On the way back home, Friederich answered at least fifteen calls. To serve them, I pressed a button next to the steering wheel of the car. I kept yawning, sleepy, tired, but happy for the lively afternoon. In the sky there was only a thin black layer, it was already past 6 p.m. when we decided to return.

I had a slight impression that he had noticed that the injury on my back was still clearly visible, even if it no longer caused me any pain, and I was all the time wanting to see if the injury in my belly was causing me discomfort. If not even our crazy sex in the bathroom was able to reopen that wound, nothing else would be.

Most of the way, he smiled at me, or held my thigh, retiring me from my common daydreams. He seemed so carefree, even bored of answering so many calls, most of them I barely understood what he said. In a way it seemed calm to be with me, even if most of the time it made me act like a child.
