CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED.

"I gave an order and you defiled it but you still don't get it? I asked you to go to the three hospitals, and you went to two and concluded that you will receive the same information as the third one. Did you go to the third one and were rejected?" Mr. Logan asked angrily.

"Sir…but it's…"

She was still talking when Mr. Logan hung up on him.

'Fuck…' She mumbled as she hit her hand on the car door before entering the car.

"He wants me to get embarrassed again, so I will go there and get the same rejection news." She mumbled inaudibly.

"Did you say something?" The chauffeur asked curiously.

"Please take me to Westham Pharmaceutical." She replied.

"After going through circles, we're finally going to the right place." The chauffeur remarked, provoking Jessica who knew she was going to be rejected.

After almost an hour, the chauffeur stopped in front of Westham Pharmaceutical.

"Wish you good luck!" The chauffeur said but Jessica just shook her head and walked in

"We don't have to meet for us to have a grudge against you. I mean, there is an online community where we all meet and form alliances or grudges." The first maid remarked and immediately, Jessica realized they were only trying to bully her because of her brief relationship with Cruz. "And don't think we are the only ones holding grudges against you, there are a lot of ladies…" "Point of correction, it is not 'ladies' but 'shameless ladies' with no self-respect or esteem. Next time you plan to stop me, think of a better reason and stop disgracing yourself." Jessica reprimanded while the ladies just dropped their heads in embarrassment and anger. Next thing, she shoved them aside and attempted to go into the elevator once again but someone else stopped her. "Hey, Ms. Vegas!" A lady whom Jessica recognized as a staff member from Royal High and one of the interns greeted her. "How are you doing, Ms. Manning, do you also work here?" Jessica asked curiously. "I'm doing good. "Maybe you didn't know this but the school is only organized for the internship of four staff members in this hospital…" "Well…that was before I was included in the list. The school principal explained this to me and he also made me understand that each hospital is now supposed to accept five staff members. I mean…I even got accepted yesterday." Jessica explained to the best of her knowledge, interrupting Ms. Rivera. "I know but due to the short notice on the information, we couldn't provide more vacancies for the additional staff as we had other interns from different medical schools. But because the school board of trustees wanted you to return to the school, Mr. Westham decided to accept a fifth person and that happens to be you. I hope you understand that you are directly under the Chief Surgeon now. You should be grateful for this double opportunity because you're going to learn a lot from him more than any other interns would." Ms. Rivera persuaded and Jessica became confused.

"Are you seriously trying to tell me you don't know how I've helped you today? Do you think I would try to ruin this opportunity for you? After I overheard you complaining about how the other interns were already questioning your sincerity and relationship with me, that's why I wanted to show them there's no such thing between us. Being so formal with you in front of her will make her believe I don't associate my personal life with my professional life and soon enough, everyone will know of it because she's going to make it spread like wildfire. All I wanted was to make them believe there's no familiarity between us so that by the end of this program, your recommendation letter is not questioned but you…you believe the only thing I'm good for is causing problems and not solving them so you will always ever see

She panicked, breathing heavily, and just then the door opened again and Cruz was standing behind her confused. "Are you alright?" He asked curiously. "Uhmm…yeah, yeah I'm good. Go back and have fun!" Jessica gasped as she quickly turned around and hurried down the veranda to where the nurses' office was. Jessica had a hard time concentrating on her work even after returning to her office and Ms. Rivera was forced to notice. "Are you alright?" She asked out of concern, jolting Jessica out of her thoughts. "Yeah…" she gasped, moving her eyes from one corner of the room to another until she decided to ask the question that had been troubling her mind. "Hey, Ms. Rivera…" "Mia! That's more comfortable." Mia corrected as she was more comfortable being called by her name. Jessica didn't have a problem with that after all, they were age mates.

