Hailey was in her designated room during the early hours of the day, sleeping when the loud and familiar ringtone of her phone suddenly rang out and jolted her awake. The room window was drawn up and enclosed by the curtains, hindering the day's light from coming into the slightly dim room.Hailey struggled to get up from the bed and after a few rings she sat up and lazily reached out for her phone, grumbling quite a lot of things under her breath. After she picked up the phone, her eyes squinted from the lighting of the phone as she read the caller's identity and immediately saw the saved name of Kol.With a renewed energy, Hailey swiped to the green button, picking up the phone and immediately cleared her throat to speak." Hi Kol." she greeted as soon as she picked the call." Hello, how're you doing? It's been a while." Kol replied, his tone friendly and casual." Yes it has, what's been happening on your end." She asked with a yawn, now fully awake and seated properly on the bed.
The weekend came and went with Hailey wound up in the shared home of herself and Ciara and Suddenly, it was a new week. The dreaded week which Hailey was to face her reality after some weeks of avoiding and playing around the truth of what her life has become.During the transitioning night to Monday morning of the week, Hailey didn't sleep properly. Throughout the night she found herself waking up earlier than usual and checking what the time said more times than she'd like to admit.Ever since Mrs Whitmore's little surprise visit the week before, Hailey had been literally counting her days till she had to report to the office and reclaim her job. As much as she knew she felt hesitant about the whole situation, Hailey knew that there weren't any more excuses to give. Unless she wanted to lose her job, which at the moment, she couldn't afford to be jobless.Hailey woke up for the nth time, and this time around, the clock read five thirty am in the morning. Albeit she targeted waking u
"When will all this end?" Chase wondered as he opened the file he'd received containing the names of possible investors. He needed to find an investor very soon or he didn't know what he'd do. Everything was bad, nothing was going well. He was fed up and he was sick of losing it all.If he didn't find an investor soon....He didn't even want to think about that possibility. For their sake, for Dawn's sake Dawn deserved better than everything that was happening to them right now. It was for her sake that he had asked for this file. She was the reason he was still holding on. He used to be Chase Denver, the wealthiest business man in the country but now? He wasn't even among the top twenty and the only reason his name was in news these days was because everything was falling apart and people loved to talk about the downfall of people like him."I can't take anything else lord, please." He said out loud with a sigh as he fell on the bed tossing the file aside. The file would have to w
"Haven't you done enough?""Why are you here? Are you here to finish what you started then?"Chase's words played on repeat in her head as tears rolled down her cheeks. She had barely been able to stop them from failing as soon as she had gotten out of the house. She had so excited to see him, perhaps too excited. She'd been eager to know if he was okay but he'd looked so sick it'd broken her heart. She'd done everything to hold herself back and not reach for him. And then he had gone off on her like a cannon, firing her with words that had felt like knives. She never knew her heart could hurt this much but it was hurting and she didn't know how to make the pain stop."Why are you here? Are you here to finish what you started then?""Please stop." She yelled holding her head willing the voices in her head to stop. This action earned her stares from people walking by but she didn't seem to notice them. The voices had stopped, she realized and was thankful but the pain in her heart was
The sun was up and her alarm was ringing. Hailey groaned loudly and reached for the alarm clock she had placed on her nightstand. She pushed things down and groaned at the loud noise. "You need to turn that off Hailey, I can't sleep." Clara groaned rising up from the bed. "I don't even know why you use that if you never wake up to the sound." Hailey rolled off the bed and moaned in pain. "Ah," Clara turned on the lights and rushed to her side. "You need to be more careful." She said as she helped her up. Hailey leaned on the bed and Clara sighed. "It's time to wake up Hailey. I'll go get started on breakfast."Hailey mumbled incoherent words in response and Clara laughed walking out.***"I can't believe it's a new week, it feels like it's only been a day." Hailey grumbled slumping on the only couch in the small living room.Clara laughed and pushed a cup of coffee towards her. "Take this, you look like a zombie." Hailey grunted in agreement as she took a sip from the steaming cu
She was snoring alot . Chase observed as he stopped at a red light and glanced at the woman in the passenger's seat of his car. The last person he should have around him after everything that had happened. Why couldn't he ever be firm when it came to her?He winced as her snores increased. What amount of work had she done for her to be snoring so loud? He wondered as he turned off the engine. If she knew he had caught her snoring , she'd be embarrassed. Her call had surprised him and worried him at the same time. A few minutes earlier ....Charlie was lying on his bed exhausted and weak to the bones. Things were still not looking up but at least things were in a better place. He had faith that in the coming days, things would be back to the way they used to be before... Before Hailey. Right now, all he wanted , all he wanted was to sleep till dawn. His phone rang breaking him out of his thoughts and he groaned. He didn't want to pick up because he was mentally drained, he couldn'
