I somehow managed to get to my apartment, get in the shower, change into fresh clothes, and back home all in the record time of an hour and a half. I was determined to walk in casually, I had my story ready for any question that got thrown my way by Sasha, Mom, or whoever crossed my path along with a good excuse as to why I had to leave soon in order to get to the hospital on time. "It's nice to see that at least one of my children was able to find its way home," Mom says as she descends the stairs. Wait, Sashsa wasn't home? I managed to get here before him. Did that mean he spent the night with Chloe? Now I had a ton of questions. "We were out late and it was easier for me to go to my apartment. That's why I have it." I say. "And where did you leave your brother?" Yeah... what do I say to that? I dont want to tell her about Chloe. It's not my place to do so and I won't betray Sasha's trust. There are some secrets siblings should keep for each other not just from each other."Sasha
Adam's POVI returned home after dropping Alex off at the apartment to find the two cups of coffee still on the table just as Rosie left them before I left and I could hear her moving things around in the kitchen. I could dance around this but I do not want to, this is the woman who practically helped raise me. Another thought that came into my head was that now that she knows the secret I could bring Alex here more often, have her here, and wake up by her side without her having to run out the doors like we were doing something forbidden. I walked into the kitchen slowly, the radio was on low and she hummed as she cut the vegetables. "So..." Is the noise that leaves my lips as I lean against the door frame with my side."So..." Is the noise that leaves her lips as she takes the cutting board and uses the knife to drag the vegetables into the pot."There is no need to beat around the bush, Adam. It's clear you two are together, and I am happy for you, as I'm sure your parents will be
Alex's POVDo you know how hard it is to relax once someone tells you to relax? I realized just how hard it was while I waited for the doctor to return with my test results. I didn't know what to hope for. But every time I watched a pregnant woman walk by me I felt an acke around my heart. Was this really something I wanted or did I start to fixate on it because I believed I couldn't have it? "Miss Rodgers, the doctor will see you now." The nurse said and I jumped up from the chair as if I were struck by lightning."Thank you," I say as I pass by her and enter the doctor's office."Miss Rodgers, please sit." The doctor said as she pointed to the chair. Her tone was so neutral I didn't know what to expect."Can I just ask you, are you trying to have a baby right now?" I was a bit stunned, I didn't know what I was looking for right now."Not this exact moment, no. But I want to know what are my chances in the future, when, or if I decide I do want it." The doctor nods her head as she lo
The Hamptons were known for its exclusive luxury lifestyle but I mostly enjoyed the natural beauty, historical charm, and the fact it was so close to NY for whenever one needed an escape and wanted to get lost in the crowd. Here I was known as the princess of the Hamptons, more than money I stood behind generations of class and that is something that simply couldn't be bought. The privileges were big, for one I was never left standing in line or waiting for a table which is why I decided to stop by my favorite cafe for a coffee on the go. No one makes a salty caramel coffee better than "Sunny Suzans", despite the name, Suzan wasn't a hippy just a vegetarian. Also, Suzan wasn't real, it was a marketing strategy that only a few people knew about. The chain of cafes was led by one of the many branches our company held. Suzan was us. What I never expected was to walk in and see Adam. At first, a smile appeared on my face, a smile that vanished as I walked around the corner and saw him sit
I caught up to her just a few blocks down, my breath quickening in the cold air as I reached out for her arm. “Alex, wait—please.” She didn’t stop walking, didn’t even acknowledge me. Her pace quickened instead. "Alex," I called again, more firmly this time. Finally, she halted, though her back was to me. Her voice, when she spoke, was clipped and controlled. "You do not want to test me right now Adam. I need to breathe." I stepped closer, trying to close the distance she was putting between us, but I could hear the anger in her tone. "I didn’t want that to happen. You have to know that." My hands ran through my hair, frustration bubbling inside me. “I didn’t expect her to... do that. I was couth off gourd..." "Stop," she cut me off sharply. "I dont care, if you want that fake booby Barbie to drag her fake claws all over you then be my guest." She wasn’t angry in the way I’d seen her get angry before. This wasn’t just irritation—it was rage. Real rage."I didn’t let it go on,"
Alex's POVAs I walked back to my car I realized I most likely overreacted. This was Adam, he wouldn't lie to me. And what I saw was that that woman was all over him not the other way around, the more I thought about it the more I wanted to turn around and go back to him.One thing I learned about myself was that jealousy wasn't a good look on me, it made my blood boil like never before. This wasn't like the time when I thought Autumn and Adam could have something, perhaps because I liked her or the fact that up until that point, Adam and I were just friends. Now, things were different. I met what it meant to be loved by him and that is something I wouldn't bear to lose. Especially not by some bimbo like the one from the cafe. I was so close to dumping my coffee all over her head. She called him Addy. Uhh, I had to fight the urge not to vomit. He was Adam, my Adam. My love."Alex." I hear a familiar voice calling out for me just before I reach my car."Derek, hey," I say as I stop and