Cruz paced restlessly in the elevator all through his ride down to the second floor and as soon as he arrived at the second floor, he ran through the small crowd of nurses and patients until he saw Jessica and immediately pulle

"I-I…forgot my phone…so I came to… pick it up." Jessica stuttered. "Ok. You can leave now." Cruz replied and with much hesitation, she left the office. 'She couldn't have heard me, right?' He returned to his seat and tried his best in persuading them. "I am only going back on my decision because of you." Ms. Wellington concluded and Cruz was happy about it even though he was still very disappointed at Jessica's distrust for him. Once Cruz's meeting with Ms. Wellington was over, Cruz also left the hospital, but there were still several doctors and nurses on night shifts at the hospital. Cruz's blood wail drew Mia's attention and seeing his office door wide open, she knew something was up so she ran to his office to find out. "Sir, what is going on?" She panicked as she saw Cruz frantically trying to wake Jessica up. As expected, Cruz didn't pay any attention to her but rather carried Jessica into his office and laid her on the hospital bed which was adjacent to his desk. He checked his pulse and also her heartbeat before connecting an IV to her left hand after which he slumped on the mini couch right beside the bed and let out a heavy sigh. He relaxed his head on top of the couch, facing the ceiling as he roughly rubbed his hand against his face. Mia who had been helping him in silence finally decided to speak up. "Sir, what happened to her?" She asked out of concern. Cruz kept quiet for a while but his red eyes spoke volumes and after working with him for three years, Mia knew when to give him his space so she left the office. A few minutes later, she was fo

"Damn!” Dave exclaimed in awe. “Cruz can definitely hear us.” Dr. Kang affirmed. “Now back to why he is refusing to let us take her…”“Cruz, if you want us to treat Jessica, move your finger twice, if not move it three times.” He suggested and once again, Cruz answered by moving his fingers just twice. “And do you want us to take her? If yes, move your finger twice, otherwise, thrice.” Dr. Kang suggested again and this time, he moved his finger three times.“He wants her to be treated but he doesn’t want us to take her.” Dr. Kang explained. “That means he wants her to be treated here!” Klaus interpreted. “Perfect. Call her doctor! He should treat her here. It would only make Cruz’s condition improve.” Dr. Kang suggested. “And please, no one else must hear of this!” He warned again and the men agreed with her before Dave went to get her doctor. By the next morning, Jessica’s temperature was finally down but she was still in Cruz’s arms. The family was happy she was finally getting

Cade was the first to run into the room upon hearing her shriek. Fortunately, her voice pierced the soundproofed rooms thanks to the fact that Cruz has succeeded in opening the door ajar. Cade had called Dr. Kang as soon as the attack happened. Fortunately, Dr. Kang who had already predicted this was going to happen came to Los Angeles the same day Cruz had come which was why he directed them to Cruz's hospital and was able to meet up with them in time. Outside the ward was the whole family panicking while Cruz's parents pestered Dave to tell them what was going on. "Why did you have an oxygen mask with you as if you knew he was gasping for air? Back in South Korea, Cruz had suffered another attack after the call and the doctors went through several hours of stress to stabilize him. It was only later the next day that Cruz finally regained his consciousness. By that time, Dave, who had left for South Korea the previous night, was already there with him. Dr. Kang was so pissed with them that he refused to speak with them. It took hours of convincing to finally get Dr. Kang to join them for a conversation but he had a patient to attend to and he agreed to join them once he was done. During that time, Cruz decided to question Dave about the circumstances back at home. "How is Jessica doing?" Cruz asked worriedly as he sat up on his bed, looking a lot thinner than he used to. By the time Dave was done with his call, he turned to meet Cade's confused gaze. "Whatever happens in the future, don't look for anyone to put the blame on." Dave warned before walking out on him, heading out of the hospital. Cade was confused about Dave's warning. All he knew was that his brother was a coward who couldn't stay with his wife when he needed her the most. He returned to the room where Jessica's mom was now sitting up, weeping. "I really didn't want to regret joining your family but now I do." She spoke out her mind while staring into Mrs. Westham's eyes. "Jessica really wanted to keep this baby. Now that this happened, she will never be the same again." She continued as she removed the IV connected to her hand and stood up to her feet. "We shouldn't all gather around me. Jessica is the patient here so let's wait around her room. I will take her back home as soon as she is discharged. She will no longer continue whatever this relationship is." She concluded an

He scolded as he pushed her, making her flinch in fear. For every step she took backwards to create a space between, Cade closed in on her. Even though Cade was young, he was taller and had a well built body and with the anger in his eyes and rage in his voice, it was no doubt it scared Valeria. "Hey…w-what do you think you're doing?"
