Liam, witnessing the abrupt change in the officer's attitude toward Carol, furrowed his brows in disbelief. The speed at which the officer had shifted his stance left Liam feeling disgusted by the officer's abandonment of duty in favor of appeasing Carol's influence. At first he had thought the officer was an honest one, but he was proved wrong, because as soon as the officer realized that he was dealing with Carol Steinfeld he decided to abandon his duty.

Carol grinned, noticing the drastic change in the officer's demeanor. And it was what she had expected when she had told him who she was. “I'm glad you realized who you're dealing with quickly, officer.” She said smugly, turning to look at Liam with a look that said, ‘I have more power than you.’

Liam met her gaze, irked by the smugness playing on her lips. It was evident she believed she had the upper hand in this situation, yet she had no inkling of whom she was crossing. Only if she knew who he was, then she wouldn't be this conf