"What's up with you two?" Adam asks again as he walks further into the room."Ohh nothing, my baby sister just received this wonderful bucket of flowers, and I'm about to figure out from who," Sasha remarks as he tries to open up the small envelope when I try to snatch it again."First, I'm not your baby sister. I'm two minutes younger..." It seems I'll never be able to live past that. "And second, what you are doing is called an invasion of privacy," I say but to no use so I turn to Adam, my face in panic should tell him to do something about it."Adam. Tell him to give it back." Or so I thought."He is your older brother, there for an authority. You should really respect your elders." What the actual fuck? Why would Adam want Sasha to see the note? I know what kind of notes he leaves, that is not something I want my brother to read."On that note..." Sasha says, no pun intended... as he goes to read it before I actually have to jump at him to get it back."Adam, catch," Sasha yells a
Adam's POVEight p.m.One might say I already made myself at home at Alex's apartment, but Alex herself felt like home. This was just a place. I sat on her couch in silence just waiting to hear the door open and her footsteps trail down the hall. I went to her house after I couldn't bear the thought of how we last separated, it was eating at my soul. Yet not as much as the sight of those hideous flowers that were sitting on their living room table. Not as much as that note that sank it thets deep in my chest.I tried to hide to hide my discomfort... no that is not the right word for it.Hell, was more like it.Who did this man think he was? What gave him the right to send her flowers? How did he dare to ask her out?She was mine. Mine.Just thinking about it woke up the ugly side of me making me jump off the couch to shake it off when in my turn I met Alex's eyes. I must have gotten so lost in my thoughts I didn't hear her walk in."Hello to you too, I was starting to wonder how long y
...That night..."...so now we are not only friends and brothers-in-law but I had the privilege of being his best man. What he and Autumn have is special, anyone can see that, and all I can say is that I wish them both happiness. Also Autumn I'd like to ask your permission to take him out this Friday to play ball." Anthony jokes as he finishes his best man speech. I once heard of a so-called bromance Domenic and Anthony had pretty much ever since they met each other. Summer said she found it endearing. "As long as Summer gave you permission to go." Autumn hits Anthony with a comeback. "But Friday is a no-go, we have a Lamaze class," Autumn says as she touches Domenic's shoulder. "But you are free to join us," She added to which I started connecting the dots. Why Summer looked somewhat green on her face, why she didn't eat and why would she go to a Lamaze class..."That's a great idea." Summer says and Anthony looks at her strangely. "Why would we go to a Lamaze class?" He asks and A
Alex's POVI woke up with a smile on my face as the light of the day shined over my face. Despite the cold, I wrapped myself into a blanket and sat in the corner of my balcony, breathing in the familiar salty ocean air. I used to sit here and watch over the driveway, waiting for Adam's car to drive in, and while everything seemed the same, everything had changed. Now, we were together, dreaming about a future and enjoying the present. A day I once dreaded would never come was now here and the happines set in my chest could be painted in a million colours. I smiled to myself, thinking about how far I’d come. How we had come. With Adam, I had learned to be whole. I closed my eyes, letting the wind brush across my face, and took a deep breath. The salty air mixed with the faint scent of coffee surrounded me too and I suddenly opened my eyes to meet Mrs.Henrdics standing at the balcony door with coffee in hand."Good morning." She says as she walks over to me and hands me to warm cup. "I
"How is Autumn?" Eloise asks us as soon as we walk in leaving her cup of tea on the living room table."She is alright, as is the baby. They are gonna keep her overnight. Domenic stayed behind but I think Richard and Sasha will go home soon." I say as her eyes travel to the spot where Alex and I are holding hands when my mother comes to stand by Eloise. The smile on her face told me everything I needed to know."So... the two of you..." Eloise gestures between Alex and me. "How long has this been going on?" She asks."A while now," Alex says. "And before you start, it was my idea to keep it a secret. I didn't want our families involved before we were sure of where this was going." "I think that was very sensible of you." My mother says as she joins the conversation. "So now that you are sharing the news does it mean it's official?" "But they didn't share the news, they were discovered in a secret. There is a clear distinction." Eloise says.Alex laughs softly at Eloise’s comment, squ
