like mine.A sharp knock at the door pulled me from my thoughts.“Come in,” I said, straightening my tie.The door creaked open, and Marcus’s secretary, Evelyn, stepped inside. She looked polished as always, her expression calm and professional, but there was something behind her eyes, hesitation, maybe even doubt.“Mr. Sterling,” she said, her voice level, “the board meeting starts in two minutes. We need to leave now.”I exhaled slowly, nodding as I grabbed the file I had barely skimmed through. Two minutes. I had two minutes before I’d be sitting in a room fu

  • Dumped the Scumbag, Now I'm Married to a Billionaire   Coma

Asher’s POVIt had been three weeks, and Marcus was still in a coma.Three weeks of sitting by his bedside, hoping for a sign, any sign, that he was coming back to us.I had spent most of my time at the hospital, sometimes with Ivy or Janine, but mostly alone. The doctors gave the same updates every day, their words rehearsed, their voices carefully measured: No change. Stable but unresponsive. We just have to wait.Wait.Like that was something I could do.I didn’t know how to exist outside of this hospital room anymore. My world had shrunk to this space, to the steady hum of machines, the sterile scent of antiseptic, and the unbearable sight of my brother lying still in that bed. But today, I had no choice but to leave.I was about to step out of the house when my father’s voice stopped me.“Asher,” he said, his tone softer than usual. “We need to talk.”I turned to face him. He looked exhausted, more worn down than I had ever seen him.The dark circles under his eyes, the way his s

  • Dumped the Scumbag, Now I'm Married to a Billionaire   Please wake up

Asher’s POVThe hospital room was unnervingly quiet, with the only other noise coming from the occasional rustle of fabric as I shifted in my chair and the soft beeping of the heart monitor.Yet, beneath the silence, there was an unshakable tension that made Marcus’s fragile state feel even more real, like he was on the edge of something irreversible, something permanent. It was the only sound breaking the silence, yet somehow, it was deafening. Each measured beep was like a countdown, marking the agonizing passage of time since the accident. Four days.Four days of waiting, of watching, of hoping for something, anything, to change.Four days since my world had come to a screeching halt.Ivy had been discharged, and I should have felt relieved. I should have been grateful that at least she was safe, that she had walked away from this with her life intact. But I couldn’t feel anything close to relief. Not when Marcus was still here, trapped in a lifeless state, hooked up to wires and m

Then a gruff voice responded, “How many are we talking?”“All of them.”The words left my mouth without hesitation. I didn’t care what it cost. I didn’t care what lines I had to cross. My brothers were walking straight into hell, and I wasn’t about to sit back and pray they came out alive. They left without thinking it through.Marcus was smart, but sometimes even he let emotions cloud his judgment. Asher? He wasn’t thinking at all. He was too desperate, too reckless.I knew they weren’t ready for what they were stepping into, but they didn’t wait. Asher’s POVGunfire erupted the moment I stormed into the building with Luca and Marcus. The scent of gunpowder and blood filled the air, mixing with the sharp cries of men dropping to the floor. My heart pounded, but I barely registered the chaos. My mind had only one thought: Ivy.I scanned the dimly lit warehouse frantically, my pulse hammering in my ears. My grip tightened around my gun as I pushed forward, ducking behind a stack of crates. Then, through the haze of bullets and bodies, I saw her.Ivy.She stood near the back of the room, bound and struggling, her dark hair wild, her face pale. My breath caught in my throat. She was right there. So close. But she wasn’t alone. Taylor stood in front of her, a knife gleaming in her grip.Panic crashed through me. I turned to Luca and Marcus. “Be careful! Ivy’s right there!”Luca gave a sharp nod, his jaw clenched as he took cover and fired precisely at Taylor’s men. Marcus moved beside him, dropping two of them with clean shots. I ba
