Laura
The pungent smell of hospital disinfects, invaded my nostrils as soon as I entered the hallway.
"Woah, I didn't know Ryan's mother is admitted to Duilgo hospital," Rhia commented, gaping at every luxury corner of the area.
Duilgo hospital is one of the most luxurious hospitals in town. He is really using my money, huh?
Ryan didn't hear what Rhia said or at least pretended to, letting out an awkward smile. "You guys wait here." He said before holding the door of the cabin beside him and slumping inside.
After about minutes later, Rhia took a seat on the couch at the side and dragged me down beside her. "Laura, did you cry?" She seemed worried when she held my hand and looked at me.
Is it really Rhia concerning about me? It's so unusual of her. I forced a smile and shook my head. "I didn't."
"Liar."
Both of us almost got startled by the sudden interruption of Ryan's voice. Did he call me a liar? How dare he!
I blinked my eyes
RyanThe grandfather clock ticked on 10. It has been a long since I and Rhia came back home whereas Laura didn't. Where did she go?"I lost again." Anne who was sitting beside me snapped, slamming the controller down on the couch. She finished her homework fast just to play games with me. But here I was anxious about the ruthless. Her face downed as she looked at me with her lips pouted. "What a liar! You said you will help me."I nodded and pursed my lips. "I will. But tell me first, does Laura always come late?"She shook her head. "No." Then what's wrong with her today? And to my wonder, no one in this house was bothering about it as if it's a usual thing.I forced myself out of the anxiety and grabbed the controller. "To move your character, use the left joystick L. To rotate the camera, use the right joystick R. And...""Behave Laura." I heard Laura's so-called mom Mrs Aliyah's voice getting closer. Wait, Laura! I put the controller dow
Ryan"Here." I handed Laura her nightgown when she kept saying that she can change her clothes herself. She wasn't in her right mind, that's what weakened my confidence. "Are you sure you will be able to change alone? I can ask Rhia to help you."She pulled herself from the couch clumsily and squinted her intoxicated eyes, glaring at me. She is really cute when she is drunk. No cold stare, no harsh tone. She should drink at least once a week. "I don't need Rhia. I can do everything alone. I am not weak."Not weak? She was tolerating all the bullies alone mutely, not even protesting against them."Yeah. I saw that in college today." I scoffed at her as I watched her unbalanced organs tripping over nothing. "Go and change before you collapse."She pouted and reached out the buttons of her blouse. "Why do I need to go to the washroom? It will be too hot there. Let me change here." Saying that, as she started unbuttoning it, my eyes widened
RyanLaura gave me a nod and slumped on the bed like an obedient girl. Heaving a deep sigh, I pulled the blanket up and wrapped her body with it."Good night," I said as I think of making my way to the couch. But before I could take a step, my hand was grabbed. My heart almost jumped out of its place although seconds later, I relaxed realizing it's Laura."What?" I gaped, my brows frowned together. She didn't reply, just smiled and before I could react, she pulled my hand, making me fall on the bed. "Yah!" I jerked her hand away and whined but only until I realized we are on the same bed, together."Ah, ah! Move." I grunted and quickly pulled myself up but was again down on the bed beside her. "You will regret it." She didn't respond, instead met my gaze. I swallowed my breath when I felt like she was scheming something inside her beautiful head. "What are you thinking?" I mumbled.Without even bothering, she dragged herself close, rested her
LauraI flipped my eyes open when the daylight knocked on my closed eyelids and as I tried to pulled myself up from the bed, my head felt heavier than my body. I drunk too much yesterday."You are awake." The voice that was approaching closer sounded quite familiar. I blinked my blurred vision and witnessed the man I walked down the aisle with standing in front of me.He cleared his throat after placing the bowl that he was holding in his hands. "Mr Kellie said you will need this soup. And..." He took a halt as he shoved his hand inside his pocket, took his phone out and kept it on my bed. What am I supposed to do with his phone? I gave Ryan a blank stare who was still searching for something inside his pocket. His face beamed when he found it out and placed it on the table beside the bowl. "Here is the pain reliever. Take it only if your headache gets worse with time."My voice seemed stuck in the throat so I didn't dare to make a sound and contin
LauraI plopped the phone back on the bed when Ryan came out of the washroom. "You still didn't finish the soup." He said whilst his gaze halted on the bowl. "Let me lend you some help." Letting out a soft sigh, he approached me and grabbed the bowl."What help?" I blinked. I don't know why I felt so comfortable around him already. He took the spoon and sat on the bed facing me. "Here." He held the spoon in front of my lips after taking a spoonful of soup onto it and blowing to avoid burning my tongue.I parted my lips and ate just like an obedient girl. "You are feeling better? Do you need a pain reliever?" He asked, looking at me with his gentle smile just like a gentleman. Who would believe he got into a fight yesterday?I shook my head and his gaze fixed downward at the bowl as the smile slowly faded. "I don't want to interfere in your personal life. But, I am really curious about something. Can I ask?""Ask...""Do you... love Aaron?" H