"How is she? Can I see her?" Domenic asks as he jumps to get to him before everyone else. "Miss Cromwell is fine, she and the baby girl are stable. Her blood pressure went up which caused her to faint. I'm going to recommend bed rest until the baby gets here to avoid any possible complications." The doctor says and one could see and feel the worry melt off of our backs. "Did you talk to her? Did she remember anything? Is that why she had the crisis?" Richard asked as I stepped back and took Alex to my side wrapping my hand around her, keeping her close. Perhaps it wasn't the right moment but being able to hold her in public gave me a sense of power I never had before. "We talked for a brief moment and she described to me what happened, all the excitement of the wedding and the events that happened after took a toll on her, but she remains not remembering the past." We listen as the doctor talks and Alex smiles. We didn't care about the memories so much anymore. Autumn was alright
"What happened?" Richard yells as he runs to Autumn's side, almost crushing down at the site of her unconscious body in Domenic's hands. "I'm so sorry... I didn't think..." Rachel said as she watched what her words caused. "What did you do?" Richard asks her with fury in his eyes but Rachel only stares at Autumn in shock while Leo does the best he can to hold on to her. "Help is on its way!" Alex yells as she comes back and sticks to my side. Her hands are cold as they slip into mine. I wasn't sure if it was from the cold or from the situation that was in front of us with both Autumn and Sasha. "Dont wait. Get her in the car and drive to the hospital. I'll go with you and make sure they take good care of her." My dad says as he helps Richard stand up and move away from Autumn. Domenic lifts her in the air, and her veil falls down onto the floor. The sight was heartbreaking, this day turned out to be everything but perfect. First Alice, now this. I just hope it doesn't get any wo
Miguel jumps at Alice, grabbing her hand while the other guy manages to take the gun from her, ultimately pinning her to the ground when Alex pulls me back as the rest of the family gets up and gathers up at the front. “Let go of me, I'm not done yet!” Alice yells as she struggles to free herself but to no use as Miguel ties her hand to her back. “It's over Alice, it's finally over. You won't be able to hurt us ever again.” Domenic says as he presses Autumn to his side while Miguel lifts Alice, her hands pinned at her back. “Take her to the security room and call the police. She won't escape this time, not on my watch.” Richard says while rubbing Autumn's shoulder, trying to make sure she is ok. She look pale, shook but somewhat alright. She held onto Domenic the same way Alex didn't let go of my hand all this time. “He is lying to you, everyone is…” Alice says but Miguel drags her away. She was trying to do damage to the last second she could use. So much haterade in such a s
I always found weddings to be beautiful, yet this one was special. This was about my friend, someone who I knew would always be in my life, but I somehow knew that from the day I met her. Now sitting here, watching the smile on her face as she stared at the face of her loved one, the man she chose yet again despite every odd, despite not knowing the past. A path she chose solely based on what she felt within herself, and that was love. I had my doubts about it, I had my doubts about Domenic... the things I knew about their past, the things I didn't share with anyone else, not Alex, not Richard... I saw the regret in his eyes, I saw the pain but I also saw the love... and I wish them happiness. The same one I wished for myself and the woman who was sitting next to me right now. My love. My Alex. Today wasn't just the start of a new life for Autumn, this was also the day that meant something big for Alex and me. This was the day we would finally stop hiding. The day everyone would final
"Adam, where the hell were you? We are going to be late and you still haven't changed." Mom yells at me as soon as I step through the door. "I had some business to take care of. Dont worry I'll be ready in time." "Business, on a day like this one." Mom asks, her nad on her hip and eyebrow raised scepticly. "You look great by the way, where is Dad? You should go check he doesn't get something on his suit before we have to leave... I'll go shower now, bye." I manage to ramble up and run upstairs to get ready. Luck had it that Rosie had already got my clothes ready and waiting for me on the bed so I showered, got my hair ready, and got dressed just as a text came for me letting me know Derek was booked and taken care of. One more reason to party. ... "See, there was no reason for all that rushing. I had plenty of time to finish my meal." Dad said as we got out of the car at the Cromwell mention. It’s the perfect place for a wedding...grand, romantic, and more than enough to make an
Adam's POV Autumn's wedding day... Out of everything I could imagine myself doing on my friend's wedding day, walking into an old closed underground parking lot was not one of them but the situation called for it. After my contacts in the police did their investigations they brought to my attention that as I suspected this wasn't Derek's first rodeo at stalking a woman who bore a resemblance to his ex. It went so far that he got a red stamp on his passport preventing him from ever entering England again after stalking a prime minister's daughter. Boy sure likes to play in the big leagues. Now I didn't have the power to expel him from America but I had enough to put him behind bars. Yet first I wanted to have a little chat with him... for that, I used the side connections that I as a lawyer swore I would never usebut for Alex, there isn't a line in this world I wouldn't cross. After walking through the dark I approached the spot with a light that handed over Derek's head while he wa
