Hearing as his dad retold the whole story, Liam couldn't help to be even more thankful to Erin. And even though they had a lot of differences in the past and they hated each other because of it, he couldn't deny that she was not as selfish as he had thought. His perception of her had changed, perhaps she had a good heart.

And he was so thankful to her, because if she hadn't saved his parents then they wouldn't still be alive.