Ryan...The entire night was torture. I couldn't sleep a bit. It was so unusual. Sleeping was the best thing I have ever done. But I don't know what didn't let me even close my eyes. Anyway, when the daylight was still unfolding in the room, her phone started ringing.Gently, I moved her hand from my chest and dragged myself away from her, straightening my body as I grabbed the phone from the table. The caller ID didn't amaze me at all. Aaron. It was her boyfriend. But what made him call her at this time? Maybe, they were together last night. Maybe they fought and that's why she got drunk. The phone kept ringing and I didn't want to wake her up so instead, I answered the call. "Hi. Laura is...""Enjoyed the night together?" The first question he asked. His voice sounded like he didn't sleep the entire night. He really loves her, huh?I couldn't comprehend the situation. I just chose to be polite. "Pardon?""I asked if you guys enjoyed the ni
RyanWhen Laura told me and Rhia to get into her car, we took glances at each other in confusion. I was sure even Rhia wasn't aware of this plan. But both of us got into the car anyway. She sat on the passenger's seat and I, on the seat beside the driver's. Laura told the driver to get out and sat on the driver's seat. Taking the key in her hand, she pushed it into the lock.Rhia looked shocked more than being confused this time. "Are you going to drive?""Yeah." Laura replied briefly.Rhia scoffed. "Why did you tell the driver to go?""I don't want him to tell grandfather about this." About what?"But... you can't drive." It was a statement coming from Rhia. Wait, she can't?Laura's eyes were fixed at the lock. She was trying to start the car. But it was so obvious that she can't even start it. "I can!" She argued."No, you can't." I confided and leaned to help her out but stopped suddenly and shook my head. "No! Actuall
Laura"What?" I almost shouted after what Aaron said just now. "Do you really think I will give myself to anyone? Just because, we slept together doesn't mean that we had sex. I don't even remember sleeping next to him.""Right, you don't even remember because you were drunk. And probably, you don't remember what you two did as well." Aaron said and gave me an arrogant look. He was now standing in front of me, wearing the checked ash coloured shirt that was gifted by one of my classmates who had a crush on him. He tried to provoke me with that? Silly!I stiffened in place. He didn't believe me at all, not even a bit. "What's wrong with you? You weren't like this." He was the sweetest guy I have ever met. He had faith in me.Releasing a long sigh, Aaron ran his hand through his hair and nodded. "I was the one who ended it. But... I just couldn't hold myself..." He paused and again, gazed back at me. "You said he is here. Call him. I want to meet him."
Ryan...In the evening, we reached the west club where the party was supposed to be held. The club was significant, the music was all over the floors with colorful spotlights. Only a few people were hooking up, others were busy dancing, drinking. The aura seemed so typical and as a result, I doubted if she had pranked us or not.My suspicion came to a conclusion when I found Serene dancing behind Aaron. They both looked like two grown-up drunkard people enjoying the beats in their own worlds, not caring about anyone. I was right, it was just a regular party. Nothing was special."What are you thinking?" Beside me, Laura looked up at me as she wrapped her hands around my arm. She got my heart beating loud. It was new and foreign among these regular stuffs.Swallowing a gulp, I met her gaze. "Shall we go in?" She nodded and we started approaching the couple. But before we could do so, noticing us, Serene stopped dancing and ran to us, leaving her fiance on
Laura...Richard! I had heard this surname before. It was like years ago and I was quite sure that I did. His face wasn't a vivid memory but the name was. How come I didn't ask his full name yet? It was embarrassing."Ryan... have you ever seen me before?" I asked after we entered the little, cute villa. He nodded, placing his jacket on the couch. "Yeah. Of course."My jaw tightened. "When?"He remained silent for a while before parting his lips again. "A long ago."Of course, it was a long ago and that was why I couldn't remember it. "Where was it?"This time, he chuckled at my curiosity. But it seemed so dry and unreal. "In the club."I narrowed my gaze, realizing the playfulness of his voice. "No... before that!"He didn't reply and walked towards the mini handmade kitchen where he grabbed a glass and placed it on the cabinet. My gaze followed him quietly."Laura?" He called me as he opened the cap of the juice
Ryan..."Laura," I called her from behind when she was walking towards our villa at a fast pace. After she saw the girl, her face had been so straight and even more expressionless. She wasn't okay. I could feel her. I certainly could feel the pain she was going through. And I wished I could lessen it. Though she might pretend that she was okay, I assumed she wasn't."What?" She didn't look back and continued walking.I had been struggling to reach her. So rushing to her, I held her hand and decreased her speed a bit. "I do have long legs. But I don't have much energy to chase you, Laura.""Who told you to chase me, anyway? Chase the girl, instead." She said, shooting me a murderous glare.I clenched my jaw in confusion. "Which one?" I didn't remember talking about chasing any girl before."The girl who was so happy to see you right now. And you too." She mumbled, looked really pissed off. There wasn't anything to get pissed or get mad