Hailey slept a little bit later than usual as a result of accompanying Dawn. She was happy to bond with her again and every single minute was precious because she didn't know when she was going to have such an opportunity to see her next.Having only been here as a result of Chase's kindheartedness, Hailey forced herself to stay up until Dawn was ready to sleep and just like she'd usually done as a nanny, she tucked Dawn in and Kissed her forehead before letting herself out of Dawn's room and onto her own.Funnily enough, that night, when she entered her former room, she was stunned to see that everything was in place and seemed untouched from the last time she was in it. At the thought of it, Hailey didn't know whether to laugh or cry. But instead decided to get a shower and hopefully get some sleep to be able to function. Before Hailey could get a decent night's rest, she struggled with thoughts of Chase and all the snarky and riling gestures he made all through their ride over. She
Ciara was in silence as she watched the mannerism of Hailey since her return. Since the previous day, she had not returned and didn't obviously deem it smart to contact her and just reassure her of her safety. Ciara had wanted to immediately lash out at her the moment she crossed through the doors but her general mood didn't give her an opportunity but instead aroused concern over what was wrong.Hailey who was seated beside her struggled inwardly to open up about how she'd just been served cold by Chase. She couldn't speak and felt so ashamed to tell the story of how she'd been put out like a stray animal by Chase and how she deserved every single word thrown at her during the early hours of the day by Chase." Okay, you better start talking or I might be forced to involve the freaking police, what the hell is going on?" Ciara said in exasperation and frustration. No doubt Hailey's countenance and disposition was scaring her. Especially when it followed a string of events where she d
The three days watch was finally over and Chase was over the moon. He had gotten up at the crack of dawn and had woken everyone in his house up. Today, finally after so many months of being apart due to one situation or the other Hailey was going to be moving into his house for good. Natalie, her grandfather were out of his life now and he was free to be with whoever he wanted.“Daddy?” Dawn’s voice pulled him back to the present and he smiled as he caught her form in the doorway.“In here Dawn.” He opened his arms smiling when she ran towards him. “You look happy, what’s the secret?” Chase asked lifting her up in his arms as if she weighed nothing. “Does this have anything to do with Hailey coming back home?”“Yes, I’m soooooo excited.” She started telling him her many plans for Hailey’s arrival. Chase nodded his head as he listened attentively, his mind creating images of the kind of family he, Hailey and Dawn will make. She continued listing out her plans and Chase let his mind d
" Is she going to be okay?" Chase asked the team of doctors and nurses who came for the morning round and observed a sleeping Hailey." She is a fighter, Mr Denver. No doubt she'll be fine. So far there's been a lot of progress." One of the doctors explained with a smile, hoping to ease of the tension on Chase's shoulders.Chase sighed in relief, " oh thank you doc. Hopefully she wakes up early." He added, patting her hair for better measure." She will be up in no time. Just give her some time to flesh it out." The doctor affirmed and headed out of the ward, not before they'd both shook hands on it.It had been three days of total blackout. Hailey was yet to awaken and Chase sat by her side, looking rough, barely going home and waiting for her to wake up.For the first time in a while, Chase reevaluated his thoughts and prayed Vehemently that she woke up in good health alongside the child within her. He watched like a hawk for any little changes and continually felt the stomach of
“She’s in critical condition.” George said speaking to the nurse who came outside to help them. The nurse nodded and placed her hands on Hailey’s wrists checking for a pulse. She smiled when she noticed there was indeed a pulse. “She has a pulse but its barely there and she has lost a lot of blood. She will have to be admitted immediately.” The nurse said and ran off to get the stretcher and some backup.George looked at Chase and sighed placing his hand on his shoulder. “Your wife is going to be fine Mr Denvers, they are good at their job.” He said and quickly answered someone over the radio. “I have to heard to the station now, there are some things I need to take care of. I will need Hailey’s statement and all the evidence she has against those men so we can ensure that they pay for all their crimes.”“You’d have to wait for her to get better then,” Chase said and sighed stroking Hailey’s hair. “I don’t know where she left the files she had been working on. Infact, she refused to g
