The social worker drives Theo to my home, as I had to take the motorbike. She understands that I will get a car, which I will now have to drive Theo around in.
I let her inside the house.
"So, as you well know, I don't have any furniture for Theo's room, but I have already made arrangements to get it today. Let me show you where his room will be." I lead her to the guest room. She nods in approval.
"You have more than enough to keep Theo happy and comfortable. You handled telling him the terrible news very well. I know how hard this must be for you, but you will both be alright. So I'm sure you will get the hang of things, it will take time to figure out what to do, but if you need any help at all, please call me. You are now Theo's legal guardian." Rackel shakes my hand. I nod.
A hoot sounds from outside.
"That's Theo's furnitures, as well as the ca
“Hello, my darling.” She says softly. I try to smile, but it doesn’t help.I walk up to my parents and my brother, and we join in one big hug, and as if it was a mutual cry, we sob together, and sink to the floor slowly. We stay like that for a few minutes until Theo interrupts.“Guess what Granny and Papa!” He says excitedly, “I get to stay with Aunty Gale now!”My parents look at me heartbroken and at the statement, my mother wails in agony. I try to give Theo a smile and pick him up.“Alright. Let’s get you home young man. It’s really late.” I hug my parents goodbye.“Drive safely Gale.” They state, looking at me with tears in their eyes. I just nod. I drive Theo home and lead him upstairs."Here is your room Theo." I show him his room, I take him by the mad and let h
I wake up, still holding a little person in my arms. He stirs softly.“Hey Theo.” I smile and kiss his forehead.“Hello Aunty Gale.” He smiles and hus me tightly.“Shall we go and eat breakfast?” I ask. It’s Thursday morning. The funeral is tomorrow. Theo nods. I take his hand. We head downstairs.“Would you like some a peanut butter and jelly toasted sandwich?” He nods eagerly.I make it for him. He sits on one of the three barstools and spins around on it. I laugh at his innocent antics. He is like the little light I have at the end of the tunnel. I cried myself to sleep last night. T
“How about we go do something shopping today?” I ask. Theo groans.“Do we have to?” I nod.“There is nothing in the fridge, we will starve if we don’t go. It might be fun.” I convince. He nods.“Come. Let’s go get dressed.” I smile. I pick him up on a piggy back.I hand him what he must wear. It’s a little striped blue and white tee shirt, with dark blue pants and cute little spiderman flip flops. He loves that movie.I quickly get change into my own clothes, shorts and a tee shirt, along with flip flops of my own. I make sure that Theo has brushed his hair and his teeth. He has a tiny little toothbrush. My sister has already taught him how to brush his teeth. I grab my iPad.“I have a deal for you.” I say in the car, as we drive to the nearest grocery store.&l
The funeral service was beautiful. It was sad at the same time. The attributes to my sister and her husband were beautiful. I gave a speech, and brought Theo up with me. It's Monday today. That means I have to go to work. I drive Theo to his kindergarten. I walk out with him, hand in hand. A lady comes to greet me. "Hello. You must me Miss Armstrong. Theo's godmother." I nod and smile. "Hey Theo, why don't you go play?" She says and he laughs, joining his little friends. "So," She smiles and rubs my back. "I know this journey is going to be long and hard. I'm here to help you. You haven't done this before. I have. Three times. My name is Kyla. I'm here to help you through this. Alright?" I nod slowly. "Thank you. That means a lot." I smile sadly. "Sure." She rubs my back. "It ends at 12. See you by at I'm then." I nod and head back to the car. It smells like her. It smells like Roses, her favorite fl
I head over and bury myself in work. My watch buzzes. It's 11:45. I quickly drive to pick up Theo.He runs over to me. "Hey mommy!" He smiles and runs up to me and grips me in a hug."I made this for you mommy." He gives me a painted picture. It's of a little stick figure, and a bigger stick figure."Is this you and me?" I ask, he nods eagerly. "I love you, baby." I pick him up and buckle him into his chair."Alright. I bought you some coloring in books and crayons. We are going to mommy's work. You can sit at my desk, and you can watch Tom and Jerry. Is that alright baby?"He nods eagerly and I hand him his books. We arrive at the office and I lead him hand in hand to my office. I brought in an extra chair for Theo. However, I find him turning around in my chair happily, colouring in with an orange crayon. I laugh."What are you coloring in baby?" I ask, holding a file, and filing pieces into it.
I stare at him open mouthed. "Like seriously?" He raises an eyebrow. "Yeah." He says, and looks at me pointedly, as if to say, "Well, duh." "Well then no." I say. His mouth drops ope . He laughs, and then looks at me. He stops laughing. "Wait ... You just declined my offer." He says, as of it sounds foreign to him. Like he doesn't quite understand. "Yeah." I smile. Nice one Gale. "Wait ... You're serious?" He looks taken aback, and the signature smirk which lines his features is replaced by a look of complete surprise. It is quite amusing, actually. He can't quite believe it can He? "Yup." I smile, innocently. "Well, it's getting super late, and I have my kid, so I better get going." I smile, and Aidan still looks at me puzzled, as if he can't quite place his fing
"HE LOVES you mommy!" Theo shouts, interrupting me from my thoughts. I force the tears away, and look in the review mirror. "You think so?" I ask, trying to smile at him in the review mirror. Seeing the little body in the backseat, makes me smile. I love this child so much. "I know so!" He jumps excitedly in the backseat. I laugh. "Should we put on some music?" I ask. Theo nods eagerly. I put on a song, and surprisingly, the little boy knows the whole song, off by heart. I laugh and roll my eyes. "What's for supper tonight?" Theo asks, stopping his singing. &nbs
The next morning, i drop Theo off. I have put on jeans and flip flops. He hasn't sent me the dresses, so I'm not wearing them until I have them. I drive to work. Everyone eyes my footwear. It might be unprofessional, but I'm going to enjoy my heel free time. I walk into my office, and Aidan is sitting on my desk smirking. Around him are a bunch of shopping bags. "Go on then." He smiles innocently. "Your bag for today." He says, handling me a bag. I don't even want to look inside. I groan and walk to the bathroom to change. I put out white Louis Vuitton stiletto heels. No! I groan and pit them onto my feet. I put my jeans and flip flops into the bag and walk out back into my office. Aidan is sitll sitting on the desk, looking through a file. He spins around at the sound of my heels. i almost tripped. Oops! Aidan's eyes widen. "You clean up nice, Armstrong." He says. I glare at him. He just shrugs it off. "The bet is ofic