Laura...I was stiffened in place seeing Aaron in front of me. What was he doing here? Did he know I am here?It was too surprising to believe that it's just a coincidence."Laura." Aaron finally parted his glued lips. He was as shocked as I was. "What are you doing here?"I was supposed to ask that question. Instead, I felt guilty and started stuttering. "I-I... am here for my honeymoon.""What?" Aaron almost shouted as he stepped close to me, glaring at me murderously. "What did you say?" His voice sounded fierce.I garnered my courage and dared to look into his eyes. "What are you doing here?""Don't change the damn topic. With whom you are here?" He again shouted and it brought tears to my eyes. The people around us were staring at me. How could he always humiliate me like this?"Of course, her husband." Ryan was the one to retort as he walked by my side. My heart felt at ease, it really did. "With whom do you
Ryan...In the morning, the view of the room appeared more beautiful. The sunlight that drifted through the curtains kissed Laura's sleeping face. The sleeping beauty was my wife. I suddenly felt so proud of myself. Her long lashes were perfectly shut, her cherry pink lips were slightly parted. The white shirt hung off her thin frame and the cotton shorts showed off her long legs. And the clothes were still there because at night, I didn't touch her. I really didn't. I had gone too far but came out to be lucky enough that she didn't slap me after I hugged her.Instead of beating around the bushes with my hug, I couldn't reckon why she cuddled me when she was asleep. It was overwhelming once again."What are you staring at?" At her sudden voice, I almost jumped. She had her eyes closed. Jeez. How did she notice? Or was she pretending to sleep?I exhaled a relieved breath and slipped out of the blanket. "Why didn't you tell me that you are awak
Laura...Indeed, his back hug was a protection that assured me I have his back. In his embrace, I felt secure, safe and warm even though it was too cold. How could I push him away when I was the one who enjoyed it the most?Cringing at the thought, I slightly tilted my head and he buried his face more in the crook of my neck. His warm lips slowly brushed against my neck and his breath fanned upon my ear.I felt heat ran through my every spine whilst the sensation bumped on my skin, making me have goosebumps."Laura." He whispered softly.I tried to look at his face. "Yes."After a long silence, he pulled his face up and met my gaze. "I am a virgin." He sounded real but I was not going to be fooled. He had many girlfriends. And, that day Elita said they spent the night together. "I don't feel like joking around." I snorted, averting my gaze."I am not joking." He said.I regarded him with a piercing glare. "You wan
RyanDrowsiness? That was long gone. There was no sleep left in my eyes when I rolled on the bed and saw Laura enjoying the seaside alone. It was midnight. I wondered since when she was sitting there. In the soft breezes, her hair was flying over, covering her face. She didn't even bother to settle them aside. Her gaze was fixed at the illimitable horizon. She had got something miraculous, something different, something fascinating. She wasn't ruthless, she wasn't strong – not at all. She had the most fragile heart that was broke apart. It was all circumstance's fault, not her.I pulled myself up from the bed and mutely, walked to the deck to take in the phenomenal view. With every step closer, my heart vibrated faster. On the lounger, she was sitting with her knees folded and had her hand wrapped around them.I wasn't dreaming. She wasn't a hallucination. But how could a woman look such stunning? Her big eyes were gleaming in e
Laura...Except for the eating time and using the washroom, Ryan was asleep all the time, at least he pretended to. He was quite good at it.We arrived at our resort at night. A woman named Ms Ara was waiting for us in front of the reception. She escorted us to the villas' area of the resort. The entire place looked so beautiful. Even though it was night, I could see the resort was built using local materials, bright colours and stylish furniture with the interiors designed to reflect the Maldivian culture. The roars of the sea brought a smile to my face as we walked to the overwater sunset pool villa. Grandfather already told me about this beautiful villa. He and my grandmother had their honeymoon here."Please, call me if you need any help." Ms Ara said after she handed me the keys to the villa."Thank you." I replied with a smile. I realized I have been doing it a lot. Where was old cold me?Ryan grabbed the keys from me and swung
RyanI preferred people around me, to be honest. If they couldn't be honest, at least they should be silent instead of lying. And I liked it when Laura was silent to the question. She didn't answer, yet did with her silence.Wait, I wasn't frustrated already. I just liked to confuse her, I liked to see the puzzle face of hers. I liked the way she blushes, I liked the way she stutters and gets nervous."Now... I think I like her." The words slipped out of my mouth, adapting from my thoughts."Who?" Laura asked as she adjusted the seat belt. We were on the plane, thrown out of the car. Yes, her grandfather's plan was successful. However, what her dad said was right, if we were two minutes late, we would have missed the flight. But... that would have been better for me. For us.Dismissing my thoughts, I smiled at her. "I thought it's none of your concerns?" She had been saying it was none of her concerns from the day I met her. But now I realiz