“We’ve found her.”Chase was on his feet before anyone else, his heart beating wildly in his chest. ‘Finally, some good news.’ He thought but said instead. “Where is she? Is she okay? How’s the baby?”The cop would have laughed if it had been a different situation but this was a very sensitive case. “We have found her location but we wanted to let you know first.” He said and watched as several emotions crossed Chase’s face, the most obvious ones being relief then concern.“Where is she? Can I see her?” Dawn asked walking towards the cop. “Where is Hailey?”“Come here little one.” Leo said and pulled Dawn away earning him a grateful smile from Chase who was looking frazzled. “Let’s go and get some juice for everyone.”“But I want to see Hailey.”“Come on, daddy will bring her back.” Leo said pulling her away.Chase sighed and turned to the cop. “I’m coming with you to bring her back. I can’t stay here while you go.”“Me too, I am coming along.” Ciara said. “She’s my friend and I can h
An unconscious Hailey was bound by the arm and taken out of the car by some buff men. At the arrival of the car in the shady outskirts of town, Franklin's men were all in standby, waiting for the arrival since word was sent of the successful mission." What happened?" One of the men asked the alleged driver as soon as Hailey was carried into the building." Bitch tried to kill us both, and had to knock her out cold." The man said, taking off his glasses and showing a scar which ran through his lower lids." Get rid of the car and every other trace, there must be no traces." George ordered and immediately walked into the building. Leaving the man to his devices. The car was driven to a blind spot and set ablaze. Hailey was thrown into a leaking and dirty cell room, leaving her to await the arrival of Mr Franklin and Mr Amore.Hailey was brought to consciousness the moment water poured upon her from the leakage. It was raining outside. She looked around her surroundings and fear gripped
While Chase was continuously ringing Hailey, her phone was on the couch of the sitting room. She had unconsciously dropped it while waiting for some sort of reply from Chase but to no avail.Everytime a new message came into her phone, Hailey rushed to see if it was the reply, abandoning every other thing with high emotions. After the fifth occurrence, she decided to put her phone on do not disturb mode in order to be able to get some work done.As she became submerged in her work, Hailey totally forgot that she had previously placed her phone in total silence. In that haze she worked tirelessly until she couldn't any longer and dozed off spending the night on the couch. The next morning, Ciara stumbled out of her room and met Hailey seated in an awkward way on the couch, the laptop was halfway down the floor, opened with the screen on and battery almost empty. After putting the laptop in place, she headed over to a sleeping Hailey and with two successive pats, she woke her up." Get
Ciara was in Hailey's room, playing on her phone and simultaneously observing the little changes she noticed in Hailey's body. Her hips seemed much wider, and eyes much more dilated alongside her constant urge to puke. She had earlier researched on the known causes of such symptoms and the only diagnosis that seemed to tick all boxes was the pregnancy idea.Ciara played with the idea of Hailey being pregnant but she couldn't reconcile the two. At first she'd vehemently kicked out the idea of her being pregnant out to the curbs of her mind but then she remembered Kol.For as much as she knew, there wasn't any relationship between them and she believed if something of such nature had taken place, the Hailey she knew would definitely speak to her about it.At the same time, in contrast to that point, Hailey had shared a kiss with Kol not so long ago and deliberately kept it to herself.Although she was made to understand that she thoroughly regretted it and deemed it a mistake that would
Three weeks later, Hailey and Ciara were finally leaving the hotel. Due to their prolonged stay while searching for an apartment, there was pretty much an hole in the middle of their pockets.Despite how fast they were able to secure an alternative apartment with decent security, it had cost them three weeks worth of money to lodge. A price for the protection of their lives. While they were in the hotel, Hailey reached out to Mrs Whitmore, informing her of the recent events and asking for some time off to figure herself out.Surprisingly, Mrs Whitmore was lenient and it was pointblank unbelievable when she accepted and later sent in a contract which included a working from home agenda and how to conveniently report to due authority for as long as the process dragged on.Originally, when she demanded some time away, she'd been scared of how Mrs Whitmore was going to react but with the reply she got, she was beginning to think her boss wasn't so bad after all.Or maybe she'd finally sca
"Hey Cee, I'm home." Hailey said walking towards the house. She couldn't wait to lie in her bed again. Work had been hectic!"I'm craving some of your delicious snacks." She said and paused at the door noticing that the handle was broken. With her heart beating wildly in her chest, Hailey opened the door and frantically searched for her friend."What is all this? Cee?" She rushed towards her friend when she spotted her sitting beside the living room couch. It was turned upside down just like the rest of the house. What could have happened? With concerned eyes, she scanned her friend's body sighing in relief when she noticed no bruises or scars. "Cee, what happened?""This house is no longer safe Hailey. I met everything like this when I came home from work."Hailey pulled her friend close and hugged her silently listening to her sobs.Hailey didn't need the police to tell her who had done this, Franklyn must have put his men up to this. He was so desperate to scare her that he'd do an
